Debt Collector
I received a call today from a so called Agent that I was involved in a criminal activity in the Riverside County. He said that I need to call ASAP to 866-267-9585 and gave me a case number to refer to. He called several times making threats to my house and cell phone saying that they will be serving me a issuance at my home or place of employment. The agent was very rude and was requesting me to give him my social security number at that point I hung up and the so called agent kept calling me on call after another and leaving me voice messages with the same information. Each call and message was escalating in anger.

I recieved two phone calls one from a mr johnson and a second froma ms hartley...both informed me that i was pending check depository fraud for a payday loan in texas in 2010. i informed them that i filed bankruptcy in 2012 and that it was discharged. they both informed me that since i gave them a post dated check i was going to be convicted of a felony and spend 1-3 years in jail. i hung up and contacted the bell county hot check/check fraud department and they informed that none of the 50 states will prosecute anyone who uses a post dated check on a payday loan and defaults on it. these people are a scam DO NOT let them scare you

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

WOW this was scary...This Anita woman called me and said I had a warrant out for my arrest and I needed to verify all this personal information.  When I laughed at her and told her I don't give my personal information out over the phone she screamed that she was sending an officer to my house and I would be arrested at the end of the day!!!  I called my sheriff office and found out it was a scam.  He told me to tell them "Bring your butt out and do it."  LOL please people don't give your personal information to anyone over the phone.  NO ONE who works in law enforcement will ask you for your personal information over the phone.  We need to put a stop to these two people.  I called them back and pretended to be someone else, they claim they are an investigative department that brings people down who owe money to payday loan places.  When I asked the name of the company she said Zena Financial Group....and she said "If I call you saying I am Anita Townes or Chris Baker, you have a serious problem and need to get it solved."  I laughed and hung up on her.
