"Jack Trinh", Asian accent, from the "Department of Crime Prevention in California". Caller ID registered number as 0000. Left voicemail stating a legal case had been filed against me and either my attorney or I needed to call him at (661) 240-9230 as soon as possible. He went on to tell me that if my attorney or I did not return his call, he can only wish me luck and pray for me to deal with what is coming to me.
Message was almost identical to ones I received exactly 6 months ago from "Chris Palmer", heavy Middle Eastern accent, at "United States Legal".
This is not legit. Your information has likely been culled from a purchased mailing/call list or hacked from websites you entered your information into.
MY ADVICE:
Call them back, act as if you are truly concerned, get ALL of the information you can about the call, caller & "company": date, time, caller ID number, caller's name, "company" name, supervisor's name, phone numbers, fax number, address, etc., as if you want to resolve the situation & will send them money. Also document what information they have about you (act as if you are "verifying" or "confirming" the info they have on you). Do not GIVE them any other information about you; ONLY find out what information they have about you.
Once you have that information, request that the caller provide you with the proper legal paperwork for said "legal complaint". Again, do not GIVE them any further information about you; they already have it all, right? LOL. Inform the caller that if you do not receive said legal documentation of the alleged legal claim within 5 days (3 days, a week, whatever), you will file reports on them with your local police department, BBB, state patrol, state attorney general, FBI, & FTC. Repeat this several times as likely will be needed because they are very persistent & will try to scare you.
Tell the caller specifically to immediately cease calling your family, friends, employer, & you at any numbers they have: work, home, etc. Again, repeat as necessary, very calmly & firmly.
You will not get any legitimate paperwork. Follow through by filing a report with the listed agencies & any other agencies they recommended.
DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, SEND THE CALLER A PENNY!!!
These tactics have worked well for me. Calls did cease immediately...but another company will likely pop-up after 6 months or so using the very same or very similar M.O.
If you have truly had a legitimate legal complaint filed against you, you would be served proper legal paperwork via mail or, more likely, in person by a law enforcement officer. Even if you have moved, make no mistake, they WILL find you & serve you that paperwork!!!
Do not let these scam artists scare you!!!
RESPOND to the call.
RECORD pertinent information.
REPORT the "company".
Rinse & Repeat. :)

Got a call from thie 661-240-9230. Actually several voicemails over the course of a couple of days to my home phone. This person has called before and my son dealt with him. The get very flustered when the pressure is put back on them. My daughter, who is an assistant to an attorney, returned a call to the number once before and insisted on speaking to the named person, and they wouldn't connect her, gave one excuse after another and then finally hung up on her.
My son even asked them had they ever spoke to me at that number before, and when they said no, he asked them "What makes you think you will this time then?" It is curious that they are calling asking for me by name at a number that isn't even listed under my name or a name similar to it.

This guy called my wife saying that she was having the police pick her up for a payday loan she never paid, maybe because she never had one. She called me very upset, he said his name was Steve Wright, indian accent etc, I called him back and blew him up, needless to say the professional part of him did not come out. ADVISE, I really have never heard of a creatitor he claims to be, starting causing at me without any control at all. I just laughed at him and let him know he is a worthless piece of sh**...hahaha some people just make me laugh. Blow the call off and go back to your normal life.

It's been happening to me for a year now and it hasn't worked so I don't know why they keep trying. A Local Detective already told him to stop calling me. I had this message waiting for me when I got to work this morning. Have no fear of these people and for God's sake, do not send them any money.
Message:
This message is intended for -----.. I need you or your attorney (unintelligble) to return the call. The issue at hand is extremely time sensitive. My name is Roger Jones. And Hotline to my division 661-240-9237. Don?t disregard this message, return the call. Now. If you don?t return the call or I don?t hear from your attorney either, the only thing I can do is (unintelligible words here) as the situation unfolds on you ___. Goodbye.
All the while trying in vain not to have a middle east accent (laughable try)
I hope these guys understand that they can call me all they want and it won't make up for muhammed being a pedophile and rapist with a God complex.

