Employment select is a TOTAL RIPP OFF.  Do not fall for their lies.  It is a Phishing scam.  They do not find jobs, only get you on a list that they sell to others.  Avoid Employment select. Posters on this board that support Employment Select actually work for Employment Select.  Do other Google searches on this organization and you will see what a bunch of bottom feeders that they are.

I apologize to anyone I may have spoken with while representing Employment Select.  I worked for them for a week and my initial skepticism turned to outright suspicion when I was fielding calls for them.  While I was "verifying information for" these supposed employers, I noticed on several occasions that the individuals had applied for these positions up to 10 months prior.

It's clear that Employment Select's only interest is hawking online schools (Phoenix Univ, etc) to people under teh pretense of helping them apply for positions that may or may not actually exist.

For what its worth, I wasnt very good at this position.  I quit once I found this very website and others suggesting fraud.

I would rather remain unemployed a while longer than work for a greasy outfit such as this.  It's called HONOR.  And I wish to retain mine.

So only companies that have been around for more than one year can be considered legitimate? Sure... Its not a scam, I got a job through them.

So...  what can we conclude with this mini-investigation?  Let's look at this objectively:  I was told they were located in Georgia, as is also indicated on their website.  Their website, or at least their administrative contact is located in Virginia.  Fine.  That's plausible.  But how legitimate can they be if their website was started less than a year ago?  I would say at this point, with all the information we've gathered collectively, this is not a "scam" in the traditional sense, but there probably are no jobs and they should be viewed upon as telemarketers.  If something sounds too good to be true, it most likely is.

Check this out:  http://www.employmentselect.com/index-5.cfm

I got this call last Thursday and spoke to a Heather, who said I would be getting a call to interview within the next 1-2 business days.  But I was immediately suspicious anyway so I did some research.  I THINK what's happening is that these guys try to hire people to call applicants they receive on craigslist/monster/careerbuilders etc... to either pitch products offered by their "affiliates/partners", and possibly to gather personal information for future use.  I'm not sure there are any legitimate jobs but I will do some more research on the website and get back to everyone.  This is really disheartening as I was hoping to interview for this position they offered...

I applied for a job on Craigs List.com and they e-mailed me, I filled out the app.  before they called from the same #, left no Voicemail on my phone when they called. I think it's a pre-screening company that they hire to check you out before they interview you, but I'm not sure. Guess I will wait to see if they call back

I received a call today, July 9, 2008 and got a recorded message to hold on the line for an available representative and then the line went dead.  I too filled out a few questions online and stopped after I was asked information about interest in higher education.  This is also after being asked which cell phone company I am using.  If they are a legitimate company, they are only looking for very gullible people.

You might want to check out this website that I found about Employment Select, http://www.consumerfraudreporting.org/jobscams_USACareers.php. According to them, it is clearly a scam. They've also started emailing me from "The Career Placement - Employment Select" and that's why I googled it and found this and the site I mentioned. Signing up at CareerBuilder was honestly the worst thing I've done online!

Ok, just got a call from 213-325-3204 with an automated message from "Jason Marks from Employment Select" and I went straight into a rant about having received several calls from "Employment Select" in one day.  The guy kept his cool, but was obviously perturbed - sounded like he's been scolded before for asking for personal information over the phone.  His name was "Duke Meyers" (also fishy) and he said he was not authorized or able to remove my information and that they represented such people as Lockheed Martin (which is all he mentioned...several times).  He gave me a number to call for customer service (678) 791-4060.  I haven't called it yet, kind of scared to...but he said he was in Virginia and the company is based out of Florida.  That's all I know, except that he has all my information that I would put on a resume and a job application.  I feel pretty gullible right now...and lost another 10 minutes off my whatever minutes.

I too applied for a couple positions with these folks.  It automatically seemed odd once I started reading the questions they were asking me. i.e. about my wanting additional education, my cell phone carrier information, etc.  I mean, come one, how many companies that you apply for a job with ask you those kind of unnecessary questions that mind you, DO NOT have anything to do with applying for a job. You cannot trust the internet anymore.  These people pay to get on these job sites (careerbuilder) (or anywhere for that matter) to look legitimate.  Seems to me that they are hired out to promote these companies by posting these teaser ads to reel you in - hence, the questions you are asked. That way they get "FREE" email addresses and phone numbers - sometimes even more personal information.  They are protected by the law in the sense that they are legitimately getting your information directly from you - the source, so you can't touch them.  My advise to all of you reading this, please do not apply to any job that does not tell you the name of the company that you will be working for, unless you research and find that they are a reputable employment agency, which will be "VERY" easy to find.  Although, most employment companies these days are not local to your area and they recruit nationally. Those companies too are easy to find as they will have a legitimate website with telephone numbers to call a recruiter directly for the position you are applying to.  On another note - every recruiter will divulge their client information once you have applied with them so they are to make sure to get their fee for referring you, from that employer.  One last comment.  Be very leary of any company you have not heard of before.  I personally never heard of Employment Select before applying to their posting - so shame on me for submitting my resume.  For future use, please go to www.sunbiz.org and check on the legitimacy of any company or officer of any company, via this website - it is the Division of Corporations for Florida.  I'm sure there are other sites you can find for your state for this same purpose.  If they are not listed on this website, they are probably NOT legitimate.
Good Luck with your searching and please don't get scammed into giving any personal information that may put you in danger of fraud or identity theft.

They called my VM for the second time...305 area code this time.

Wanted to verify my address, phone #.  Seeded within these questions was a request for a phone that receives text messages as well as a query if I was seeking additional education.  Questions about work experience seemed odd...as they only wanted the average amount of time spent on an employer.

This seems really, really fishy...

Hmmm... well I just applied for a few positions on employment select.  They sounded REALLY great.  Actually they sounded TOO great.  High pay!  I kind of was curious so I googled them and found these complaints.  It is odd if it is a scam.  But it sure is SUSPICIOUS that a company keeps changing its phone numbers from around the country when they are based only in Atlanta, GA.  Other phone numbers I have found... (404) 551-5563 is their number on the Better Business website and  678-791-4060 is their number on their website.

I looked at the BBB report and it said no complaints so that sounds good.  UNTIL I noticed that their BBB file JUST OPENED Mar 2008???  This company is so well-established and has numerous "reputable fortune 500 companies" that they "screen applicants" for yet they just opened?  Appears to me they had another name and changed it in March for some reason, which usually ends up being a bad reason.

Mind you their website is very professional and seems legit.  Now I am expecting mine and my hubby's cell to be blowing up with these calls.  But I am wondering if it is a scam, what is the scam?  Unless they do hope to actually get in contact with you and try to screen you for a job by asking you your social security number etc.

If those callers are legitimate screeners, then they would leave an intelligent message as well as information about the job.

I got a call this morning from this number as well. they left no message and I'm tempted just to call back and see what scam they try to pull on me. I plan to at least call private and not give them any information, and report them if they say they are hiring for a company.

Thanks everyone for posting, saved me from a scam!!!!!

I received a call as well.. what they did was stole information off my resume on careerbuilder.com. They said they had an opening for Target, and I read above that they said the same thing to other people as well. I called back the number to have them remove my name and number and I stayed on hold for about 5 minutes. A girl answered the phone "Employment Select" and I asked her kindly to remove my numbers from their list as they were calling my house AND cell. She put me on hold again and then I could hear a man in the background guiding her on what to type in the system. She asked me for the numbers to remove, I told her, she asked me if my name was correct, I said yes. Then the man's voice said, "type in applicant not interested". Supposedly she put that in the system, so we'll see if it works.
