I was told by "Danny" that even I paid this debt a week from now, they would still claim it as unpaid debt on my credit report. I was given a one time offer, "Pay now and we will remove it. Pay later and it will stay on your credit report forever." They refused to send me any sort of documentation or proof of the debt. How can they threaten citizens who called them to settle up? Is this really a legal way to run a company?

Ok, so I have to say that I rightfully owed a bill that was in collections with Millenium Credit Consultants so I didn't fight them when they went to garnish my checks. They garnished my checks in December 2011 and my employer paid them in full for the amount that they issued a writ for.
The problem is that the courts only allowed them to garnish a certain amount. But this two bit outfit actually wouldn't report to the courts that the judgment was satisfied until I paid above and beyond the amount that they issued the writ for. I ended up paying them over $150 beyond what the courts approved.
I reported them to the BBB, Minnesota Attorney Generals Office as well as the FTC.
Just so you know their main office in is West Saint Paul, MN. I had to physically walk into their main office to get them to report this as satisfied in February 2012. A full two months AFTER they cashed the check from my employer for the full amount of the writ.
The FTC confirmed that based on all of the proof and evidence that I have, this company is in violation of federal and state collection laws. The MN AG office also has verified that they are investigating them further because the so called 'proof' they have showing that they rightfully collected above what the courts allowed is nothing but hogwash.
While both the FTC and MN AG offices cannot and will not represent individuals it was suggested that I contact a private attorney to pursue damages and the money I've overpaid. The catch is that anyone that wishes to recoup their money and pursue damages must do it within the 1 year statute of limitations.
The reason I'm posting this here is because I have a printed out of all the names of people that have been brought to court in the last year from this ridiculous story of a collection company and I would like to band together with anyone else that may have been taken for a ride. I would like to consult with an attorney to start a class action suit.
Please be aware that I'm not out to get this company just because I don't want to pay my bills. I understood that I owed them money to begin with and I understand that now. But what I'm pursuing is the fact that they illegally took more money that the federal and state laws permit them to take.
Also I agree with a previous commentor, please PLEASE contact the Minnesota Attorney Generals office to report what you've paid and what they legally were allowed to collect.
Then please report the concern to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) so that they can also pursue this company.
Their actions are illegal and there is help out there for those that know their rights and will stand up for themselves.
I'm not a lawyer and I do not have a degree. However, I am a working single mother who pays her taxes and pays her bills. This company has no right to step all over me or anyone else.
If you or anyone else you know has been taken by this place, please repost it here. Perhaps we can arrange for a meeting once I've contacted the attorney.

| u will find out 2008-07-16 22:33:10 Unknown |
This number calls you constantly, but NEVER leaves you a message. Not sure what this is, but if they can't leave a message, why should you call back?? Plus, they can't garnish your wages if you earn cash, if this is what this phone number is.
