11/18/08-received on cell - no vm. on call back it was "Publishers Sweepstakes"

I received a call from this number today. The man told me I had been entered in a sweepstakes and was a finalist to win $100,000. He told me my name had been drawn in the "early bird" drawing. I was informed that I am incredibly lucky because they only do the early bird drawing once a year. He told me that I had also won the other prizes like the diamond watch. He asked me to tell him if I preferred Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express. Then he explained that I would need to sign up for two free magazines for one year and then pay $3.25 a week for another one. He said it would be for a maximum of 60 months. When I hesitated and figured out what that would cost ($845), he became very rude. I asked what the minumum committment would be and he said "1 year, 24 months." I said which one. He said they (the publishers) would probably pick one of those. I said I was not interested and he said, "Well, thank you very much for wasting my time." and hung up on me. WOW~! He calls me and I keep him on the line for all of about one and a half minutes and I wasted his time. How rude of ME!!!!!

I have received a call from this phone number 2 times this week and all within 5 minutes from each other.  I received another call from this number last week.  I never answerd the phone, but I did call the number back.  A man answerd the phone publishers sweepstakes.  I told him that the need to quit call my cell number.  He asked me for my name.  I told him I was not giving out that information.  He said then how where they not going call any more "DUHH" real snobbish like and hung up.  I called the phone number back again, they picked up the phone but didn't say anything and hung up.  I called back again it went to a Kayla's voice mail.  I tried the phone number again and it went to Kayla's voice mail again.  If this were a real company they would have at least took down my number and tried to work something out instead of being a bunch of idiots.  Watch out.

Just got a call from this number and didn't pick up.  Instead, I did a Google search for that number and found this site. Thanks!  I hope everyone does as the other member (sickofsolicitors) and makes sure you don't ever answer a question on the phone from one of these people by saying "yes" or "no".  Simply say 'I understand'.  If they are taping the conversation, a scammer will be trying to grab a sound-bite of you saying one of those words.
I love sites like this where you can see that other people have gotten calls from unknownnumbers and where we can see if a phone number is a known scammer or solicitor.

Thanks for the Sweepstakes tip. My husband enters these sweepstakes for fun and I was unaware of this and received a call today from the unknown caller at 662-796-1907.

A man called me and told me that I had entered a Contest/Sweepstakes a long time ago.  He told me that I was one of the persons chosen from Pennsylvania to win a chance to enter into their Contest in September to win a Vacation for a Week and other prizes given if I win.  He told me that in appreciation for letting them enter my name that I would receive a choice of a Men's Diamone Watch or a Ladies Diamond Watch.....my choice worth $350.00.  Also, I have a choice of 200 hotels in the USA to choose from for a FREE 3 day and two night vacation anywhere in USA.  He told me I had to pay the gas to get there and buy my own food, but the hotel is fully paid.  It was a Vacation for two.  He told me it is not a Scam and is all the real truth!  He said to watch for the information in the Postal Mail and it would look like junk mail but is green and is NOT Junk mail.  I chose the Ladie's Diamond watch and he said thank you and we hung up.  He said his name was Edward Martin and he told me his company.  The name is right what I listed but I can't remember the first part of that name of the Company.  I searched the internet for that company when I did remember it's name and I found absolutely nothing.  I also called him back and he returned my call when I wasn't home, but left me no messages.  My husband called him once too and he did the same there, for we weren't home then.  Real or not real....I called him  back and told him on his voice mail that if it is real then where is the Mail you promised to me and if it is not real...........Why are you doing this?  Never got any answer as of yet!
