I got a call from 616-243-3225. He said that he was a lawyer and send my information to the police and going to get a warrent for my arrest

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam a year ago:

I received about 5 calls from this number, with 2 voice mail messages stating that I had 3 charges filed against me. I could only understand his name which was Stephen Jones, after asking him to repeat himself several times he then proceeded to tell me that I was going to be arrested the next week by my local sheriff's office.  It was really scary since he knew my address and the sheriff's department address.

Just received a phone call from a ridiculous indian man saying he was an american(which was a lie of course) and said i was in some sort of legal trouble. I told this dude that I had no legal problems in my life and that he needed to lose my number. He then asked me what my name was. I said, "you called me, you should no my name." He started shouting. I told him "look dude, you don't know me, and ya need to get to steppin." He asked me if my name was __________ __________ which it was, but i said, NOPE! This is all a scam.

Some man with an Indian Accent just called me and told me he was from a law office in California Larry Parker and that  I was being sued and hung up on my when I demanded to know why. I called the 661 243 3225 back and he answered like he was picking up a home phone. not like he actually worked for a lawyers office. I think its a scam.

Called me stating i had a payday loan and had defaulted on payment adv i needed to go buy a Green Dot Money pack from walmart for $450 dollars to stop legal proceedings, would not give me anymore info, he know my address and email, called police said it was a scam, we'll find out tomorrow right?
And since when have police officer's done the job for a law firm? they need to hire a process server in order to "serve" a "subpoena".

This is a scam.  These guys are calling from a call center in India.  They are trying to get you to give them you credit card or bank account number.  They then take out your money and put it into their pockets.    They use every trick in the book to scare you into paying them.  There is no debtor's prison in America.  Do Not Fall For It.  It  will only cost you money.  These people  are using the names of several different law firms throughout the country, but are not associated with any of them.  Just hang up, or use the call block feature on you phone to block the calls.  They will change the number eventually, but if enough people catch on to them, maybe it will stop.

I got a call from this number today. Told me that a suit had been filed against me and that I would need to appear in court in CA. I told him he had the wrong person as I've never left the east coast. He then read off my address! I was told that I would recieve a subpoena from my local sheriffs office on Friday. I called the police station and was told that it was a scam. I'm not the first person in town to have this call. Glad my husband is off Friday!

Received repeated calls from a restricted number and the voice mail is a man named "Michael Davis" with the Larry Parker Law Firm had a very heavy Indian accent claiming that there is a suit against me and that I need to pick up the suit at the local police department (isn't that the sheriff's job to serve me?). From what I've seen on about 4 other sites this is a scam. Good....I can breath now.

I was at work and my husband called and starts telling me this story freaking out. he thought his s****y little sister must of pulled some s*** on us and this guy comes to my and so my husband says make sure you have the right ss# he said yes and the police would be coming tomorrow for him. husband is freaking out. so I googled the phone # and this is what came up thank you please tell me if anyone of you had any more problems

Steven Jones Called with the most ridiculous accent from India and left message about me being sued and that I needed to appear in court next Wednesday in Los Angeles and that I needed to go pick up the paperwork at my local police station. I knew immediately that he was some sort of scam artist and so I  called back and played dumb so he would try his scam. Well as soon as he tried to tell me I had taken a payday loan actually told me I had three which I never have done so I could not help but laugh and then told him he just made the biggest mistake of his life and that I had a relative in law enforcement and that the FBI was on their way to pick him up as soon as heard that he  hung up did not even say another word just got off and probably is destroying hi scam records right now thinking he is about to get busted. HAHA Sucker !!!!!

I had a call from this number and he said that there was a lawsuit against me and that I would be arrested.  When I called back there was no answer. I am reporting this to the local police.

I recieve a call from a man with a heavy India accent telling me he was with a law firm in Los Angelaa and that I had three criminal charges against me for a payday loan. He told me that my paper work was at a suburban police station when I live in the city of St. Louis and that investigators would be coming to me house nxt week to investigate it and that I have to appear in court next Friday. When I asked him how much the loan was for because I have never taken a loan through the company he stated that I should know and I told him that there is a such thing as fruad seeing how I have no clue who this company is and then he told me to get a lawyer and appear in court next Friday at 11:30 and then hung up. Needless to say, messed up my entired mood and day at work!!!!

