You can do one of two things. Tell them there is an 8 week holding period for checks. (Believe it or not, even in the 21st century, it can take 8 weeks for a check to clear), or take the check to your bank, DO NOT deposit it, have them see if it's real. Usually the bank name & address are good, but the transit number is fake. I would REALLY suggest in future ads on Craigslist & Kijiji you put "Local - Cash - In person - NO Paypal".
