THIS IS A SCAM. Google "ftc.gov mystery shopper scam" and read all about it. If you fall for it, there are endless ways you can be screwed. One of the worst is they ask you to test Western Union wire services by sending you a check, you cash it at your bank and wire the money to them. The check is fake but it will take days for your bank to find out and in the meantime, *your* cash that you wire them will be in their hands (wires takes short hours to complete). Your account will be in the red when the check bounces and you may be prosecuted for passing a bad check. There are legit sites that you can sign up on to become a legit mystery shopper but *NONE* of them pays $50/hour! THIS IS A SCAM.

i got a text and called the number they told me to call. a black woman answered and tried to get me to pay $2.95 for a 100 dollar shopping card to help stimulate the economy (her economy I'm sure). I asked for the name of their business and she gave me a name and then seemed to retreat slightly after answering the question. I looked them up by the name she gave me and there seemed to be no website at the top of google's list as expected for an actual business. So I called the number back and a different woman answered. Actually this woman messed up very strangly in her speech when she answered. I asked her for the website address of their company and the woman didn't even know it! She kind of stumbled over the fact that she couldn't answer, perhaps a sign that the website doesn't exist. She gave me a number to call and get the website, and so I called. A woman answered and immediately asked for the last four of my credit card. I asked her for the last four of her social security in answer to her question, and then I don't remember what was said after that.
  In conclusion I would say use extreme caution when dealing with these types of people. They see you as prey, and they treat you as prey, which means they are using a predatory instinctual mind set. As a professional martial scientist, I will offer the advice to always attack the attacker harder than he or she is attacking you, and so long as you always keep the lowest tone of voice possible when speaking, you will always be respected even by the most devious salesmen and women.


UPDATE: I called the number back to get the caller's company name at almost 6pm central time. No one said anything, but I could hear a television in the background. I listened and waited for about 10 seconds, then started talking like a crazy person looking to make a business deal. Finally, after talking for about 40 seconds I heard a noise like the person listening handed the phone to someone else, then a man said, "hi, sorry, my headset was messed up." I asked some information about their website and they fumbled for a moment, then told me my_cashrewards.com. This site does not exist. The man on the phone said, "my dash cash rewards dot com. I said, "dash?" He said, "No, you can't put a dash in a web address. I said, "of course." We then hung up. I checked my-cashrewards.com and that site really exists. Someone else might want to finish the investigation for me, I'm a business man and I've got to get back to my job!
