Yep, just got the exact same text and she was having surgery.... Wish people could stop her!

She said the exact same thing to me about it being for her daughter and she was having surgery and also demanded for my PayPal account.

Same as everyone above. Exact text was Hello, am interested in buying your (Apple MacBook 13.3").please get back to me with your firm price. thanks. This Monica hoe wants my paypal info and for me to send before payment. Yeah right!

Watch out for a Helen Smith as well, was using phone numbers 646 481 8143 and 801 784 2113. Using the same story about sending a give to her daughter and wants a note saying Happy Birthday from mom. Just remember anything that is sent to Nigeria is most likely a scam.  

I got the same story word for wotd but its a utah number now. I got 3 emails, but in my spam folder from onlinepayfunds not from paypal so i called and thats when i was told not to send my phone.

Message I got from this number, "Am buying this for my daughter as a birthday gift present.I believe it will make a wonderful birthday gift..(1/3)Right now am in the Hospital for my kidney surgery and will be back in 2weeks time.. All you will do for me is to write a short not (2/3)inside the package(HAPPY BIRTHDAY FROM MOM)..Please if you do have a PayPal account,provide it to me so that I will Make the payment (3/3)and i will add extra dollar for the shipping and handling"

Said I did not have PayPal and I was not going to set one up just for "Monica." I told this person that I was going to sell it to someone who was willing to meet face to face and cash only. have no heard from this scammer since! I'm glad I'm not stupid enough to fall for these scams!!

I also posted an ad on ksl.com and thought it was strange a ND # was texting me about my item. granted people who move to other states simply keep their numbers. but then "Monica" demanded I send my paypal info to her (which I do not even have) and she would send me extra money for shipping. Stated she was in Provo. Said she was in the hospital and would be out for 2 weeks, so there was no change of meeting face to face. Said she wanted it for her daughters birthday present.

I live in Salt Lake City and someone from that number texted me late last night regarding an item I have for sale through the local want ads.  I'm from North Dakota originally and recognized the area code as ND so I thought it was rather strange.  Googled the number and here I am.  Scammers everywhere nowadays...

This Monica Barry gave me the same story, wanted me to send my camera to Nigeria for her daughter's birthday while Monica was in the hospital with her kidneys. What made me catch on besides Nigeria, was that the email she sent said PayPal service from (onlinepayfund@live.com) instead of (service @ paypal.com).

Received text from them, it's a scammer.

Just yesterday morning at like 3:00am I got a text from this person. I am selling a small diamond ring. He said he was in the hospital for kidney surgery. He had an ND # so I didn't think anything of it. He said THE EXACT WORDS TO ME! about the happy birthday from mom. and adding the extra dollar. He wanted to use paypal too and I never use it really so I was like sure ok? I started feeling weird about the whole thing....Then this morning at 4:00a.m. I got a text of the NIGERIA ADDRESS. Then I knew this is a scam.  I am glad I found this site it assures me that I am kinda smart. He said look at your pay pal i sent the money, then all of a sudden this morning my paypal password doesn't work! So i reset my email and paypal passwords. There was no transactions in there.

This person text me wanting to buy a laptop that I had for sale. They made up a story that they would not be back in town for two weeks and wanted to pay through paypal.

I posted something on bisman and they texted me exactly what someone else on here said.. "Hello, am interested in buying your item..(listed item here).. Please get back to me. Thanks". They sent money through "paypal" and I got an email from "paypal" saying I need to send package and provide shipping before I get the funds in my account. I called paypal to confirm and they said they do not send emails like that, IT IS A SCAM. Seriously. Don't do it. I'm a real person in Bismarck ND and this is crap. Paypal said they will investigate. The number was an ND number so it seemed legitimate, but it's a trick to get you to send the package but the money will never appear in your account. I texted them saying simply "Don't contact me again." and they did not respond because they know what they are doing! Paypal email said their name was Monica Barry. Said it's for her kid in Nigeria for her birthday. BEWARE.

Same story they fed me.  Texted me at 3:30 am asking to buy my product.  Told me hospital story too and daughters birthday is coming want too surprise her with a gift.  Also asked if I have other electronics too sell them.  Said add a note saying happy birthday love mom.   Ship it to Nigeria because she was doing a charity retreat and would be there until after her birthday.  
    Texts my phone every 5-10 minutes too see if I have shipped it yet and won't stop them.  It took telling her I reported you and this scam to get her too stop contacting me.

The same exact thing happened to me--all of the same sob stories and daughter. This number can not be trusted!

YEP, same thing! Wanted to buy my camera, said she couldn't come for 2 weeks because of kidney surgery, and wanted me to write a note to go along with the camera. I wasn't buying it for a second with all the terrible grammar. Reporting this!

Wow, got the same crap about the daughter, shipping, birthday present, and kidney problems. I feel so stupid that I almost set up a paypal account. Glad I checked the phone number first. Incredible.

Got a text wanting to buy something I was selling.  It was a scam.  Do not sell to them

I got the same email wanting to purchase my laptop and wanting me to ship to Nigeria . 1-701-484-1829. Monica Barry.  Whats Next

Haha just got a text from that same number about an add I had on ksl classifieds, Poor Grammar, Sob story about Kidney surgery wanting me to write a letter saying happy birthday mom and send the package.  

Looked up the number to Double check the Scam, and thanks to this sight. the last Message I sent read.