Did an investigation of my own and found out all these numbers from Wasco, CA are owned and operated from O1 Communications. I called that provider and gave them over 50 messages threatening me and my family to do bodily harm. I am filing a lawsuit for threatening, harassing, phone calls and its going to get very public and nasty. The minimum fines for these unwanted calls is $20,000 per infraction. I will be giving my attorney this link so he can use it in court when we go to court. My attorney will post his contact info here so if anyone else wants to ask him questions about what they can do to stop these guys or if more than 20 people want to file it can become a class action lawsuit against them and O1 comm. The company is called O1 Communications in CA and they are LLC and Inc. so they have to carry insurance for these calls.

Interesting...Shortie, I also dealt with almost exactly 6 months ago. That caller in September was from "United States Legal Dept" & had a heavy Middle Eastern accent. The call back number had 11 digits instead of 10. They called my sister & friend, too, about my alleged "legal issue". I filed a report with some of the above suggested agencies, then I called them back and informed them of my reports. The guy, "Chris Palmer", said he was going to get his supervisor. When his "supervisor" got on the phone, it actually was the same guy using a different name. After I informed them that I had reported them, I advised them to cease calling me, my sister, and my friend. I had to say it several times, but I, my sister, & my friend have not received any more calls from them.
Today...a new call. The caller number registered on my phone as "0000", too, as Angel mentioned above. I didn't answer it in time, all the better because I again have a voicemail for this next round of complaints I'll file. The caller identified himself as "Jack Trinh" from the "Department of Crime Prevention" in California; this man's accent was Asian. The message he left was nearly identical to the one I got 6 months ago. I will follow the same process with this call as I did with the previous one: report to my state attorney general, the BBB, local police department, & FBI...and anyone else those agencies recommend...and, yes, I will ask them for recommendations!
These people likely got personal information on me & all of you from either a purchased mailing/e-mail list &/or by hacking into websites we have entered our information into. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES WHATSOEVER, SEND THEM A PENNY. If a person truly has a legal case filed against them, they are served proper legal paperwork via mail or, more likely, by a local law enforcement officer. Even if you've moved a million times, they will find you and serve you the paperwork. Make the appropriate reports, inform the caller of your reports, and tell them specifically not to call your friends, family, or you at home, work, or any other number they might have.
I do find the idea of shaming them in relation to their religion quite amusing, though. Maybe sprinkle some of that in, too, just for fun. :)

This is a previous post.......but just to remind everyone, Dateline wants to hear your stories.......
They are still actively working on this story- recordings, any paper trail, is very helpful.
Also REPORT THIS TO LOCAL POLICE, FBI, SECRET SERVICE, HOMELAND SECURITY......Keep focused and lets stop this.
I work for Dateline NBC, and we're researching this issue. I'd love to hear more about your experience.
Could we talk? You can email me at simon.doolittle@nbcuni.com, or call my office at 212-664-3343.
Thanks,
Simon

These people will never give up. They have been switching phone numbers for 2 years at least. I even had the same group of people call me last week ...and this is what is really strange..Caller id displayed it as Emergency. Vm says it is from 911..but it wasn't.

I got a phone call from this number as well, however before they were able to finish their little speech I told them I have already filled a complaint with the FBI and CIA from the last time they called me 3 months ago. I also told them if they were to ever call me again I will ensure they get caught snd I will be at their trial. They lady on the phone stated to me she was sorry and will not call me again. Let's see if that worked! Good luck everyone if they call again but beat them to it and get sassy with them beforfe they do to you!

About 4 to 6 months ago I got a phone call regarding an unpaid loan for payday loan company. When this middle eastern 2 men and a woman could not answer my question and I wouldn't give them information the phone with dead. When I the number back it just ring and when I tried again approx 20 minutes later the number was not in service. Now I have received the same call from the same people but now they are using the name Joe Wilson from dept of crime prevention agency in CA. I have contact the local police dept from that location to see if they hear of the company or work with the company. The local police dept informed me that there is no company or ageny by that name and provide me with the agencies they deal with. I call the number back and got a general answer machine to leave my name and number.

My husband received a call from these people, same story, they had all our personal info, bank acct
social security number, home phone , employer, and pay dates. Wanted a letter faxed stating he
would pay a certain amount by March 31 and that he would not dispute the transaction. They wanted
our Visa card number and copy of my husband's drivers license, they also wanted this notarized and
faxed to another number and a guy named Peter Jackson. I called FTC and BBB and the Attorney
Generals office and did not send the letter and info, when I got home from work, I had another call from
another number and another guy asking what was the problem they did not receive the letter. We called them back and asked for info on the company, like address, name of firm and so on and they said we would get nothing, and they would give us the FBI. They all have mid eastern accents too.
They said my husband would be summoned to appear at court and go to jail and end up paying $18, 000.00. At first they really scared us, but the more I thought about it the more uneasy I felt. Glad I
called about them.

