This woman, Peggy called regarding magazine subscriptions that I never ordered or at least don't recall ordering, and have never received. She wanted to record the call with me answering questions, but when I refused to give a second phone number for me, family or friends, she said she couldn't go further.

I asked for a customer service number in order to insure that there would be no charges or magazines coming. The office was closed today. Monday at 1:30.

I've had this number call me several times. I cancelled whatever subscription they signed me up for months ago..when i explained that to them- they are trying to tell me I can't cancel my account. I mean, who the hell are you to tell me to do with my money and account that CAN BE CANCELLED!!! this magazine scam is getting away with too much crap. I had to cancel my card and filed claims because i didn't authorized them to take money from my bank account. They can send all the magazines they want, i'm not paying for anything i don't want and had cancelled so long ago. I'm tired of them calling me, i've avoided half of their numbers and they have so many numbers. it's disturbing!!! I need to change my number asap. I'm tired of all this. I just can't understand this.... this is robbery at its highest.

I have had enough of this. I need information on how to get out of this NOW! I am making complaints to the FTC, BBB, NCL, and so on but I want out now. I am changing my card again and will demand a written cancellation letter or write one myself to them however many times I need to I do not need this crap in my life! I was a huge idiot for answering the call in the first place my only excuse was that i was extremely tired at the time and not thinking straight. I realize I have no one but myself to blame and will do what ever i can to fix this but I want a solution that I know will not be ignored by these jerks.

I got a call from them last week and today I saw a charge on my card for $5 from Magazine8002470036.
I said numerous times to them that I never subscribed to their service and that I wanted whatever account they had cancelled. They would not do it and kept rambling on about how a charge was already made in February, which in fact never happened and they said that they would not refund the transaction even if it was not my credit card. This is a total scam and I am going to call that 800 number today and find an end to this. This is ridiculous and needs to be SHUT DOWN and all the people who have been harassed need to be compensated for the wasted time incurred through this digusting scam.

Got a call about a month ago from one of their other numbers. I was told that all I had to do to get some free magazines is confirm my credit card information. I did not give them any information and just said no thanks. They charged me anyway. I kept calling the number back to no avail and finally found a site like this with the customer service number. They said they canceled it, and I also filed a fraud report with my bank and shut off the card. Well they just called again today from the 678 number to "see how I liked my magazines and verify my next payment." I told them that I had canceled, never got anything, and never agreed to pay a penny, and am going to call my bank and a lawyer. They finally said they would cancel it (again) after I yelled at them for a few minutes. I still don't have any idea how they got my credit card information.

All you have to do is report such incidents to the attorney general. It is best to 'cooperate' with the caller for as long as you can and gather as much information from them as discreetly as possible. This way you can provide the Attorney General's office with good information for their investigation. Another post below also mentioned calling the local news. Often times new programs have a segment in which they investigate fraudulant businesse or business practices. If you feel like this may not be a priority for you attorney general then try the news

Today march 7th I see a pending transaction of $ 5 on my CC named Magzine8002470036. I was been told the same crap as above like the girl transferred  me to her supervisor and she said you took some survey over the phone and signed up for this. I said I called the company in the trial period itself and asked for the cancellation. She said but publisher did not approve your cancellation so you are in a contract now and you need to pay $69 sumthing for 60 months but I can get it down to $49 sumthing for 30 months....that means around $1500 !! I was shocked as I was not getting any magzine, neither my CC been charged and nor I live on that address anymore and I took that survey one year back and I called the company and cancelled whatever the crap was there but out of blue all of a sudden I received a call asking me all this money!! I am shocked and worried too....its a harassment.. neither I was ever told that they did not cancel my subscription nor I received any magzine, any email or mail or call from there side. Its a scam and mental torture. Please suggest where to report this. I am planning to take some legal action and changing my cell no# and CC # hope it will help.

These idiots call every now and again talking about updating my info. I already knew not to tell them anything even tho they already know too much as is.  When I asked this guy whats the name of the company and what magazines are supposed to be getting mailed to me he hung up on me. Hopefully they dont call anymore but if they do I sure dont mind telling them off.

They did the same to me. I canceled whatever four months ago and i just got a call today from this number saying it WASNT canceled and he was being really rude as i was getting annoyed about why wasnt it canceled and why cant i cancel now?! He pretty much when over everything and had me agree to the monthly fees and was during the recording process and i accdiently ended the phone call and tried to call the number back and its dead. Do you think they'll still charge my account?? I checked my CC right after the call and all i saw was      MAGAZINE 8002470036 charge of $5.00 pending as of today.
I hope they won't charge me now that ive done some research on this number and seeing your note and others this must be a fraud!!!

My boyfriend fell for this one unfortunately. They called claiming they had been sending a "free trial subscription" to his old address (which he no longer lives at). Said since he didnt cancel in the "necessary time" that he was locked in contract and had to provide them with an updated card number. They even had his old card number (one that was no longer active). He argued with them on the phone for a long time and kept telling them he didnt remember signing up for anything. They claimed he owed some insane amount but then "so kindly" offered to take the cost down to 39.99 a month for him for like 3 years!?. I believe they asked him a few personal questions such as marital status etc. He told me he had to ask the lady several times to slow down .. that she was a "fast talker". He ended up feeling as if he had no choice because they told him they would take legal action if he didnt pay. So he gave his info. : / He cancelled his card first thing this morning. From the research I have done.. it seems like this company works under SEVERAL names. They told him they were CRS (Coastal Reader Services or something like that)

I fell for this 3 years ago  and they signed me up for a bogus magazine subscription where they were charging me almost $100 a month for 2 magazines. They I canceled 2 days later (I had 7 days to cancel). Didn't hear from them again for almost a year when they called and told me my account was delinquent and I owned them tons of money. When I told them I had canceled, they said they had no record of it. I could either pay for the entire subscription for like 2 years (I think somewhere around $780) or get a "buy out" and pay them $250. All the while they are telling me they have already contacted debt collectors and all this stuff about my credit. I was like 20 and had no idea what was going on. I ended up paying them the $250
They just called me again tonight... I guess this is 2-3 years after the whole incident. They called and said they needed to update my information for my magazine subscription. When I asked what subscription the girl listed off like 8 different magazines. I told her I didn't have any current magazines and she said, "Oh, your accThe only reason I'm not freaking out about this is because since then I have gotten married (changed my last name) and closed all the credit cards/debit cards associated with this when it initially happened. Hope this helps some how. ount shows that it is still active and you still have a couple months." I told her I wanted to cancel and she said she would have to transfer me to her supervisor. Not before I updated my address... (I'm an idiot). The address she had on file was the address of where I lived when everything happened to begin with, 3 years ago.
So, when she was transferring me I hung up. The number immediately called back and I didn't answer. My husband ended up calling the number back where the man who answered apologized and said he would remove us from the list and delete all our information.