Just got a call from this group.  I just got a call from a man with heavy accent calling himself Steven Jones from the Larry Parker Law office in Los Angeles CA. He said I would be served a subpeona tomorrow by my city's police dept. for 3 criminal felonies I had been charged with regarding an unpaid, online payday loan. Because of his accent, I had to ask him several times for his name and the name of the law office before I could understand him. He was rude and as I continued to ask questions about what this was in regard to, he told me he was the one asking questions, but I continued and at that point he hung up.  I called my local police dept. and they told me it was a scam and that another woman was there with the same issue.  I was told not to answer any more calls and that if someone showed up at my home tomorrow not to answer the door and to call 911 and the police would be there right away.  It was quite terrifying, but now I'm furious.

I received similar calls on my home and work answering machines. American name with heavy Indian accent. They have called from other numbers and "law firms" I suggest anyone else getting these calls to ignore them. Obviously a scam.

I just got a call today from the same number...heavy india accent and that I needed to contact my police dept and i would have to go to court next week.
I asked for a case number & contact info and who had hired him.... all i got was you must go to the police dept.. and gave me their address UGGGGGGG..   needless to say upset my day

recieved a call from a man with a heavy accent told me to go to the sheriff i have papers there for me for a loan i was to have taken a year ago when i asked him what law office he was from he wouldnt reply when i told him to send me all the proof to the address he has then i will believe him until then this is a scam it cost me 35 dollars to change my number to stop this person from contacting me so everyone beware and dont give up any info and report this number

They been calling for days. You cant understand what they are saying. India accent, but American names. He said that I need to show up in California court my Tuesday.When I told him this was a scam and I would report him @ this number to the FTC. He hung up.

Called me talking about a law suit and contacting local police so i called back and told them to tell me about it he hung up so then i went to the local police and called again now all i get is a busy singal

WOW WHO  ARE THESE PEOPLE ..I JUST RECEIVED A CALL FROM 661-243-3225 SAYING I'M BEING SUED AND GOING TO JAIL OVER A $$5,000 LOAN I NEVER GOT A LOAN ...ITS A BUNCH OF CRAP AND NOW THE SOB WONT ANSWER TH PHONE ANYMORE ...I HATE PEOPLE LIKE THIS ...

I keep getting these phone calls from so called "attorney's" stating that they have a case against me and that if I don't pay right now they are going to the police.  The funny thing is when I ask them for the information they say they can't give it to me.  The police will have the info when they come to arrest me.  Also if I had chosen to pay them off, which I did not!  I could not use my debit or credit card.  I would have to go and get a pre-paid Green Dot Money Card.  Load the money on to that.  Scratch off a number off the back of said card.  Then call him back with that number.   I asked him why I can't use my card and he had no answer.  I told him that I would deal with the police when they came to arrest me.  I average two of these calls per month.  ITS A SCAM!!!!

I received a call from this same number twice today and he said that I should call my local police department and also left the police physical address. Heavy accent which was super hard to understand. I let it go to my voicemail so I could pass it along to the authorities as I am sure this has to be illegal. It sickens me as this isn't the first time that they have called my number. He also was very threatening to me and said I need to pick up my file at the police station. So I will be going to the police with the messages and see what we can all do to stop this craziness!! Major scam.

I RECIEVED A CALL TODAY FROM A BEN JOHNSONSTATING THAT HE WAS FROM A LAW OFFICE AND THAT MY FILE WAS BENG FORWARD TO THE LOCAL POLICE STATION. DID'NT STATE WHAT IT WAS A BOUT. I HAVE BEEN RECEIVING  CALLS FROM THESE PEOPLE FOR OVER A YEAR NOW,, WHEN THEY STARTED THEY SAID IT WAS FOR A UN PAYED LOAN 6 OR 7 YEARS AGO WHEN I ASKS THEM TO SEND ME A COPY OF THE CLAIM  ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO STILL WAITING. THE PEOPLETHAT CALL ARE OF INDIA ACCENT, THEY  SAID THE FIRST TIME I SPOKE TO THEY SAID I COULD SOLVE IT BY SENTING MONEY BY WESTERN UNION OR MONEYGRAM,,( NOT) I AM A SENIOR CITIZEN THAT WORKS FOR WHAT MONEY I HAVE ,

I got an emergency call from John Hodgins of the Law Office of Larry H. Parker notifying me that my claim had been submitted to the local police.  Threatening phone calls are illegal for collection purposes; so, I ignored it and nothing happened.
