These people are not in Cambodia or India, that is just ridiculous. The fact that it's a Harshad number is only because you typed it in without spaces. Google just picks up on the fact that it's a mathematical expression. It gets it name from the the fact that it was discovered in India by those that take more pride in their education and learning math than United States citizens. A mathematician in India was the first person to define these numbers. It means that an integer is divisible by the sum of it's digits. If you type the number in with dashes in between the numbers you will get an entirely different search result. My husbands cellphone number happens to be a Harshad number because we live in the 951 area code. That doesnt make his cellphone a spam caller. This company happens to be in an area code that becomes divisible by it's integer. If you have the same base number with a different area code you would come up with a different result.

First off the number is only a Harshad number because you googled it without spaces. When you google it with the dashes between the numbers then it tells you that it's a collection company for Advanced Cash U.S.A. This would be for the corporation that owns several payday loan establishments. The name of payday loan store itself may be different because it would be the corporates name. If you didn't take out a payday loan and default on it then go thru the credit bureaus to handle it. It is not a scam or phishing number, and don't ignore it, otherwise it will destroy your credit and they will follow you for years.

I am also getting odd numbers not just that number but from other numbers too..i got 16 calls just today.my phone never rings.and i dont get any missed call messages on my phone...does anyone know why they keep calling me?

I also have been getting harshad calls - I don't answer them and put them on 'block'  They NEVER leave a message.  I figure if they need to reach me they would leave a message or do snail mail.  I found out thru our broadband phone manager that these were coming from Cambodia...????

These guys are from India, specifically from a rural area around Punjab.  They get the reports from fake loan application forms and then try to extort money from American people.  There are around 12 people at a time doing this and they are all pretty young, in their early to mid 20's.  They use the internet to look at maps around where your form say's your address is and try to sound official.  Their philosophy is that why do we get work and make dollars when they do the same work as we do and only make rupees.  I know, it doesn't really make any sense, but they are from villages and don't understand politics very much.  They stay up late all night a couple of times per month trying to get money this way.  I don't think that they have ever made money because it's too obvious that they are scamming you.  As soon as they called me I knew that the guys name wasn't James Brown since he could hardly speak English.  I had a long conversation with them in Hindi and in Panjabi and basically anyone who actually gives money to these guys is pretty naive.  I don't think that they will ever be caught because initially when I got them to give me a routing number to send them money via western union and then called the FBI, the FBI wasn't concerned about it and didn't want to waste their time.  Also the CBI in India rates these scams as lowest priority so they will never consider doing anything about it.  The only thing that we can do is get hold of the Panjabi culture here in the states and spread the word that this is happening because really their culture is very proud of not begging for money and being good model citizens.  The Sikh culture holds begging for money at such of a low standard that in India the homeless people never ask for anything and people always offer to give them food/money without them asking.  That's all we can do, get the word out and word travels fast that these people are embarrassing their culture.

I have received the same calls, he states his name is Officer John Smith, I will be arrested and sent to jail. Then says May God bless you, I tried to help.

calls me at all times of the day from very early morning today a 407 am to late at night.  Hangs up and doesn't say anything.  anyone else gets calls from this number.    I think its a company called protfolio recovery it started after I refussed to pay an 12 year old debt i supposely have.

They called me and had my Bank Account Information..

I HAVE BEEN GETING CALLS FROM THIS # 661-776-5865.  hE STATES HIS NAME IS HARRY BROWN.   HE ALSO STATES THAT I WILL BE SUEED AND SERVED.  THEY HAVE USED CELL NUMBERS TO CALL MY WORK AND MYN HOME.  I HAVE TOLD THENM DO NOT CALL MY WORK  OVER AND OVER AGAIN.  I DO NOT KNOW WHO THESE PEOPLE ARE .  THEY HAVE AN INDIAN FROM THE COUNTRY ACCENT.  I JUST WANT THEM TO STOP.

I have been getting constant calls from these people as well. it is from someone with a strange accent. they called twice saying i didnt pay a loan i took out years ago when i was still 16 which is impossible to do from the internet. and then i get a call stating that i got a loan from them of august 2010. i have looked over my bank statements and there is no money which was given to me by "pay-day-loan". it is a total fraud and i have proved them wrong twice in  this act. dont fall for it.

The guy claims his name is Victor. His accent made him very difficult to understand. He was demanding to speak to one of our employees. There were at least 10 calls from him in as many minutes.

