Do not ever except an over paid homestay , this is the sign, they are using fake emails & using Christianity & death in the family to pull many's heart strings. Never & I repeat never ever give money to people that you do not know , ever!

This is a scam. The cheque will bounce you will be out $45. The cheque is a fake commonwealth bank check - it looks real, is signed in red pen, do not bank the cheque , please people read between the lines here.

I dont under stand how u could could loose money from a cheque, other that you personal send money back can someone please explain it works. . Thanks. .

There should be a spot on the homestay sites where we as potential victims of fraud can post this kind of thing.

It is absurd to see many people posting here about how they are similarly contacted by this apparent scammer, and not doing anything about it. It is apparent that this scammer has been around since at least 2011. Today is 2013. Why hasn't this person stopped the scamming despite all these reports and victims complaining how they had also contacted the police?

thanks for sharing your story here, I am experiencing the same story as your guys, but I really feel very strange in the beginning, I want to talk with her ( she said she is in beijing) on the phone, but she find excuse hearing problem, so we cannot talk on the phone, Luckly I google it and found this website, it is exactly the same story as I got right now. that email ketp me pushing me to give him my full name and address and phone number, I told him many times, I have no rooms, but he seems pretend doesn;t know about it, so i feel very weired. and I also ask him many question, but he never answer me, kept asking me my full name and address. I just send him email back, and told him : NO ROOM FOR YOUR CHILD.
Also he provided me the address is Beijing hotel address and that phone number is not in Beijing, it belong to a England phone number, that is really strange, so what ever he made up a story, just try to talk them on the phone first and if they say they are in China, ask him to send mandarin email and told him don't accept money in advance until we see student and only accept cash for payment.

I got the same crap with the contact here being a Dr. Scott Douglas. He claims to be in Alberta but the phone number is in Toronto and the email for the mother who is supposed to be in China is a yahoo address. I was surprised the cheque came with a return address and a company name on the cheque. Have others reported this to the police. From the messages, it appears a number of people have lost money. Why has nothing been done to stop this. At the very least the homestay agency should have stopped it.  Got the dying `grammar` report and the picture. She doesn`t even look Chinese but I think this is an Asian run scam. This is the third time I have had messages like this from this agency. The first two were supposed to be from Africa. Money orders were sent from the U.S.  Guess they think people are so stupid they think South Africa is in New Jersey.

The same happened to me. .There is a way to contact the police for that?? I was sure it was a scammer.

He wants to send 6 months rent through a friend in Alberta named Mr. Scott. I already know this was a scam when he first replied to my ad. Most of these replies re someone coming to Canada to work and study are scams. So beware... I have not as of yet got a call. I want to reply to him and burst his bubble. LOL Just wanted to add this to the alert. Cheers!

Right now I have only one room available for December 1st, The other room was taken by a Sweden guy who is coming to Canada to work as Computer Analyst for one year.

About english schools, I dont know much about it, but please advise which schools she found out, if there are close by to place is worth it to stay with me, but if the schools are located in downtown Toronto, I wont to recommend to stay in my place because she is going to spend time (like a hour easily) to get there.

The room I have available is for December first and is for $400 dls per month, includes all utilities,shared laundry, shared kitchen, internet and cable TV.

The room size is around 115 inches x 105 inches, it has a new bed, its own tv and closet. See attached pictures.

Hope this work for you, but please also note that in Toronto and the metropolitan area, the rooms are occupied pretty fast, no trying to you to decide for my place, is just to let you know. So If you find a place which is good for your daughter try to get it as soon as you can :).

Thanks for your respond. She will be coming on the 30th of November and leave on the 29th March, 2013. Also we are going to make full payment for the 4 months, I don't want Biyu to have money problem when she is with you. Mr.Scott Douglas will handle the payment for us since he reside in Alberta-Canada. Mr.Scott is a long time family friend.I have contacted him about Biyu  moving to Canada for her studies, he said its a nice idea and promised to help us out with the arrangement. Initially, I wanted to send Biyu  to Mr. Scott's home in Alberta-Canada but since his going through a divorce, I thought it's not right to send her there and he understand perfectly well and promised to assist us out. Kindly let me know what your price is like for 2 meals (Breakfast and Dinner), My main worry is for my daughter to stay with a good lovely home. I hope your home will provide her the kind of atmosphere she need.


God has helped me to raise Biyu up in His way so she is a nice young girl and you will love her I assure you. She will be going to a language school,there are two schools which she's presently talking with but I have also asked her that am going to seek for your advice for us on any good school close to your home, Can you help her to enroll when she comes over? Please note that her English speaking is very slow and for this I allowed her to visit my step-sister in England, I want her English to improve a bite before coming to your home. She will move from England to your home I pray you will assist her.


Biyu is 19 years old. Here in China if you can speak and write English you will have a very good job as the economy is growing everyday . I want Biyu to be ready, and to give her my best now because she is all i have.
