The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Company called said I bounced a check.  Clearly not my phone number or handwriting on a check that was written in 2003?  Something was way off.

I am filing a complaint on Primary Solution Group. The company is located in Marietta GA: address P0 box 71021 Marietta GA30007 phone 678-601-5395 AND  fax# 678-601-5425

On 03/17/2014 My husband received a phone call from a company by the name of Primary Solutions Group. The caller went by agent Jenkins; He failed to site the disclosure verification of debt at the beginning of his call.  He stated my husband owed them money on an account they obtained 12/31/2008 and they have been working on a criminal case that they will be filing with Harris County.  The caller even gave him a bogus case number, and then told him he had 24 hrs to make arrangements to pay $640.00 or they would go forward with charging him with Bank Fraud. The caller knew our old address, and the references he would have used in 2006, he even knew the bank he used at the time.

They offered him three payment arrangements all in which had to be paid over the phone.

We decided to do so research, we called the corporate office of the client they claimed to be representing multiple times. The Corporate office of Ace Cash Express stated more than once that my husband had a zero balance and did not owe their company a dime.

My husband then called agent Jenkins back , only to be told he was busy, a lady at this company stated that my husband purposely closed his account with the bank and failed to pay Ace Cash Express, she then asked for his personal information again, He replied by telling her that he spoke with the Ace Corporate Office and they state he does not owe them anything?..surprisingly this lady replied ?well this is what we have in our system and if you don?t make payment we will proceed with the charges?. He then asked her to send him something in writing and if, she then refused and said she would send him an e-mail the next day.

Today we get and email from agent Jenkins stating my husband owes $640.00 . They claim that his account has been placed with their Investigative department and that an arrangement for restitution for the debt is expected as well as a statement concerning the matter on or before 03/21/2014. They then again threatened action against my husband and urged him to call them back with payment immediately.

Today they have called from several different numbers, they called from 202-417-2021 and left an automated message stating that my husband has charges against him and he had to return their call by 3pm today to pay the debt he owed they would proceed with action against him.

I in turn called that number back and a guy answered, he would not give his name he only stated that the place I was calling was a law office. He could not give any explanation as to why his company called other than: ? if he is in the system he owes?.

I also called their number that was provided on their email/ website 678-601-5395 and asked to speak with agent Jenkins he hung up when he heard my voice.  I called back and a woman who called herself agent Goddard answered and quickly got an attitude when I explained that Ace Corporate office is stating my husband has a zero balance, I asked her why she was harassing my husband, and she could only result in being ignorant and name calling, she would not give a mailing address of a license # for their company. She could not explain why they were saying he owed when we in fact didn?t. We went back and forth shortly before she hung up. That happened a couple of times. I called back one last time and a third agent picked up the phone, he placed me on hold the hung up as well.

They have called from a fake local 713# and a 1-877237-8512

The nearest Ace Cash rip offs to Denmark SC (Bamburg County SC) are:

1081 John C Calhoun Dr
Orangeburg
(Orangeburg County SC), and

109 Robertson Blvd
Walterboro (Colleton  County SC)

Bamburg County is sandwiched between O'burg and Colleton counties.  Denmark is TINY and poverty ridden.  Been there before. Cute little town. An irrelevant Geography lesson o' the day.

So... South Carolina seems to be "eat up" with pay day lenders.  There is pretty much one in every strip mall, even in more affluent areas.  Funny story... just made a temporary move to one of the demographically most wealthy counties in SC.  Went to the nearest strip shopping center for groceries.  There was a pay day loan joint right next door to a liquor store.  Wonder if that was by design?

I've done a bit of my own research via Georgia's database of licensed Private Investigations firms. Guess which firm didn't come up in their database ?

I would suggest you do your own research on this, but the State of Georgia requires that Private Investigators be licensed.

The truth is you're a troll - even if someone owes a debt, it is a violation of federal law for a debt collector to threaten with arrest.  Debt is civil, not criminal, so no one is arrested for failure to pay back a loan.  It is also a violation of federal law to refuse to provide written proof of debt owed and a company name and physical address.  Not to mention, it's FRAUD when a caller harasses you and wants you to pay a debt that you do not actually owe!  Looks like you're the deadbeat here.

Awww, your caplocks button is broken, poor lamb.  Would seem your logic capacitor is as well. :(

What practices are off limits for debt collectors?

