I received a call from them on Nov. 9, and they never left a message. But, when I called the number, it beeped like a fax machine.

It appears that a telemarketing company has set their outbound caller ID to match M&I Bank.  This is not authorized by M&I Bank and hopefully the police and phone company will be able to trace this.  Again, if you get one of these calls, as long as it is your last phone call received, PLEASE mark this call by picking up your handset, and press *57.  Then report it to the police.  With this identifier the police will be able to trace where this call is originating.

They called and left a message stating a local expanding business has exciting opportunities.  They are seeking energetic employees to blah blah blah. I reported the call to MPLS police and reported it to M&I Bank.  The number is a valid M&I Bank fax # out of their Woodbury MN branch.

I have been getting these calls also, and after my girlfriend recieved an email asking her to mystery shop a M&I Bank, I went looking and found this.

I am actively working on this problem with the local telephone carrier but am unable to determine where these calls are originating.  Though it appears to you that the fax machine at M&I is calling, it is not.  If you get more of these calls, please "mark" the call.  As long as that number is the last number that called you, pick up your handset, get dial tone, press *57.  Then, call your local police to report a nusiance call.  They will work with the local line carrier to track down what's happening.  This will be the quickest way to resolve this.  Please update this page.  I'll watch for any additional comments.  THANK YOU

I had my calls forwarded to my cell phone and when I answered it, there was no response.

I get one to two calls a day on my FAX line, Caller ID says M I Bank. We get so few FAXs that instead of waiting to see if it is a FAX, we just answer the phone. No one is there. If we call the number back we get FAX tones from their end. On the few occasions when our FAX has picked up the call, no FAX message came through.

The call says M I Bank but we have no business with such a bank and a message is never left.  They immediately hang up once the answering machine turns on.
