I received a call from number 678-905-8572 at work and they immediately told me there was a case against me and they could help me out. All I need to do is make a payment right away over the phone for $2600. I said I don't owe $2600 to anyone. They said it was for a loan I took out 6 years ago. I said nope. Never did. Then they said the origianl amount was $990. I said nope. Still too high. Never did. Then a supposed manager got on the phone and he said the loan was for $1300. I said that' the 3rd amount you gave me. He tried to rush me to make a payment. I said send me proof. Harold white (he said his name was. No doubt an alias) said they do not send proof because the proof is in front of them and that if I don't pay them right there on the spot then they were going to send my case to "the county" and they will come knocking at my door. I said still not me so go ahead. I hung up on him. They talk like scam artist.

Griggs & Asscoiates aka G&A as well as a few other names they have used so far calling me. Their first attempt they had me so worked up I agreed to paying this debt tht I knew was never mine to begin with nor that I still owed. But they threatened to take me to court, garnish my wages and place criminal charges against me. They never sent me anything via mail or email regarding a "debt" that I owe, that mind you was originally  identity theft. They called me numerous times but only at my work number. They also asked to speak to my lawyer and my supervisor on numerous occassions. Unlucky for them I work for a large large firm and spoke to several attorneys and as a collection agency they are completely unprofessional. They are not supposed to contact you threatening to take you to court, garnish your wages or pretend that they are a law firm. All of which they have done in my case. They called my supervisor directly trying to obtain information at the same time they were giving out my personal information regarding this "debt" from 4 years ago that they claim I owe. Another no-no, they can not contact a third party regarding your personal debt futhermore they are certainly not supposed to be giving out your personal information. After realizing how niave I was for giving them my bank information I immediately canceleed my bank cards so they could not obtain any payments. They were very upset when I did theis and continued to call my work. They have been told several times by myself and my supervisor not to contact tht number ever again. Well big surprise I am still recieving phone calls from them and every time they call they reference a different name as if I don't have caller ID. I know who is calling me and they pplay dumb and tell me that no one has never told them not to call. Finally I got sick of playing their games and file with my state attorneys general office. I also reported them to the BBB and the Consumer Reporting Agency. I am waiting to hear back from all in hopes never to heard from G&A, Griggs or anything else they would like to refer to themselves as!

Griggs and Associates are a debt collection agency that likes to buy junk debts, especially ones that have been paid.  I debt with them for over a month and only 2 people in that agency were actually helpful.  I was first contacted at work on 3-11-10 about "check fraud" charges.  When I phoned them the same day and found out it was for a debt that was paid, they did not listen to me, did not ask for proof and when I told them to email me "validation of debt", they emailed me a "conditional letter."  I had to call them and explain to them that a validation of debt is just what the name implies, validates the debt, and that a conditional letter, as the name implies does not mean validation of debt.  The matter was settled when I faxed them proof on 4-20-10.  I had reported them to my state attorney general's office.  They sent a response from the President of Griggs  (which was not dated-unbelievable that  the president of the company would not date correspondence to an attorney general's office.) to the the attorney general's office that it took 45 days plus for me to send proof. In actuality it took 2 day.  I have an email from them when they requested proof for the first time on 4-19-10. After they stated it better not be a stall tactic in the email.   Obviously their math is as shady as their documentation, their legal skills and their customer service.  The company does not know how to handle individuals that are informed so the best thing to do is document any contact with them and request everything in writing-get names, extensions etc.

In response to the call i received from 678-905-8572 they were very factual with me in the beginning although I was a little bit uneasy because I had been contacted at work and the matter was pertaining to a bad check that was almost two years old I quickly googled them and relized they were legitimate and was provided the chance to handle the situation they allowed me a payment plan that was pretty flexible and three weeks later I was able to obtain a payday loan once again the people were very nice and understanding but most of all helpful too me with resolving the situation as well so I would advise anyone to never judge a book by it's cover but read it first then come up with your own comprehension of the story unless you are blind I have no complaints in regards to Griggs and Associates!!

