MEDICAL ALERT SCAM IS SHUTDOWN
Federal and state regulators have shutdown a multimillion-dollar scam they said duped senior citizens into turning over credit card information in exchange for purportedly FREE medical alert devices.  The business blasted out robocalls claiming people were eligible to receive an alert system purchased by a friend or relative. Once a person agreed to receive the device, he or she was transferred to an operator who took billing information and immediately began charging for the service.  Government officials said they got more than 66,000 complaints.   "You call enough older consumers and you will find someone with dementia or Alzheimer's" said Federal Trade Commission regional director Steven Baker. "These people knew they were dealing with people who weren't all there, and they took their money."  The scam was not connected to any manufacturers.  The makers of LIFE ALERT had sued the business for using its "Help, I've fallen and I can't get up", phrase on ROBOCALLS.    Operating under corporate names like WORLDWIDE INFO SERVICES and CREDIT VOICE, the business had half-a-dozen addresses in Florida.

It probably doesn't help but I did report them to the No Call List Registry people, again.  I've gotten at least five calls in the last month and today it was the same caller but from 7633927791 instead.  Same recording.  So sick of it, but I can't afford to ignore calls from Minneapolis due to business needs.

Just got a call from this outfit It was a robo call for Seniors.

The caller ID showed "6517961433" for caller's name and "651-796-1433" for the telephone number. Scammers commonly do this..

I hung up after I heard the first three or four words.

I received 20+ calls in rapid succession from this number today. Three times a minute for several minutes. I didn't notice at all since our home number is my cell phone. And I had previously added the number to my auto-reject list on my Android phone. It's still annoying though.

Yet another one from these SCAMMERS

robo call from 651-796-1433 on 2-01-13 @ 1146 aM. This was the 7th=SEVENTH call from these SCAMMERS who said they R giving away a 'FREE' $400 Medical Alert System. Pressed 1 and after some brief music a scrrener Kimberly came on the line and asked if I wanted to hear about the Medical alert System? I said 'Yes I did' so she transferred me to a Kathryn Agent #4496. After her talk I asked her a ton of questions and kept old Kathryn on the line for 13 minutes and 52 seconds. She said I would ONLY be charged for monthly monitoring to the tune of $34.95 per month or $39.95 for 2 buttons. During the cal she said she was calling from Florida ( found that interesting since the phone number they left on the caller ID was then forged), she said that they are called "SENIOR SAFE ALERT." She also said that they have a web site under the same name and one of their monitoring locations is in NY. Well I was done with her and gave her the cussing UTube video which ended her call pretty quickly.

what is in it for them?

I get several calls a day from this number.  They don't even say anything, and if you call the number back it just goes silent.  These calls have to stop

I have gotten numerous phone calls from this number. I do not answer the call, and they leave no message. This is a cell phone and I have answered and asked them not to call me again as I am on the DO NOT CALL list. They say yes and call again the next day. MAKE THEM STOP PLEASE!!!!!

i SOMETIMES GET 4 CALLS A DAY FROM THIS NUMBER. iT IS A ROBO CALL AND YOU SOMETIMES RECEIVE A RECORDED MESSAGE AIMED AT SENIOR CITIZENS AND HOME ALARM SYSTEMS. hOW DO i MAKE THEM STOP?

They call, I don't answer, very sick of the calls though.

Get yourself a Panasonic cordless DECT phone.  It will allow you to block up to 30 numbers.  Phone will ring once and hang up.  These phones will also block calls without a phone number incuding "Out of area", "Private caller", or "Long distance".  Nice cordless and worth every penny.

No messages was left so obviously a nuisance call.

These SCAMMERS just never give up

robo call from 651-796-1433 on 1-28-13 @ 429 PM. This was the 6th=SIXTH call from these SCAMMERS who said they R giving away a 'FREE' $400 Medical Alert System. Pressed 1 and after some brief music I got a Sheila who I kept on the line for aover 5 minutes and then gave her my Real Raunchy British diddy........she was gone before the song ended in about a minute

And I was thinking I hadn't gotten any SCAM call for a while then this one again.

robo call from 651-796-1433 on 1-26-13 @ 122 PM. This was the 5th call from these SCAMMERS who said they R giving away a 'FREE' $400 Medical Alert System. They sure R persistent buggers if not down right dumb. After the recorded intro ended they said press 1 to talk to an agent or press 5 to be taken off their list. (press 5 yeah right?) so pressed 1 but unfortunately their system cut me off after pressing 1.
Could be a new wrinkle with them to still bother the heck outta people without a person being able to give them the "SCAMMER HORN" or a "Raunchy British UTUBE Music" being played back at them, or just the ability to cuss them the heck out. Maybe next Time though !!!

