I received a call on 12-06-2012 at 11:19 am, saying, "hi grampa". I thought I recognized the voice of an X-co-worker,saying he was in jail in Atlanta for DUI, and needed $2,000 to $6,000 to get out and to get home. When I told him I hadn't worked in over a year, and couldn't help him, he hung up.

Just received the "hi grandma" call, when I ask 'who is this' they hung.....I knew it was scam. Always ask a personal question and they usually hang up.

This person called on 11-23-12. He prevoiusly called on 11-7-12. He said that he was my grandson, that he was in jail in NY, and needed $1800 for bail. Suspecting a scam, I said I couldn't send him the money, so he hung up. This time I was a little smarter and asked him what his name was. He said "Michael" which was the wrong answer. I told him that I was aware of his scam, and he hung up. I hope this helps in stopping this sort of thing.

BEWARE OF ANY CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER??Caller from 667-889-8888 called my elderly parents and after a short Q&A session ascertained the fact they had a grandson. These unscrupulous scumbags then proceeded to tell them that their grandson was in a car accident in NY and had been arrested and that he needed $1800 bail money sent via western union to a fictitious attorney at a different phone number. They even had a person call them back pretending to be their grandson thanking them if they could help. Additional numbers to be aware of are 661-748-0240 and 404-382-9167

Your comment shows the need for Grandparents, parents & children to have a secret word, or phrase. Something they don't post on facebook. Caller doesn't respond correctly, hang up.

Caller said "Hey,Grandma, how you doin? You don't recognize your grandson's voice?" When I told him he didn't sound like any grandson of mine he hung up. This same caller reached my hubby on a different day and said he was in jail and needed $5000 for bond money.
