Got a call from this number saying there was a call from the DMV and asking me to press 1 to accept or press 2 to send to voice mail. I did not recognize that voice menu -- it's not related to my personal voice mail.

Some kind of recorded auto insurance advertisement, disguised as a California public announcement. So annoying and disgusting!

After I answered, a pre-recorded prompt said it was a message from the "department of motor vehicles" that I may be overpaying for my car insurance. "Press 1" to speak to somebody. I didn't press anything, and it hung up on its own.
I smell a scam, but I cannot confirm.
