I just got a LETTER from "Robert H Burns". Same 10% thing. No idea who he is. How do I find my money on my own? I don't want to give him a dime.

Just got a call from someone claiming to be "Robert H. Burns" who said that I had unclaimed money and that if I agreed over the phone to pay him 10% of my unclaimed money, he would tell me how I could claim my money.

Well, I agreed that he could have 10% if I got the money, but I wasn't going to give him any of my information.  He already had my phone number.  Anyways, I looked online and saw that I could get this money for free.

My question is does this guy just expect that i'm going to hand over 10% of my unclaimed money just because he found my name on a database and decided to give me a call?  Either he is working up to one day doing a real scam or he really believes that he'll find enough people who don't realize that you can claim the money for free.

They called me back in March as a automated dialer with no way to opt out. I want people to know that I reported these people to the Office of the Attorney General in Ky. and they really took action against these people. I received a letter from ARS or GMC through the Ky. Attny Gen office and they apologized and went on to say that due to matters beyond their control all business has been stopped at this time, and they are no longer in business. I think they got caught, but that doesn't mean they won't pop up again under a different name and phone number....

I am SO glad that Google, and a certain amount of sckepticism exists!  I believe Robert Heinlein coined the acronym TANSTAAFL, aka There Aint No Such Thing As A Free Lunch.
Bless ya'll for shared experiences.. like many here I am curious;  How do we report this?  Better yet,  anyone seen a hint of a web presence for these doofs?  (I have hackity-type friends...)

I just got the same call at work. How do you report the calls to FCC or any other legal department that needs to know of this?

Got this call myself yesterday, despite signing up for the Do Not Call rigistry years ago. Somehow these scammers haven't heard of that list, and run the risk of having a potential $1500 judgment levied against them for violating the no-call concept. What part of "Do Not Call" don't they get? Well, it's obvious a computer is making "blanket calls" across the US hoping to fish in enough suckers to pay for their Vegas gambling habit. Sorry, boys,I ain't biting, because you just called...

Just received a call from Asset Recovery Center. Glad I checked for a scam.

A Scam to get you to give money & your private info to people that would use it in a fraudulent manner.

I will ignore this too - Same type of call from the Asset Recovery Center as others have received.

I just got a call on my answering machine saying to call this number to find out about unclaimed funds. It claims to be the Asset Recovery Center...I'm glad I checked this out online before taking the bait.

I just got a call from these guys too here at work. This is a scam and the sad thing is they will still profit from this technique. They want you to send in $35.00 so they can check if you have any unclaimed money. You can get this information for free. They also say you need to send in the money and then they will send you a form to fill out. I can just guess what they will do with that information. I'm reporting this call to the Atty Gen's office and the FCC... just anyone that will listen to hopefully catch these frauds.
I also left that message on their answering service.

After reading these posts, I decided not to bother calling back.  Same as described:  a computer tells me to call this number because I am eligible for some unclaimed funds.

Did not respond to them.

This is some computer who calls and claims that i can get unclaimed money if i call them back at this specified number.

Just got the call a couple hours ago, and figured I'd check the "number" on the net.  I, too, will not return the call.  Thanks