I agree with you whole heartily! I also got the impression from reading the statement this person might even work for the scammers or might own the company. I would also advise the person to find a attorney who went to law school instead of getting his or her diploma from a box of Cracker Jack. This attorney should have given you sound and honest advise, instead of going along with the scammers. Maybe the attorney was their attorney also. Glad I read his or her statement as I now will know how to handle a situation like this if it ever should come up in my life. May GOD bless Israel and may GOD bless all in America who still believe in HIM and still love HIM!

IN REPONSE TO ALL YOUR CLIAMS THAT WAS NOT THE CASE WITH ME. I RECIEVED DOCUMENTS OF A PENDING CRIMINAL SUIT SO I CALLED THEM. THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND HELP ME HANDLE THE SUIT BEFORE THE PAYDAY LOAN COMPANY PROSECUTED ME. I WAS GIVEN THE OPRROTUNITY TO PAY VOLUNTARILY OR INVOLUNTARILY BUT I KNEW I OWED. I READ THE BLOGS BEFORE I PAID BUT STILL WAS UNSURE. I HAD A KNOWN ATTORNEY IN THE CALIFORNIA AREA TO REVIEW THE LETTER AND THE PHONE CALLS AND I WAS ADVISED THAT THEIR CLAIMS WERE VALID AND I NEEDED TO PAY. I PAID MORE FOR THE ATTORNEY THAN I DID FOR THE "BAD DEBT" THAT INTURNED WAS KNOW CALLED A "BAD CHECK". I PAID THEM AND I GOT A RECEIPT AND A LETTER SENT TO MY HOUSE. IN RETURN I DEMANDED THAT THE PAYDAY LOAN REMOVE THEFT AND THE BAD CHECK FROM MY CREDIT. I KNEW THAT I OWED I JUST HAD TO JUSTIFY THE CLAIMS THAT WERE BEING MADE. MY ADVICE IS TO PAY IF YOU OWE BECAUSE THEY MEAN REAL BUISNESS. GRIGGS AND ASSOCIATES WAS A HELP TO ME AND IF ANYBODY ASK ME WOULD I DO IT AGAIN THE ANSWER WOULD BE YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are a collection agency, so I hate to break it to you but if you didn't have a debt they wouldn't be calling you. That being said don't believe any of the bs they say about bringing "criminal charges" against you. No law enforcement agency arrests people for owing money. They might sue you so watch out for that.

I've been called by these people 10 times a day, at home and at work.  They have a "case" against me and want to hear my side of the story.  Case about what???  They give no information. I refuse to talk to these people.  It tried to goggle the name "Flex Lease Inc", but nothing comes up.

I did call, left a message from them to mail to me whatever case they have against me.  If they try to take me to court, I'll take them to the cleaners.  If anyone knows anything about this phone number, please share.  Thanks.

I was completely foolish when they called I was in a very vulnerable position where I was using my Tax return to clear up old debts and I received a call from this company. I was completely taken aback because the loan was paid but I no longer had the same email address to show that nor the same bank. I went back and forth with her and she stated they were issuing a warrant for my arrest and would come up to my job!!!!! I was completely frightened I knew I made bad financial decisions to survive in college and take care of my kids and now I am trying to clear up my debts. I actually paid them $200 to call off this warrant only to find they have no legal precedent whatsoever. They said they served me at an address I havent lived at for years and I missed my court dates and if I did pay this I paid another collection agency who did not remove the debt. Please do not be stupid like me and pay these people. They used a phone number that was local to my area to get me to truly believe they would come after me with the police for a bad check written on a payday loan I paid in full many moons ago. My bank is currently investigating them and fighting to get my money back. Thankfully they will not get to charge my card any additional funds for this loan. I have been waiting 24 hours to receive my so called confirmation email regarding my payment and paperwork.  This place is an absolute scam they buy payday information from the sleazy payday loan people and try to scare the most vunerable population into giving up whatever they have. I wish I never needed to utilize a payday loan but my kids needed to eat more than my pride.  I have decided it would just be best to file for bankruptcy because you never know once it goes to collections if your paying the right people.

PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I MADE! STAY AWAY FROM PAYDAY LOANS AND KEEP SPINNING THIS COMPANY COMMITT TO NOTHING!!!!!!

