Prank Call
I also received a call about 2 weeks ago, the guy told me about a debt I owed from 2010.  I informed him that I knew of no such debt.  I asked why this was not showing up on my credit report and he said they usually don't.  He said that they were going to file a court order against me, but would like to work with me with payments.  The scary part was that he knew my SS#.  I almost fell for it, but told him I wanted something in writing sent to me through the mail.  He said he would e-mail it to me...and i said no, I wanted it sent in the mail so I could document it and discuss it with my lawyer.  He got off the phone with me in a hurry and hung up.
So today they called me again at work, but under another company name. I just got off the phone with these people and told them again that I told them before that I wanted something on paper and sent to me through the mail. He rudely said that you have been warned and he was going to contact my HR Dept to set up a garnishment of my wages to settle this debt. RIght after they got off the phone with me, they then called my Human Resources Department but she said she would only give me a message and that was all.  These people are very persistent. They keep calling and won't give up. Do not give them any information.

Debt Collector
I have received several telephone calls from a representative (Carl Moore) of RSB Equity Group, LLC in Roswell Georgia at my place of employment.  Specifically he telephoned and left a voice mail message at work stating he had verified my employment and suit worthiness with my employer and I needed to contact him that day.  I returned his telephone call for him to tell me that he was getting ready to send my file across the street to proceed with a suit against me.  I asked him what the debt was and he said it was a payday loan.  He did not tell me how old it was or who it was originally with so I could not verify the accuracy of the debt owed.  I asked him the amount and he said with fees and interest it was over $2,000 and the original payday loan was $450.00.  I told him to stop calling me at work and to send me whatever information he had to me through the mail so I could review it for accuracy.  He was rude and I hung up on him.  He continued to telephone me five more times in the next 3-4 minutes at work.  I answered again and told him not to contact me at work.  He said he was going to vierify my employment for suit worthiness.  He had told me during our first conversation that he had already done this.  A short time later, our HR Manager came to me at work and said that she had received a phone call from Carl Moore at RSB Equity verifying my employment and that he was going to be garnishing my wages.  She said she asked him to send her the paperwork before she implemented any garnishment of my wages.  This is total false information and harassment of me at my workplace, embarssment with my employer and he has absolutely no right to threaten garnishment of wages without any kind of notification to me whatsoever other than a harassing phone call of the validity of the debt owed and to who and for what amount.  He cannot garnish wages without a court order yet impliles that is what he will be doing.  No paperwork of any kind has been received from RSB Equity by me to verify the debt in any way.

I can assure you that this company is not a scam, I had owe a payday loan from 2007 and even though I knew it was past the statute of limitation the young lady was very nice to me that I want  ahead and paid it because she was able to provide me with detailed information and that is when I knew that god does not want me to someone who does not own up to their responsibilities.

It's good that you only paid them $50 and then cancelled the account.  This company is nothing more than a bottomfeeder debt collector.  They are lowlife scam artists.  I'm assuming that they never sent you debt validation in the mail or any other documentation pertaining to the debt they claim you owe.  By law they need to send you debt validation.  Do you have their address?  If so, then send them a debt validation request and a cease and desist letter both by certified mail.  Most likely they won't be able to send you proper debt validation because they don't own the debt and legally can not try to collect on it, if even it was owed.

You will not go to jail.  Debtor's prison was abolished a very long time ago.  It's just an illegal scare tactic to get you to give them money.  This is nothing more than a civil matter.  From what I've read of your post it sounds like these scumbags have violated a couple FDCPA violations which is $1000 fine each time.

They keep using other numbers. First it was coming out of deleware. I looked up the firms they were supposedly with and nothing but voip landlines. Saying they were from Morgan Downey and Associates. Then a processing server named dean. I called these guys back and started harassing them. I got scared when they first called me cause we have a family of 6 and I did not want to go to jail but I could not remember that loan. Short story they got 50.00 from me and I cancelled that account. Then they called from a 207 area code but when I confronted the lady she was like ummm I'm in Georgia from RSB. Ive kept all emails and phone numbers and emailed all attorney generals regarding this. These people get nasty so I've started calling them a ton.

I had this to happen to me today.  I got a call and they said they will call my employer and serve me paper to appear in court.  I had some many calls from these numbers in the past. I admit that I didn't know this was a scam company, so I gave them at least $1200 to settle.  After it was paid in full, I call and got a recording and it says that this number have been disconnected.  That's when I knew it was a scam.  SCAM!!!!!

This Curtis Nolan from RSB Equity called about a payday loan in 2010.. I've had these calls before so I already knew this was a scam.. I told them I had a receipt that showed I already paid that off so I faxed it to them.. Then it took me like 20 tries before I could get them to answer.. He then tells me this is just a paper to them and they would have to investigate this to see if it was real or not..  I said fine and in the process I would go to my lawyer and have them investigated also.. Makes me so mad these type of people think they will get money from me!!!

I am another one Roy owes money to.  He settled a personal injury case then took the cash for himself.  He ultimately signed a couple of promissory notes to repay me--but alas--what a surprise, he hasn't paid me in over a year.  My recommendation is to steer clear of him as I believe he lacks integrity and character!

