If you didn't go to Stanford University, they will have absolutely no interest in you!

I just got a call, 7:45 pm in the middle of dinner.  I've been getting these a lot, and always at bad times.

I think it may be a phishing scam by someone who got a hold of a bunch of Stanford alum phone numbers. I'd say watch out, especially since they don't leave a message.  That's always "phishy".

Got a call from this number, no message.  Anyone know who it is?

Thanks for leaving comments. I am also a Stanford alum. I don't pick up calls I don't recognize and will continue to ignore this number.

Stanford Alum here as well. Have answered and is the Stanford a Fund - usually current Stanford Students. I did the same thing w other dorm mates back in the 80's when I was there. Called and re verified, and said I'd donate but would not give over the phone, but asked the student to send me the info and my donation amount and received it a few days later. They won't leave messages though. It's legit.

Yes, I'm stanford alum. I think they're from some kind of student calling center for the Stanford alumni office. I've received call from time to time. They started off saying wanting to update alumni info, then later on, goes on to fund raising. I really don't like giving info over the phone.

They've been calling me for a week.  I am a Stanford alum.  Not answering.  

got calls on 2/11, 2/12, and 2/13 all around 8pm PST.
Didn't answer on 2/11or 2/13, and no message was left.
Answered on 2/12, and no response.

Got call on Sunday 2/9 and today, Wednesday 2/12.  No message left.  I am a Stanford alum.

It's a real Stanford University number. Not sure why they called you unless you have a recently issued phone number that might have been used by someone before you that is affiliated with the school.

Also an alum. Number is new and non-CA. Caller must have access to a list.

The phone number is for the student calling center for the Stanford Fund for Undergraduate Education.  I just called the number and listened to the recording.  You can always give us a call to update your information or access your online profile to make changes.  We can also add special handling on your information, to not solicit by phone if this is something you would like us to do for you.

I'm a Stanford Alum, too.  I've received a call from this number once per day for a few days now.  Just a guess here, but I'd say someone outside of Stanford got a hold of a Stanford calling list and is using it illegally.  Just don't answer it.

I am a Stanford Alum. I've received a call every other day from this number for about a week and usually quite late. My first assumption is that it was The Stanford Fund soliciting money, and I always ignored it, figuring that the student callers work late and don't always pay attention to time zones. Now that I think of it, though, the "736" isn't a prefix I recognize; most on-campus SU numbers start with "72." I'm going to continue to ignore this caller and report it to The Stanford Fund, whose real phone number is 650-723-7814 just FYI.

called back and went straight to msg. stanford would like to talk to me since I am apparently an alumni. Except that I am not an alumni....

I also went to SU but am surprised if someone official would call and not leave VM. Seems suspicious. Someone should call the university.

I am a Stanford Alum, but don't recall giving them my cell number. No message left. Very odd, it appears the number used to belong to a Stanford anesthesiology office fax machine... and I'm an anesthesiologist. But the number apparently no longer belongs to the Stanford Anesthesia Dept. Unless it's a rogue fax machine...

Received call from this number.  Caller identified himself as associated with Stanford University and was collecting alumni information.  Asked for my address, employer, etc.  Problem is, I never went to Stanford.  Smells like a scam to me.
