This board is simply a sounding board for people to vent and inform others of scam telemarketing calls they receive.  There is no authority associated with the 800notes site to stop these callers.  In order for people to collectively stop these type calls they must act together - and TAKE ACTION!  It doesn?t do any good to complain about a caller on this board unless you then take the next step and do something about it!  The caller ID number is usually a ?Spoof Number? ? A Fake!  Never, never, ever engage the caller or call back the number.  The false robocallers will then capture your number as a ?live one? and use it over and over and sell it to other scammers.  The same goes if it prompts you to ?press a key? to ?opt out?  of their calling lists, or be transferred to someone, as this will only ?log? your number as a working one and make it ripe for future calls and to be sold to other scam companies as well.
The best option is simply to hang up, keep your own list of calling numbers with dates and times and report them to the FCC below.  There is space on their complaint form to list several calling dates and times of a repeat caller.
The DO NOT CALL list is worthless, they do not act on anything, just build a database of numbers.
In order to do something to help stop these type calls, everyone - EVERYONE needs to file an online complaint directly with the FCC.  If they receive enough complaints about a particular number - they will act on it.  Do it today and pass along the info:

caller ID shows up as MSKCC but no 1 ever leaves a message on answering machine.  Googled initials & comes up as Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Ctr.  They don't make phone calls.  So this is a scam.  Complain where you can

I've received 3 calls and I answered the first time.  It is Memorial Sloan Kettering.  I said no interest and hung up.  Yesterday, I got a call, and again today which went unanswered.  It is possible the person I spoke to the first time was lying.  I do get many mailings from them because I gave a donation once two years ago.

This number calls almost daily, sometimes twice a day.  Caller ID registers as MSKCC and when I do answer, they ask for me by name.  I have told five different callers to stop calling, I'm not going to give them anything.  The calls persist nonetheless.  There really should be a law.

The number is a paid call service for Sloan Kettering Cancer Hospital in NY.  It is legitimate, but the caller gets a percentage of each donation.  I do donate to Sloan, but directly so they get 100% of the donation.

I received a call from 661-670-2578, and no pick up the phone. FCC and FTC do not work out, they are not able to stop unwanted calls.

I've received at least 2 calls a day from 661 670-2578 everyday for months.  I've told them they are harrassing me and to please removed my number, which they don't do.  When they call now I just pick up the phone and drop it dow.  The government registered list is a joke.

No NPO that won't identify itself on Caller ID will ever receive a penny from me.  There are too many legitimate good causes out there to waste time with this kind of deceptive trash.

I called back the number and I got the recording from mskcc  that I have reached the donation center, I donate by mail and if they dont stop calling me I told them I will stop making donations.

Despite our being on the DNC list, MSKCC continues to call. Why can't this be stopped?   We never answer unrecognized numbers, but it is inconvenient to race to the phone to check caller ID.

It is also showing up as MSKCC on my caller id as well.  I answered yesterday and firmly (to put it mildly) stated that I wanted to be removed from their list and if I received any further calls from them I would be contacting the government.  I got another call on my caller id list today when I got home.

It becomes "too hard just to answer" when one must do this repeatedly just to get a positive ID on the caller due to abandoned calls. The difficulty increases when the reps finally do respond and disconnect before a person can finish uttering the phrase "do not call". That, by the way is the proper phrase, or "Place this number ON your no-call list". This demand is best delivered on paper, sent USPS Certified with return card, so the offending commercial fundraiser / call center has no choice but to comply.

These call ARE "legit".  Charities and political organizations ARE allowed to call you.  Is it too hard just to answer and say 'take me off your list?'-- Try it.

The government has done all they can with the Do Not Call list--if charities or political organizations are not allowed to call, how would they get donations?  Direct mail doesn't work too well either so the phone is what they have to use.  Answer and ask them not to call and most (not all) will respect that request.

Just got a call, MSKCC on the caller ID, but I didn't answer it and they didn't leave a message on the machine. I'm in Iowa and I would say less than 5% of our calls are legit. Most are related to the presidential race or charity solicitations, so my guess is that if MSKCC isn't Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, it's someone fraudulently representing them ... or a new candidate. I stored the number in my phone's phone book with no ring associated. One less annoyance.
