I gotten calls from this outfit or similar before.  I will block them with my Panasonic.

An automated call with a recording indicating how I could save money on my PEPCO (local power company) with some sort of $2000 rebate.  It maundered on about the reasons why and how for about 30 seconds then invited me to press one to learn more.

I did, press one and this led to another automated pitch reiterating the information about all the wonderful saving I would gain by switching from pepco.

It finally told me to leave my name and number and someone would get back to me.

I left a name and number from one of the complaints I looked up right here on 800notes

The robo-caller actually is a company called Mac Leads, which offers "sales generation" for home improvements etc.

Got my call from these scammers this morning.  I live in the Southeast and we have Duke Energy as our electric provider.

This call was a ROBO-CALL about a $500 energy credit.   The only problem is - Duke Energy said they had NO IDEA who this was, what "program" they were offering and had NOT authorized ANYONE to TELEMARKET on its behalf for ANYTHING.

Duke Energy's official stance on this caller is "It's a TOTAL SCAM" and to NOT GIVE THE CALLER ANY INFO!!!!

They DO NOT have the companies permission to use it's name in any marketing what so ever.


Further, the number displayed on your caller ID (701-712-0128) is a disconnected or no-longer in service number.  (Faked or Spoofed)

That's the BIG red flag of a scammer calling you!

Conserve Energy displayed on the caller ID with the number listed above.  I didn't pay attention to the recording they left but did do a call back and the number was disconnected. My guess is that had I talked to someone they would have hung up the minute I mentioned the do not call list.  Reporting these incidents to the FTC is a time consuming effort (I've done it) and you never hear back.  The form was many pages long. On a side note II wish they would stop POLITICIANS from being able to make RoboCalls! We are in for a lot until the elections are over with. It's to bad the "Call Type" below doesn't list "Plishing" which is really what these calls are about.

Got a call from this number today, and just like one person posted the recording claimed it was from Duke Energy offering an energy rebate of $500.

Left a message about reducing energy rates or something. Needless to say I didn't listen to the whole message. So tired of all these telemarketing scams calling everyday. Caller ID said Conserve Energy.

Sounds like it was supposed to be for some home credit. The message was cut off on my voice mail.

I answered it, and it was a recording that said that they were calling Consumer's Energy customer's to save on their energy bill and qualify for rebates of up to $2000 and press 1 for more info.

Same as all above reports, I do receive this scamming call.

Recording  stated $3,500 worth of rebates from Georgia Power. Press #1 for an energy audit of my house.  Do Not Call List does not prevent these calls.  I hung up when asked for personal information.

Stated local company. We do not have service from the company they said.

Called at 6:19pm 1/2/2012, Recording talked about qualifying for an energy rebate.  We're on DNC list.

Caller ID said "Conserve Energy" and recording started out "Attention Dominion Virginia customers" (that's our local utility). Recording talked about qualifying for an energy rebate of $1200, and "press 1 for more information."

I didn't, we're on the DNC list, and I will be reporting this.

Left a recorded message on my home phone about energy savings - part was cut off so I don't know who they claimed to be.  My phone # has been on the Do Not Call registry since 2007, so I will be reporting them.

I took the bait and gave the auto-dialer my name and number. Sure enough the next morning I got a call from a local company wanting to sell me foam insulation for my house. I explained that this was a violation of the do not call list and asked the salesman for contact information for the robo-caller.

The robo-caller listed this phone number on the caller ID and it would appear to be a company called "Conserve Energy" in Bismarck, N.D. It is not. It tried to make me think it was a call from "Dominion Power," my electricity provider in Northern Va. It is not connected in any way to the utility company.

I will be giving them a non-robo-call, an email, and a certified letter setting out violation of the do-not-call registry.

You may be interested in reading a news release this office issued in May 2010, warning about scam telephone calls using spoofed North Dakota (701 area code) telephone numbers, at http://www.ag.nd.gov/NewsReleases/2010/05-25-10A.pdf. Since then, we have received reports from across the country of other scams using spoofed ND phone numbers.

Call came from Bismark, North Dakota to Kansas at 13:48 hours CDT on 4-30-11. Call not answered and no message left. -CID- said "Unavailable". Other sites report that this a scam, claiming to be a service company connected with your local unility. They ask for your name and social security, so that you will be able to receive "carbon credits". Duh.

This is mostly likely a scam.  The call comes from North Dakota.  They mention the name of my local gas company.  Funny thing is, my place is all-electric.  My entire apt. complex do not have gas.  I bet they call all 50 states and mention the name of your local gas company just to mislead you.

Just received a call from this number - they were claiming to be associated with our local utility company - Duke Energy and they claimed to be offering a service that dealt with Government Energy Credits for upgrading various appliances within and around your home.

Problem is that our utility company had NO knowledge of this company, they don't hire outside firms to market or advertise any services that they offer - they do all of this in-house.

They stated that this company is operating WITHOUT their permission and authority to use their name and identity in this marketing and that this is most likely a SCAM.

IF you receive a call from this company posing to work with either Duke Energy or Energy United - please CALL either of these companies and let them know so that they can trace down these scam artists and prosecute them.

On MY call I received, this company wanted me to enter my home phone and social security number into their automated system to be eligible for these "energy credits".

Duke Energy stated that they will NEVER (NO EXCEPTION) ask for your social security number by phone - unless YOU CALLED THEIR BUSINESS OFFICE with regard to OPENING A NEW ACCOUNT.

Also - if you are on the Do Not Call List and you receive one of these calls - be sure to report it.  All calls that these telemarketers make using a recorded message are ILLEGAL as of this February.  See the ftc.gov website for details on the new rules.

A callback on this number came back as 'all circuits are busy' once and disconnected the second time.  This is most likely a FAKED or SPOOFED number that these scam artists are using - most ALL calls coming from the 701 area code are fake or spoofs.
