this number just called to speak to the mom or dad of a boy under the age of 18. He had the right number.  He said he was the boy's counselor and asked if was the boy's mom.  When I said no he hung up on me. I tried to call back and it is a google phone number.  This boy has been having a lot of random behavior lately and this is just one more strange event.  There is something not right about this number and the person it belongs to.

I received a call from (657) 859-9893 on Thursday, 21 April 2011, at 11:07 a.m. CDT asking for the name of a female... I advised the caller that no-one by that name has ever lived at this address and hung-up.

A  lot of calls from this number 657-859-9893 which shows up as California on the caller ID, they asked for my youngest minor child as well, I asked who was calling?  She was very quiet for quite awhile, I asked again and she hung up.  I'm on the no call list so I will definately be turning in this number.  Also, getting a lot of calls on my caller ID showing Florida and Nevada and hang up when I ask who is calling!!!

thanks, tara for this helpful bit.  i keep getting the same number on caller ID and, coincidentally, we recently signed up for SAT/ACT info with, i think the 'college board - sends us monthly emails about testing, college application,etc.'.  since then, we have been getting this same phone call.

I finally answered it after repeated calls.  I actually got a very nice lady who said it was some CD or something that would help my child with their SAT.  I let her explain the whole thing but then said I was not interested. She politely told me thank you and wished my son good luck. I believe the cost was $185.

This number has been calling several days so I decided to answer to determine who it was.  They said my teenage daughter asked for some SAT information then they started to ask ME questions. I asked to get a call back number so I could confirm this with my daughter.  They immediately hung up.  This is a prompt to confirm with kids to NEVER share any information - phone call or online!!!

Same thing here.  They been calling me twice per day but there is no one on the other line.  Strange.  I left "them" a message not to call my number any more.

A lady just called our house asking to specifically talk to the parents of my step-son. They new his exact name. The woman was very polite, sounded as if she was in her 30's. I told her I was his step-mom and she hung up on me. How exactly did she get our phone number and my step-sons name. He is a minor. Very, very odd. We called back using our cell phones and just got a machine from google. Odd. Has anyone figured out what their motive is?

Callers are probably monitoring this site.  Helps them feel "special".  Note to comment above--company that may have been hacked is Valve's Steam.

Same callers as 562-246-6083 with same idiotic comments.  Sounds like kids.  Sounds like someone hacked into a kids website, like Vance's Steam (that's how they know the personal information and that it is probably a child).  Callers need to get a life!!  What a waste of your personal time, you idiot!  

If you are annoyed enough, harrassing calls are illegal in CA.   Enough complaints and they can get a court order.

It was supposed to be a negative 117.8481. That's why you got a location on the opposite side of the world.

I looked it up and the call came from Desert Springs RV Park in Santa Ana, CA... Kinda creepy don't you think?

I just got the same phone call asking to speak to my parents and when I said that they weren't available he just hung up before I could ask if he wanted to leave a message. I thought it was very wierd how he knew my name.

i got the same call about 10 minutes ago, and i tried to call them back and it was just an automated voice.
somehow they knew my name even and being the computer nerd i am i always google a number i dont know to see any info about it.

However, the latitude: 33.7017, longitude: 117.8481 indicates the caller's location between the G35 Jiguang Expressway and the G2 Jinghu Expressway in China.

Go to Google Earth and type in: 33.7017, 117.8481 and see for your self.

My mother has received the same call asking for my son, who is a minor. When she told the lady that he does not live their they hang up on her. This concerns me as my son is a minor and I'm going to report it to the local authority if they call again.

Allow me to add that after stumbling over his tongue, he exclaimed "Just forget it," and immediately hung up the phone without warning.

Twice so far, a man has called my family's residence asking if he can speak to the parents of our youngest teen child. He addressed himself very poorly and unprofessionally, when he first spoke, he said that he was calling from "Over here," which after heavy questioning, we found was Santa Ana California. When he was questioned a little further, in concerns as to why he was calling, all he could do was answer with a course of "ums, ahs, and uhs." Definitely a very suspicious, unconvincing scam call.
