Good luck with your career. However, be careful. You don't "deserve" anything. That way of thinking will not get you far.

Thank you so much for posting I was about to go to an interview which was an hour away. He told me it was for a finance position. Thank you for saving me the drive. I also agree mason should not be giving our number to companies like this.

Went in for interview.  Part-time financial planning position.  It works just like real estate, except with financial products and services.  Great reviewed company as well.  http://life-insurance.findthebest.com/ I am studying IT right now at mason and considering learning it part time.  It could only be useful to learn about rules of money and making money while learning a different field.

Shady dude! This Matt character called me several times. I couldn't meet him at the time he suggested, which made him upset kind of. He got aggressive and asked why I couldn't make it. Then recommended I meet him on a Saturday. When I started to seem suspicious he got off the phone very quickly.  So glad I looked him up! Thanks for the post

Two days ago, I got a call from somebody (didn't catch the name) telling me he got my contact on Mason Hire and asking me if I want to work in finance services. I was hesitant since I study IT, I don't want to work in finance. He told me he would offer me twice as much money as I earn now. He didn't even know how much I earn. Sounded like a scam. I refused his offer.

Mason obviously has a greater understanding of the company than you do (Mason does put companies through a fair amount of scrutiny before letting them recruit), and they wouldn't permit them to recruit there if it wasn't a good career opportunity.

I got a called from him this morning and I came to Google him because he didn't say from what company he was calling from. Thank you guys for writing about him and his company. Definitely, he is not gonna get a call back from me. Also, I am disappointed that Mason is adverting their jobs through hiremason.

They were at a career fair at George Mason not too long ago.  Mason probably wouldn't have given them a booth if they were doing something wrong.  Don't know if financial services is for me though.

I got a call from him too.  I set up an interview, but will probably cancel now after finding all this stuff on Primerica's scam!  I also called their headquarters and asked if the address he gave me was correct. The original address she gave me was not the one Matt gave me.  Then once I told her that address she said "oh yes that is in the system too." Also couldn't find a legitimate site where the address was matched with the company name.

I believe it is. I interviewed there last summer and it didn't really seem right. I did an internship with aflac right before so I knew it would be a lot of cold calling to start probably so I never followed up on them. Aflac as well is not a great company to work for unless you have a pretty good warm contact list of business owners.

My school, where that guy is from, advised me not to pursue the position because they make you pay upfront costs for getting licensed and stuff and do not guarantee a salary or pay. It's pretty much if you are good you'll get someone and get money you know, hit or miss kind of. lol They do not even let them recruit there. They draw you in just like Aflac did probably like any kind of sales company. Its not impossible but most people would like a steady job, not a commission based job. Sales people make money because they have the time and motivation to keep going and putting in the full effort to get clients. As a full time student I do not and frankly I suck a sales pitches and phone calls.

I'm an accounting major at George Mason University, pursuing a second degree in ISOM, and I deserve a much better career or career starter for that matter than Primerica. lol Good luck Matt Peterson.

Got a message from a Matt Peterson at this number about how he got my contact information from a friend and wants to talk about a position at some company.  He didn't say which company, but after some research it looks like the Matt in question is http://www.facebook.com/people/Matt-Peterson/1406871682 and works for Primerica.  Scam?  I don't know for sure, but it's highly suspicious if it IS legit so I'm not calling back.
