Received a letter.

I cashed the check like the man said and sent 985.00 thru money gram to Rita Wilson in Brooklyn NY. i was'nt sceptacle account I enter contest all the time and have been since 1991 and I figured I FINALLY WON but a week later I get the check back in the mail saying it was a counterfeit and withdrew 985.00 plus 7.00 dollars out of my account that now IM short my money now. If someone out there knows how to get my money legally Im all ears.I FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT NOW of what I put my family through. I wanted to believe so much now I see what this country is heading in when we have to scam hard working americans to get by thanks for your time.  jobu my nickname not real name fyi

Check is fake. The person at the bank said thank you for bringing in an actual check instead of the copies they got from everybody else and they will notify their other branches and whoever else needs to be notified.

We also received the same letter and received the same instructions via phone call. My husband called the main office of the bank and spoke with a representative. She said something sounded off in the account number on the check and instructed him to take the check to a local branch and have it verified, that the closest thing to the name we gave for the company is Quincey Quality Meats and they haven't held any contests that she'd heard of. He is going now to have it verified. Will post results of check verification when he calls.

I just got the same letter. Has anyone reported the to the better business bureau,if not,why not. They SUCK!

Just got the same thing.  I wish there where somthing that could be done to this person.  As, there are alot of people who will not be able to get online.  Sad to see this going on.

I received the same letter also , he's scam is still up & going today the company name is Quincy Quality, LLB. 21 E. Washington St. Quincy, FL 32350-2446. and the bank is Capital City Bank My check which is real as far as paper goes was for $985.00 and then i was told i would recieve my 2nd check for $49,015.00 in 2 days, but after $20 in gas running to the bank & then to the moneygram like this foreign man was instructing me still NOTHING!! He was in hopes that I would go & deposit it anyways and get SCAMMED!! WELL IT ALMOST WORKED, ALMOST UNTIL I GOT ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND SEVERAL STORIES JUST LIKE MINE, SO NOW I AM PRETTY DISAPPOINTED THAT THINGS LIKE THIS ARE STILL GOING ON & SURPRISINGLY WORKING ON MOST PEOPLE, WELL LUCKY ME I AM NOT ONE OF THEM!!!!

I just got the same letter in the mail.  I checked out the phone number online and it is a cell phone in Ontario Canada...oh the scam!  It also states that it is a "partial settlement 2007 sweepstakes draws" in the letter; funny thing is I just changed my last name a few months back, and I never entered any sweepstakes.  They want you to deposit the check so they get you account information, and then you have to pay some fees to be able to access the money (that's what my letter states).  Another funny thing is the name of the person the letter is from is Jon Bill, but the signature looks nothing like it, also it states he is VP of Loss Prevention...hello!  Please be careful with these types of things, I think it is part of that Nigerian scheme myself...but be ware, times are hard now and the money would make of our problems disappear...but it just isn't so.

Did you get advice from any state to Gov agency?  If so, who?

I RECIEVED THE VERY SAME CHECK FROM HE SAME COMPANY. I SOUND GREAT BUT TO MANY SCANS OUT THERE. THANKS FOR THIS WEB SITE. I DID CHECK ON THE BBB AND THERS NO KNOWN COMPANY OR PHONE NUMBER.

I called this number when I received a letter telling me I won a sweepstake $50,000.  I received a real looking check for $985.00.  I called the number to "attivate my account".  A man answered with a foreign accent.  He told me to deposit it and tell no one.  He said to call him back when it was deposited.  I tore up the check.  The company was Quincy Quality LLB.  The prize came from North American  Retailers Guilds.  Be carefull!!!! If sounds too good to be true, it probably is.  In these hard economic times it is easy to be fooled with the promise of free money.
