Same thing here! Had an ad on setx.com, he sent more money and asked me to cash it immediately. The check was from National Penn Bank, so I called the bank to verify it they said it was fraud which I already knew because I had also tried to call him but he would only text me from (857) 342-3131. He called today to ask why I hadn't cashed the check and I told him I knew it was fraud. He tried to argue back so all I said was "call me again and I'll turn your number in to the local police". He hasn't called back! SCAM!

I received a text from a caller that says they were a man in Port Neches, TX. but was currently working out of state.  (I will not tell because there really is a man that lives in that city by that name)  The caller said that the bank they used was SunTrust Bank and they couldn't pay by cashiers check or PayPal.  GIVE ME A BREAK MAN, WHO IN THE WORLD HAS A BANK AND DOESN'T HAVE A DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD, AND BESIDES ANYONE CAN PAY WITH PAYPAL!!!! I MEAN REALLY....... (Again, there is a bank in that city by that name) This person found my Ad on Southeasttexas.com and offered to give me $50 over asking price and also extra to cover the shipping cost which this person referred to as "THEIR MOVERS".  They asked me to pay the movers because the caller didn't have time to deal with'em.  The caller would never speak to me and never asked to meet with me or come by and look at the goods i was selling.  I told them that nobody buys something from somebody else without looking at what their buying.  They constantly insisted to communicate via text messaging when i insisted that i wanted to talk.  They told me that the only way they could communicate was by text and couldn't receive calls at the moment.  I explained to the caller that everything was suspicious and everything was out of place and that I decided to cancel the agreement.  The caller sent me another text telling me that "They were calling me NOW", I waited and still NO call.  They text me again saying, "Sorry for the miscommunication, I'm sending you Cashier's Check or Money Order".  At the end of this lengthly text, they told me they were hiring a moving company called, "Move It Less", which i found no business by that name.  Only "Move it 4 Less" and even that business didn't have great reviews, then the caller told me that they were working in Maryland.  I guess when I receive the check in the mail, i'll turn it in.  We'll see what happens next.  OK.....WHATEVER......I TOLD THE CALLER THAT I TURNED THE NUMBER INTO THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES.  I BET DATELINE WOULD EAT THIS STUFF UP!!!!!


By the way, I did a reverse phone lookup and that number is identified as a TELEMARKETER in Georgia....

I replied asking what his name was and he says James Bill...I told him that it all sounded like a big scam to me and the reply I got said that he is out of town or would come personally with cash in hand to buy my sewing machine....this is a SCAM!

This same # has contacted me via text, saying that they would like to purchase something I have posted on SETX.com and they would even give me extra $ to hold it for them.  They also stated that they would send the $ via USPS and would pay for shipping as well.  I have not responded to them because it sounded like a BIG scam to me.  I googled the # and found this, thank you!

same man called me, I did not answer so he text me to ask why I refused to answer his call? I told him he was a fraud and not to text me again becaues I had called the company the check was on.
he then told me I had no right to call the company and he would send someone by my place to pick up item tomorrow.
I told him he had better not do that, that i was giving nothing to anyone.

I called the company who said it was a fraud and not to cash check, because it was no good. the lady who answered told me not to give up what ever I was selling and not to send them the difference, that is what they would ask for. so when the man "richard Bill Jr" text me to see if I had made deposit yet, I told  him I would not deposit, it was a fraud. He came back with "what are you talking about?" did  you contact company and tell them who it was for? I answered yes and they had never heard that name. So obviously they have a sting team working out of those phone numbers???
on the over night mailing he sent to me he had address of: 58 S. Mulberry St. Batesville  IN 47006 under name of Richard Bill JNR

I got a text from this guy who said he would buy our industrial equipment from our company. He wanted to "pay" more than my asking price, to cover the cost of shiping, and for me to cash the check and give the difference to his shipping service a money order. Scam.

I simply told them I didn't accept check and to go find someone else to go scam.

This is one of the scammers that says they will pay you via check for your item and pay you x amount of dollars over your asking price for your inconvienence and then have one of their "movers" come and pick up the item.. This time it was via text message..