Got the calls this week, hit 1 since yes as everyone else agrees hitting 2 just keeps it going. Spent almost a hour on the phone with a Jeremiah #CS543 including his monotone and bored reading of a script. I had to ask a few times and lock it in and they are NOT medical alert although they are using their tagline "ive fallen and cant get up" I gave all fake info including name, address and a cell phone (off a card I got from a cop after being a witness to an accident, sure hope they start calling him!!!) and all the scripted info about this system. The company name that I finally got out of him after refusing any more info unless I knew who I was dealing with is Senior care monitoring.
The call went quickly downhill after he wanted a credit card # (for the $1 day fee for the equipment and id NEVER get charged anything else) I rang off a string of random #s and was informed Visas dont begin with a 8. I finally went back to the dialer issue (I had informed him it called at 10:30 one night) asked again if it showed me hitting 2 any of the times they called which he said it didn't. I asked if I had wasted enough of his time with all this fake info to warrant getting on the list. He totally flipped out including stating id :get put on the ring the phone all day list" and several things I cant post here. Asked him if he heard that beep in the background and he hung up. Tape on the way to Atty General but I dont have much faith they are going to do much about these hucksters.

1/23/2013  8:30P  Two calls in rapid sucession - Unknown on Caller ID.  NO message.  7th random caller this week from various random numbers.  IF you answer or attempt to be removed from their list by following their instructions all you are doing is sending them a validation that their robo dialing did reach a real person and then they provide your number to other scammers.

Ya know what? I am getting SO MANY STUPID CALLS from randos!!!!!! What I am doing now is if they call to say 'hold for the next representative, I do one of two things.  I hold, then when the rep gets on, I blast em with a button tone that never ends.  Or, THEY ASK ME TO HOLD WHILE I WAIT FOR THE NEXT REPRESENTATIVE.  WHAT?!??!?!?  Well, I hold.  I put the phone on a piece of furniture and I let them hold for me, after I get back.  To the tune of oh, 20 minutes.  Unless I hear the dialtone, in which case then I hang up.  A good trick?  If there's a sales call, and you don't want it, ask them for their home phone number and then ask if you can call them back, say around dinner time.  DAMN

I got the same call.  I pushed "1" to discuss further.  I had her on the line for 29 minutes before she hung up on me.

This number has called us 4 times even though we have asked to be removed and reminded them of the Do Not Call list.  Now I'm Pis**d!  I'm reporting them to the FCC.

This number is part of an exchange owned by bandwidth.com (as part of their Phonebooth subsidiary.) They ask that you file reports at the following URL in addition to letting the FTC know via the donotcall.gov page:

3rd robo-call in as many days, 2nd from this number. I made the mistake of pressing 2 to be removed from their list. Obviously, that doesn't work.

I'll keep reporting them to the DNC registry, FWIW.  **sigh**

robo call from 651-796-1433 on 1-16-13 @ 813 PM. This was the 4TH call from these SCAMMERS who said they R giving away a 'FREE' $400 Medical Alert System. This time No screener or anything like that,  I pressed 1 and I was immediately placed on hold with music. After several minutes a guy came on (did not even give his name) and asked for my name. Gave him fake name and he started his scripted talk. Asked if I saw the TV commercial about the alert system and I said "yes I did" then he was talking about the free system with the remote button and for some unknown reason I got disconnected. Maybe they flagged me about my raunchy music I play back to these SCAMMERS but I am probably giving them to much credit. But I will get them next time.

robo call from 651-796-1433 on 1-14-13 @423 PM. This was the 3rd call from these SCAMMERS who said they R giving away a 'FREE' $400 Medical Alert System. A Kimberly came  on the line and asked if I wanted to hear more about the Alert system or be removed? This is a new one having a live body asking this question.
But since it does matter because they NEVER remove U anyways, I said "I want to hear more." She then quickly said I will get U to an Agent. A John then got on the line giving some number ( I suspect some fake agent number) and asked who I was and how I was doing. Gave him a fake name and fake answer. Then he asked if I had seen any of the Medical Alert commercials. I said Yeah I had seen the one where the gal puts the control button between her "T!ts". He said he "hadn't seen that one". And I was just about to start the "Raunchy British song" when my portable phone went dead. - DANG the LUCK.
