Debt Collector
I received the same phone call, but the funny thing is that I receive a phone call a month ago from a company out of Texas claiming the same thing. Both companies were very rude, I was hung up on many times and even called back by the "so called" attorney just so that he could call me a dumb a##hole and then hang up. I contacted the alleged co court house to report them and I asked some questions. I was told that this is a scam and that all cases would be handled through the court house and that state official notices would be presented by state officials via mail or in person which shoots down the claim given by the fraud caller who stated that the courts allowed them to handle the situation which is a total lie...  The court official that I spoke with said that a lady she spoke with was just brought up on criminal charges because she was caught working in a house that she believed to be legit call service debt collection company, but the police raided the house because it was a total fraud. Many of these companies pass along or sell info from one fraudulent company to another which makes it harder for people to skip trace them. This company above has "Bold Ideas" showing up on the caller id, but they answer the phone as Anderson arbitration which when looked up is very tricky and on a google search the only anderson arbitration was in Canada. FRUAD FRUAD FRUAD...  These people are a modern day WOLF OF WALL STREET threatening people uninformed of their civil rights with criminal charges.

Got a call from this guy Carl Anderson from some arbitration dept.  He doesn't bother to say who he's with or what it pertains to.  He never says who the call is for.   Demands that I or my attorney call him back.  Now the guy is calling again today from completely different number.  I am pretty sure this is fraud because legit bill collectors do not operate this way.  Also, they are required to contact you by mail which I have not been.  Nor have I ever in my life has a pay day loan.  Problem is when you block these people they just call back from a different number.  This is a big clue these folks are not legit and out to get your information or sucker you out of money that you don't owe.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

A person identifying himself as Carl Anderson in the arbitration dept calling about a case pending against me and to have my attorney of record or myself contact him immediately at the above number. I live in Ca. and any case against me would be out of ca. and I would be severed this is a dept collector trying to scare me. There really should be a law against this sort of practice.