A guy called by the name shane austin. He states that my husband got an advance for $250 back
in sept.2010 which we don't recall taking one out at that time. He further explains that if we don't settle
this account for $488 dollars that his lawyers will start taking legal actions. I also asked him to send
me documention about the debt and from what company, and he said he couldn't. I told him, "Go ahead and take legal action.  Without documentation, we ain't paying S&*(+...All I know, is that
this is a SCAM and I don't have any knowledge of any kind of debt of this nature.  I hung up shortly after, and he had the nerve to call back...this time he didn't leave a message.  He called my husband at work as well, and left the same "Wrath of God" message.  My husband called him back @ 661-776-5865 and ask for Harry Brown, Victor, Jeff Matthews and Shane Austin.  Whomever answered asked what the call was concerning.  My husband said this was in regards to a phone call they will be receiving shortly from our legal council.  Whoever answered asked if there was a Harry Brown, Vicro, Jeff Matthews and Shane around, and there was no one there by that name.  BOY...for someone with such an american name, he surely doesn't sound it.  The guy asked my husband which account this was for.  He told him 510-765-4321.  I suggest you all do the same until these guys figure out they can't pull one over on us.

I too have recieved calls from this number and they even have my checking account numbers, social security number and my email address......kinda scary but when i requested info they told me they dont have any except it was about a loan i took out in september with a checking account i didnt have until november.....hmmmm

I just recieved a call from 661-776-5965 saying I will be sue about a cash advance for 393.56 from us cash advance the guy said he is from American Law and his name is Jeff Mathews

This is a free Harshad phone number, which keeps calling my home and work telling me I am being sued. This is the same foreign "hard to understand" caller which has been calling for a year. He changes numbers and the name of his company every few months and it is a scam. I choose to suffer the "Wrath of God which is about to fall on my head if I do not settle." I have been threatened with arrest at work and home, I told them to have me arrested, served, sued, whatever, just stop calling! I have asked for documentation by certified mail and I have never received anything. I monitor my credit files like a hawk and I have no negative listings, which if this was legit, it would be reported with the credit reporting companies.

I am also receiving calls from this number at work and at home.  Caller says his name is Snell Mathews or Daniel Hopkins.  They have threatened me with arrest and law suits.  Very strong accents.  I have asked for written documentation and of course they will not provide anything.  Got another call this morning at work stating I had two hours to pay or be arrested at work, placed in handcuffs and put in jail.  I have asked them not to call me at work, but so far that hasn't worked.

I received a call at work today from a man with a thick accent. I could not understand him and told him to call my home phone and leave a message. I told him to not contact me at work and hung up.  He called 2 more times and I again told him to not call me at work. On the fourth call, the secretary took down his name and phone number. He said his name was Snell.  At home, I had 2 messages left from the same guy. The messages could not be understood because of his accent. I called the number and spoke to another man with an accent who called himself Harry Brown. He told me that I owe money to Advance Cash USA and that I was being sued. I told this man that I do not owe this company any money and that I thought this was a scam. I then hung up. I did not receive a phone call back. How can I stop these people from calling my job?  Who can I report this too?

Yep this dude called me and said my SSN is under investigation.  He had a very thick indian accent as well.

I too received a call from a man named Shane Austin.  He said I owed money from a cash advance, and that they were going to file charges at the courthouse on Monday if I didn't pay them. I called the company that he said I supposedly had the original loan with, and the guy there said this is a scam that Homeland Security is aware of and that I needed to call all 3 credit bureaus and place a fraud alert on my file!!

This person goes by the name David Johnson but sounds Indian keeps calling my house, where I work, even where I volunteer! i have no idea how he got my information, and when you call the number back I get a message saying "you can't leave a message". This is pure harassment and he must be stopped!

This person has called me several times I have reported him to the police. I want him to stop calling me.  This is harassment.  I do not owe him or anyone anything.

Hey this guy calls my work and phone also and he is probably a criminal. He has changed the name of the company several times also. He says hes going to sue me and i told him well send me the paper work then. this guy needs to be stopped.

This guy named smell multner calls my job and other phone numbers and says he is an investigator and tells me I'm being sued and i better pay and so on., you cant even understand him . He has embarrassed me at work. He says hes in California. He says they are watching my home, and i told him not to get to close. This guy needs to be arrested and prosecuted. I have very crapy credit so i wished him the best with it. I told him to sue me and asked for proof of this and he has yet to send anything to me in the mail. I cuss this guy out when he calls now and my employer has told him that if he calls back again they would go after him with there legal department on my behalf. This guy is very strange. I'm going to buy a phone though thats a throw away and i plan on calling him and telling him what he has told me, that he is being sued and watched. Give him a taste of his own medicine. I truly am paying my credit off already threw a place that helps you clean up your credit. Beware of this guy if he calls you. He is a criminal. He does say hes from some legal service and i highly doubt this.
