Calls my house leaves a message 'been trying to reach you' they don't don't ask for any person..'in regards to some paperwork that needs your attention' I have called, they are actually looking for my daughter in regards to an old debt of 5 years ago. She wasn't living at home then...they want her to pay an old debt via check/checking account/debit card, money orders are NOT accepted. They don't give the company name and there are many phone numbers and people that call regarding the same thing. This is a scam and I want them to stop calling my house.

The infamous "Lower your interest rate" scam. People actually fall for this? Haha. Whenever they call me I horribly abuse them until they hang up. I actually look forward to their calls so I can have some fun telling the guy what me and his MOM did last night, what I think of his ethnicity, etc. I feel that I'm doing my part making their job so unpleasant that they quit. You guys obviously aren't doing your part because they're still able to find people willing to work there. Start pulling your weight and make their job unbearable! LOL

The Caller Id showed ?CAP SVCS 1-702-520-2345? and an automatic message mentioned something about the final call from the credit card company to lower the interest rate, for what I had to dial the * key which I did because I was not so clear on what this call was about. A woman with a very strong accent started to tell me about the Bank calling to lower the interest rate on the credit cards with over $5,000 accumulated debt.
For some reason, they have much of my information with which they made me believe this was an authentic call from the bank. She told me that in order to verify that she was talking to the credit card holder, she needed to verify my information first. Astutely, she gave me the first digits of the credit card and the balance in it. To give me confidence, she said they would never ask for the three digit security code nor my full social security number, but just the last four digits.
I asked for their phone number, but she insisted on getting my information. Finally she transferred me to her alleged supervisor who gave no phone number either, but told me I could call the Customer Service Phone Number in the back of the credit card. Finally I gave him the full Credit Card Number and the last 4 of my SS. Then, since the balance in this card was not over $5,000, he asked me for another card. Again, he gave me the balance and the first digits of the card so I read the whole card number.
After ending the call, I called the number in the caller Id back, but an Opt Out message was the only answer I got.
Worried about this call, I called the Credit Card Customer Service and they told me not to have a clue of who this people is and recommend me to cancel all accounts that were on risk.
I was stupidly fooled. And I learned the basic rule? If I do not start the phone call, I MUST NEVER EVER release any of my personal information.

It's a SCAM! Don't answer. Don't give them your credit card info. They use an auto-dialer to call. The number can't even be blocked.

Just got off the phone with "Judy Hernandez" from CAP SVCS supposedly in Orlando FL. I requested the phone # from which she was calling: 1-888-311-0279, Ext 226. However, my caller I.D. indicated the call was made from 702-520-2345. Judy explained that she needed verification of my credit card # in order to lower my interest rate. I was very hesitant to give out my CC # without some way of verifying the actual company who was calling. Judy went into an all out pitch about how secure their company was and that she was only trying to help me. She kept repeating that she wouldn't ask me for my Security Code, therefore it was safe for me to give her my CC number. My gut told me NO! I told Judy I was not comfortable giving out this information and she abruptly hung up.
Feeling so relieved that I listened to my intuition and did not give Judy any information.

The company (Card Services) called offering a credit card interest rate reduction. They had my card number and other personal information including how much was owed and payment history. I was suspicious so I called my credit card company to confirm that the offer to reduce my interest rate was legitimate. It wasn't. Card Services called back and during a very unpleasant conversation I found out that they are not affiliated with my bank and that they were going to charge $740.00 my card as payment for the rate reduction. The ?supervisor? that I spoke to was very rude. I told him to take me off their list and that I was calling my credit card?s fraud department at which point I closed my account.

Why does it seam like someone calls and then hangs up...
This is why: marketing will have a computer generate four or more calls for one sales rep at a time and when the first number to answer the phone, the computer connects the call to the sales rep and hangs up on the others. The computer keeps tract of the connects and hang ups, putting the hang ups back in the dialing queue. This way the sales rep will almost always get a person on the phone and have the personal information on the rep's monitor so they can react as if they choose you personally.
Pretty sneaky!

Do Not Call List is a big joke. We renew our phone numbers on the Do Not Call list every month bc of calls like this. Doesn't do any good whatsoever.
I just do not answer any calls that: I don't recognize the number; Caller ID blocked (yeah, right - like I'd be stupid enough to answer one of those); Private Number (there they go again); and 800 or 888 or whatever Toll-Free number.
If if's important, the caller will leave a voicemail. If you listen to the voicemail, and it's crap, then don't return the call. Report it to the FCC.
After you report it to the FCC, make a note of the caller's info and date and time of the call, and the fact that you reported it to the FCC and the date that you reported it to the FCC. Then if the idiots call you again, make a note of the date and time and report them again. If you want to talk to them - which you should do only AFTER you have reported them to the FCC - tell them you have reported them to the FCC, and to immediately place you on their DO NOT CALL list; then if they call again, you can report them to the FCC again and each time, there will be a fine that they have to pay to you for hassling you after you have told them to officially stop.

Received RoboCall (cell phone) - same as described in previous post - elected to press 1 - the male voice said hello (accent) informed him I was on the "DO NOT CALL" list and to remove me then hung up!
Luckily for me I have a system that rejects calls like this.
