I just received the exact same phone call at my job and she left the same exact voicemail on my phone. I am so sick and tired of these people calling and trying to scam us out of our money. I just went thru one whereby i had to close my debit card out and get a new because of this type of issue.

This is a scam and by no means am i giving them any kind of my personal information. I have already reported them to my local authorities and also no one trying to collect money from you would call you and threatening or harass you in any form it's not legal.

A lady by the name of Ms. Colman called and said she was from the Honorary Law Firm and she is going to send the information to my county if I did not call her today.  She left a message on the phone saying that there was compromised information into my name and social security number and I need to call her today.  I have no idea what this is about.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

I just received a call from a Lisa Coleman who is trying to tell me about some payday loan that i took out in 2011 and couldn't give me the exact lender and said that they are filing papers on me and i have no idea what she is talking about because i had taken a payday loan out a while back but in turn paid it off so don't know what she talking about. How can these people just call you up and try to tell this bs without any proper information.

So sick of these calls and these types of people.

No they can not. A collector can not talk to the 3rd parties about your debt. They can not send out warrants or make threats of jailing you for debt <they are not law inforcement>. This sounds like a scam to me and if I were you I would report this number to the FTC, and your State Attorney General. Also inform your employer of this scam so they know that the calls you are getting are not your fault. Also if you think you personal info haven been stolen get a police report and call the credit agencies to put a security freeze on your credit reports.

Yes this lady called me and said i took out a payday loan from this company called loanyes.com i have never even heard of this company. And she said i took the loan out in 2008 so i said wouldn't they have called me back than, and she said they have been trying to reach me. that was a lie. when u apply for any payday loan online your application is shopped off to all these other loan sites and anyone from a different area code or someone out of the country can have access to all your personal information that u put in your application. This woman's name is peggy winslow. i have legal aid checking them out as we speak. I feel they are running a scam on people.