So this lady by the name of Marie brown from rsb equity group called me yesterday informing me that I had a complaint filed against me for not repaying a payday loan from 2007 . At first she was very nice and gave me time to find proof that I paid this debt which I did and once I called her back she changed her whole tone and was extremely rude and unprofessional spewing garbage out of her trashy mouth. I just wanna say ms brown "hunny" you need to find yourself a real job! I heard prostitution pays well and if your not tricking already outside of your fraudulent co you claim to the manager of you should find the nearest corner down there in Georgia and do what you do best. I pity you and have alerted the authorities including your local police and the FTC . Yes I did take a payday loan when I was much younger and she told me that her company gets paid wo taking loans well all I have to say is at least I didn't start a scam and don't come from the gutter like you. My attorney will be in touch!

LOL! The law is very clear, and it say's they (keyword is "shall") will! Period, no if ands or buts! Also, if  a legal Attorney is acting as a Debt Collector, they do have to be licensed to collect debt!

Section 809 of the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf requires 3rd-party debt collectors to give debtors written notice of debt (the key word is *shall*) :
"§ 809. Validation of debts
(a) Within five days after the initial communication with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt, a debt collector shall, unless the following information is contained in the initial communication or the consumer has paid the debt, send the consumer a written notice containing?
(1) the amount of the debt;
(2) the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;
(3) a statement that unless the consumer, within thirty days after receipt of the notice, disputes the validity of the debt, or any portion thereof, the debt will be assumed to be valid by the debt collector;
(4) a statement that if the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, the debt collector will obtain verification of the debt or a copy of a judgment against the consumer and a copy of such verification or judgment will be mailed to the consumer by the debt collector; and
(5) a statement that, upon the consumer?s written request within the thirty-day period, the debt collector will provide the consumer with the name and address of the original creditor, if different from the current creditor."

Just got off the phone w/ these A-Holes.  The guy on the other end claims that he would not sent a letter of verification for the 'debt'.  The reasoning is that I would use it for my personal use and to give it to my lawyer and not use it to pay off this supposed 'debt'.  I kept asking for it and he kept refusing.  He claims they don't have too since they're legal representation and not a debt collection agency.  Load of crap.  Don't give these guys any information.

These people are FRAUDS. They got my girl friend to pay them $110. This just happened on September 6, 2013. It was thru a PayPal Debit MasterCard, so thanks to PayPal we go it back. They call in early morning hours like 7:30am. They threaten to serve papers, to have you arrested, and etc. They only know that sometime in your past that you had a "Pay Day Loan". They build on that knowledge and scare some people in giving them money. They need to be stopped!

I have been harassed multiple times by these people, claiming to be lawyers and would turn me in for hot check writing.  I called the payday loan company who confirmed I had paid off the loan in 2009.  I called these jerks who are adamant they had "fees" for just having my account.  I offered to send them proof it was paid, they refused to take it. Reported to the BBB.

I received a call from 676-869-0408 about a Payday Loan from 2006. They had information about my references etc.. I told them I had gone bankrupt in 2010. They insisted that payday loans do not go away; and that they were going to garnish my check for 2x the amount. They refused to give me a Supervisor's number; claimed that they were going to process the claim today,   blah blah blah. Not to mention that they woke me up at 8:00 in the morning. I've received calls as early as 7:30 in the morning. I thought creditors couldn't call that early? I am totally unaware of a loan from this company they claim they're collecting from.

Marie Brown has called several times from RSB Equity.  Says they will garnish my checks.  The debt is from 2006 and was included in my bankruptcy. They called my Human Resources and left a message. They could tell it was a fishy caller (scam) and did not call them back.  I am sending no contact letter today.

I then said I AM NOT THE ONE you are looking for, you will not call here again, and I am turning you into the authorities. I said you are a scam!  OMG..... they just keep going from one number to the next...I have had enough ... This lady was completely disrespectful.  After I hung up, there was a call back and they hung up.

I received a call from a male representing RSB Equity who advised I had an outstanding payday loan fromm 2009 for over $1000 and he wanted me to make arrangements. I told him without all of his information and the companies information along with the orginal creditor information I can't help him. Someone called me last year a lady who was very rude regarding the same thing but never provided anything either. I can't clear up something I don't know abt. He said he would forward my folder if I was cooperating to a processing dept for wage garnishment. Do as you please I was out of work all last year and have no extra money to just throw around. I don't know what MD law states but I will find out today.

Received a call yesterday from RSB Equity group 678--869-0404, stating its from a loan I had back in 2010 or 2011of 250.00 but is now $1010 due to fees (cant remember) he stated he was going to have to verify my employment and a case was being brought up against me.  He as kept putting me on hold, not even a real hold line but just dead silence.  First he offered me a settlement of 75% (275) then he said he could do a 1 month settlement for 575 then he said I could pay 168 every month for 6 mos,I told him I ONLY had 20.00 to my name, he then puts me on hold again and says ok I just spoke with my manager and we will take the $20 today and then make arrangements for the remainder of the month.  I then became suspicious b.c even though he had my OLD employer, something STILL wasnt right about the conversation, not to mention, he wasnt sending me anything in writing, we were just going to make the arrangements over the phone, these people have gotten money from me before, I guess I will take my chances in court if need be.