Tina, your post is almost one week old and I am certain you have realized that the entire event was a scam, at least I pray so!! For any person who may have googled a phone # and arrived at this site, please take comfort in the fact that you are not the first they have tried to exploit and you wont be the last!!! I have read so MANY accounts from individuals who REALLY believed they were going to be hauled from their place of employment, humiliated and in jeopardy of loosing their families....NOT ONE WORD IS TRUE!!! PLEASE, PLEASE believe that you are being victomized!!! I dont know the religious affiliation of any person reading this post....and I dont want to seem "churchy" or "christian," because I dont care if you are Hindu, Jew, Christian or Athiest....but there is " no fear in the LORD."
julie 2011-03-15 03:57:32 Unknown
You were very prudent to go and change your banking information but in the meantime laugh at the pathetic person who called and convinced you that you had a debt that you KNEW you didnt' owe!!!
Julie 2011-03-15 03:46:04 Unknown
R....fight fire with fire....I have filed a complaint with my local attorney general, FBI and CIA, read online they have soooo many complaints they can not investigate...learn your enemy and reply!!!
Julie 2011-03-15 03:39:03 Unknown
Dulce...I am not certain if you work for a national company or a small family owned company but these people have no right to harrass you....a national company would know a fraud when they hear it...a family owned company needs to CALL THEM OUT...if they are contending garnishment of wages send the paperwork, otherwise....good luck!!
Julie 2011-03-15 03:30:55 Unknown
Allen, when they really didn't show up to get me I was tempted to call and let them know how really disappointed I was..really....its cold here in Michigan in February and I was really looking forward to a trip to California ( I must admit I wondered how the court system would fit me in so quickly, not like they have any real crime to deal with....) but nonetheless....I had Panama Jack in my suitcase and EVERYTHING....could they be liable for lost dreams?!!!!
julie 2011-03-15 03:26:13 Unknown
soooo, soooo funny, not because I am an observer but because I am a victim....take control...imagine for a moment what makes a person of their nationality worry??? Call and inquire, advise him to pray for his wretched soul, lest in burn in hell, without even ONE virgin!!!
julie 2011-03-15 03:17:59 Unknown
BF, I dont know you beyond those initials but I could sit on this computer, for I am not sure how may hours, and read a million stories like yours....ignore them if you wish... or call them back and turn the tables.....harrass the hell out of them....say something like, " No Englis" when they answer the phone ( they will be a little stumped because they sure dont know english) remind them that they have just LOST their 70 virgins!!!!
Julie 2011-03-15 03:09:38 Unknown
I am on a personal mission!!.....These are the most evil of souls.....please, please think rationally for like...oh say 1 second.....these are thieves who believe people will forward them money...I for one am NOT delinquent on any "Pay Day Loan!!" I am distressed by the fact that they have knowledge of who I am, but.... then again should they try to steal my identity they will try to give it "right on damn back" and I may force a lawsuit to make them keep it..you cant bleed a turnip, I have no unpaid "online loan" and the rest THEY can prove!!!!!
julie 2011-03-15 02:58:44 Unknown
I have filed a complaint with my state Attorney General, FBI and CIA ( as instructed on many sites) I hope they are on the case....just give them a hearty laugh.....seriously, if you had a legitmate debt that involved federal charges dont you think you would hear from a LOCAL prosecuter...really....Pakitstan or wherever.....LMAO!!!!!!!!!!
Julie 2011-03-15 02:52:24 Unknown
Received a message from these pirates approximately three weeks ago on a Thursday, was supposed to be jailed the following "Tuesday" after my employer was informed of my crimes.....needless to say I was NOT jailed and no "in-dick-ment" was served....they call me again three weeks later, guess they are just as stupid as they are tenacious.....call them back and remind them that "ALA" is not happy with their decitful ways, if your hand gets cut off for stealing....your tongue gets cut out for lying!!!!
BF 2011-03-14 23:21:32 Unknown
They are saying that I need to pay $860.00, they want all of my bank info, but will not send me any info first until I have faxed them all of the information... I could barely understand the woman on the phone talking.
