I got a call from 678-805-0458, a machine, telling me my debit card was frozen.  I started punching in the card number and realized if they were calling me, on my cell phone, about my debit card, they should have that information, and they didn't say who they were and hung up.

My bank told me it was a scam.  I feel so foolish.

Said that they were from a bank that I do not have an account with.  Identified themselves as Umpqua Bank claiming that my atm card was deactivated. Funny, never had an account with them. They wanted my info to restart my card service.

Yea this me, I'm back! I got something to say. Because I don't feel like this should happen to me. I am good people. I go to work and dance for my money the legal way every night. I don't do nobody nothing. Then whats really messed up is they called my prepaid phone. They could've called the house phone. They wasted like 37 of my minutes. Now I gotta stand in the hot sun and wait for the bus at the bus stop so I can go to Evergreen Food Store and buy some more minutes. This just ain't right ya'll. We need to get together ain't do something about this..#thatiall...&&hearts!!

I live in Louisiana, and was woken up out of a deep sleep last night at midnight with a call from this number telling me that my Visa had been suspended due to fraud and asking me to punch in my account number.  Of course, I knew it was a scam, but it still bothers me that this "person" called me on my cell phone.  Where are they getting our personal numbers from and who is this person?  When I tried to call the number back, oddly, it said the number was not a working number.  How can that be when it called my telephone?  I will be reporting this to the Louisiana Attorney General's Office today.

Prank Call
All of these posts are from 2009 so this may be an indication that the scammers are starting this up again. Thanks to warnings about such a scam I knew to hang up immediately.

General Rule #1: DON'T EVER GIVE YOU CREDIT CARD # TO AN UNKNOWN PARTY NO MATTER HOW MUCH THEY ARE SCARING YOU!!!

You bank or credit card company will ask for you specifically by name and give you a verifiable phone number to call them back at.

This was a TMobile phone line they call.

I received a call this morning with an automated script saying they were from the Kane County Teachers Credit Union and that our VISA card had been placed on suspension.  The voice then directed me to press 1 for their security department.  I hung up and googled the phone number.  Looks like the scam continues.

This number belongs to altfunding.com and affiliate to funwebprofits.com, the only reason I know this is because I was on the phone cencelling the 2-bit scam service when we got disconnected. I actually got lucky and was spaeking to an American woman (no accent whatsoever), she was clear concise and was able to assist me in cancelling the service and helped me with getting a refund because after I let her know that her affiliate made it clear that there would be no debits to my account from either party after the cancellation, there was still a debit. Clearly a breach of contract. Yes, I also got debited 69.97 after the cancellation from funwebprofits.com, called them back to chew their a** out and demand a refund. I got both debits credited back to my account. The 678-805-0458 (and 800-994-4164) originates somewhere in Atlanta, GA here is the info on FunWebProfits (SCAM!!!!!!)

I just received a call from this number (I didn't answer) following a fraudulent internet transaction. I placed an order for $2.29 and it committed me to a list of repeating monthly charges. I immediately cancelled my card. The original ad was for a program that enables you to make money with Google Adwords. Be careful!!!

678-805-0458 has called me numerous times, and each time it says something different. It always asks for some kind of information that can lead to fraud or identity theft though. I absoulutely hate who ever is doing this. They call in the middle of the night and when im in school. Verizon and other phone companies should do something about this. It is getting to be about stupid.

just curious... how many of you are truck drivers who have applied on CAD?

That is the ONLY place they could have gotten mine and my husbands telephone number together. They called both phones within a few seconds of one another....and our numbers are very different.

I received a call from 6788050458 at 2:52 Sunday afternoon. The caller was automated, it explained that my debit card was thought to have been accessed fraudulently and to press 1 to be transferred to the fraud department of my bank. I of course hung up the phone, I do not have an active debit card because of things like this, and this same number with the same message called my brother 6 months ago while we were at work, it's pretty sad to know that these guys can use the same number that's right inside of the United States to try to steal our money, and thanks to Georgia's lack of ambition to stop these calls, people will continue to fall victim to them, if anyone of any importance in our government ever takes the time to read this when they receive the call, do something about it, shut them down and make sure you get their grubby little faces all over the 10:00 o'clock news. This makes me sick to think that the AG will just say to ignore it, as a country we need to band together to stop letting our truthful and upstanding citizens fall prey to these fools. That's my rant, as that is all I can do besides "ignore it" at this time. Thank you.

Subject: FW: General Complaint or Question Form

Unfortunately there is little that you can do other than to ignore any calls like this one.