Harassment. Debt collectors may not harass, oppress, or abuse you or any third parties they contact. For example, they may not:

use threats of violence or harm;
publish a list of names of people who refuse to pay their debts (but they can give this information to the credit reporting companies);
use obscene or profane language; or
repeatedly use the phone to annoy someone.

False statements. Debt collectors may not lie when they are trying to collect a debt. For example, they may not:

falsely claim that they are attorneys or government representatives;
falsely claim that you have committed a crime;
falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit reporting company;
misrepresent the amount you owe;
indicate that papers they send you are legal forms if they aren?t; or
indicate that papers they send to you aren?t legal forms if they are.

Debt collectors also are prohibited from saying that:

you will be arrested if you don?t pay your debt;
they?ll seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless they are permitted by law to take the action and intend to do so; or
legal action will be taken against you, if doing so would be illegal or if they don?t intend to take the action.

SOUNDS LIKE TO ME YOU GUYS ARE A BUNCH OF DEAD BEATS, WHO DONT WANT TO OWN UP TO YOUR PERSONAL FAULTS. SO AS A RESULT YOU GUYS ARE TRYING TO RATIONALIZE REASONS NOT TO PAY BACK DEBTS THAT YOU OWE. YOU SHOULDN'T BE BORROWING MONEY YOU CAN'T PAY BACK IN THE FIRST PLACE.  AT LEAST IF YOU DO, HAVE THE DECENCY AS A PERSON WHO WAS HELPED IN YOUR TIME OF NEED, TO PAY BACK THE COMPANIES YOU OWE. THAT?S HOW THESES PEOPLE GET YOUR INFORMATION, FROM YOU SIGNING YOUR LIFE AWAY TAKING OUT LOANS YOU DON?T PAY BACK THEN IT GOES FROM AGENCY TO AGENCY FROM THERE. I KNOW I WILL GET A LOT OF CRITICISM FOR SPEAKING THE TRUTH BUT, IT'S THE TRUTH, SO OH WELL.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

? filed under: Press Release

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

Please do file reports with the FBI, your state attorney general and Department Of Justice,FTC & FCC..

I got a phone call from "agent heats" who told me I owed on a payday loan from 2007. After reading everything on this website and others, I called the loan company I supposedly owed. They told me that I did owe and my debt had been sold. They gave me the name of the company it was sold to...it was NOT primary solution, to which this phone number is registered. "Agent heats" told me I owed $488, but the loan company and the other collection agency told me it was only $132! Primary Solutions is a scam! They threatened me by saying that if I didn't pay, I would get a felony! That's illegal!

I got two calls within a week of each other from "Agent Carolyn Heith" leaving voice messages stating I am a person of interest and they need to hear from me or my attorney within 24 hours or they will forward to my county. Guess what they left two different numbers to call back. 678-671-2620 on one message, the other message was 678-601-5395. Agent Heith- why do you have two different phone numbers? Because it's a scam. I work for my County and I am still waiting after a week to hear something, then you call again a week later. Ha... nice try! Keep trying because I'm not answering, I don't owe anything.

I received the same phone call.  But the funny thing is this phone call came from the same phone number I got about a month ago from a different company name claiming the same thing.  Saying they want to meet me to serve me papers.   How are they going to serve me papers when I'm near St. Louis and they are in Atlanta.  Such a scam.  I will not be calling them back.

I live in Denmark,SC and my account with Ace Cash got forwarded to Primary Solutions and a agent CJ Walker told me that I owed and it was not paid from 2009, I made a payment arrangement and decided to stop paying. About a month later they forwarded my file to and attorney in Bamberg,SC. Then I got a letter to pay the balance in full which was way more than Primary Solutions asked me to pay, or else they were going to garnish my wages and pursue me for check fraud. I decided to call their bluff and I got served papers soon after to appear in court. Just came from court today. What a headache and time consuming process, I didn't intentionally write a bad check I just didn't have the funds and other bills caught up with me. Now I'm really paying for it and could be faces charges. I wish I would of handled this before hand but now it's not even negotiable and out of my hands. I will give you guys an update soon if I can.

I thought they were a scammed too, until I did my own research and digging (which I suggest everyone else do also.). I came across their website aprimarygroup.com It turns out they are actually a Private Investigations Firm. I did even more research and found that they are indeed registered with the Secretary of State in Georgia. They handle several different types of cases so if you were contacted I strongly suggest you at least find out for yourself why to be on the safe side.