I have been getting calls from G & A services trying to collect on a debt that I had already paid... I bing in the phone number 678-905-8572 and I now just learned that there name is Griggs & Associates.  I have been getting calls from a lady named Ivory who left a detailed message that I had committed fraud w/a check thru my bank and that they were working with my bank on trying to get this matter resolved.  I called the lady back b/c I have been clearing up some bad debt.  I had a settled debt letter which I faxed to them. (fax # 1-877-403-3977, bing or google that #, it's unidentified)  I called back later in the day on my lunch hour to make sure that she recieved my fax,  She told me that anyone could've wrote up that letter and she was sorry that I paid someone who didnt actually take care of my debt, which she was telling me this before I even faxed over the letter.. I was then told that she spoke to the investigator there and they were looking at doing a garnishment, the paper work was ready to be sent over to my employer and I had 48 hours. I asked her if she was saying that I was scammed, but she just kept saying they didnt take care of my debt.  I said, BUT I DID!  She kept trying to get me to make a payment and/or try and be my friend and do arrangements.  I asked for them to send me an e-mail regarding this debt... I was told that b/c it's so close to going to court that they didnt have anything they could send over to me but they would send me their website so I can see who they were.. I asked for an e-mail address from them, they gave me www.gaservices.com.  I was on my e-mail trying to put the e-mail address in as a contact and it came up invalid.. I called her on it and she gave me the same e-mail address.  I had enough at that point and didnt bother talking to this lady again.. I have been left a few messages just saying that they are sending over the paper work to garnish my wages.. Dont you have to be served papers to say that you are going to be garnished???   How do you get this to stop???

This company calls my cell and office 2-3 times a month. They leave messages that I need to contact them regarding a very serious matter and threaten to call my family and friends. The woman who calls is completely uneducated and has the phone skills of a 2 year old, "ummmm and yea" are a large part of the vocabulary in the messages. She has violated several FDCPA sections, giving personal information about me to other employees, telling them people are "coming to get me", that she is going to garnish my wages and that she is an attorney, which unless she is working on Sesame Street or for Willie Wonka, fat chance of that being the truth. On numerous occasions this woman has been told that phone calls of this nature are not permitted to the office and personal calls should be to the home or cell phone, but that hasn't stopped her. She also informed my HR department that she would be sending papers; that was about 3 weeks ago...where are these papers?? Empty threats from bottom feeder scum who get paid minimum wage to call and threaten people.

They keep calling me at work, leaving messages saying she is an investigator with "garbles the name of the company" saying i have been named as a defendant and I need to contact her ASAP. Really? I wasn't aware you can be sued over the phone. I thought you had to be served with actual COURT PAPERS!!! It's from a Payday Loan place that keeps selling the account, even though it has been paid off. I ignore the calls or I tell them I on vacation. The number comes up Griggs & Assoc. in Georgia. If I've been named,, surely they have my address, I have yet to see REAL papers about anything. Don't believe them. They just want money.

Under the TCPA, a consumer has a right to file a lawsuit and recover $500 for each call that violates the TCPA. The TCPA can also be used in conjunction with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in some situations.

Generally, the TCPA does not apply to debt collectors making collection calls to debtors. However, if you are subjected to calls from a debt collector and you are not the debtor, you may file a lawsuit against the debt collector under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the TCPA.

This right was recently recognized by Judge Legrome D. Davis in a case called Watson v. NCO Group, Inc.  NCO Group is a debt collector that uses automated prerecorded collection calls.  In this case, Mr. Watson alleged he was getting hundreds of calls from NCO Group after he got a new phone number. Mr. Watson claimed he owed no debt to NCO Group, Inc.  Mr. Watson filed suit under both the FDCPA and TCPA.

David Israel, defense lawyer for NCO, argued that the TCPA should not apply to debt collectors.  Judge Davis rejected the argument made by David Israel. The judge ruled that Mr. Watson had a right to sue NCO Group Inc under the TCPA for $500 for each call.  Judge Davis wrote;

[The] Court is convinced that a non-debtor's rights are in fact violated when he is subjected to repeated annoying and abusive debt collection calls that he remains powerless to stop.

Judge Davis' ruling was based upon his interpretation that collection calls to non-debtors violate the privacy rights provided by the TCPA.

So what can you do if you receive "wrong number" calls from debt collectors?

1. Sign up for the Do-Not-Call registry.
2. Save the calls captured by your voice mail or answering machine.
3. Contact a consumer lawyer.
