i didn't answer because i thought it was just a solicitation and then they left a creepy message the said Don't be surprised  which made no sense at all   but still worried me for some reason.

got a call at 11 :52 a.m. man said he was from police benevolent league, trying to get money for48 yr old policeman who was shot. told him to mail me  in writing about it . he said no! I said sounds like a scam to me. and he said lady your the scammer!

I just received one of these calls.  We get a lot of hang up calls.  But (maybe because I just received a scam job offer) something made me try to look up this number.  I believe the idea of calls being made just to determine when someone is home is correct.  

We decided not to sign up for the Do Not Call Registry - for several reasons.  A phone with an answering system and caller ID works wonders.  The only concern I have is this:  are they really just trying to verify the phone number is valid so it can be used for more sinister purposes?

They called today at 5:13pm west coast.  A man picked up about 5 seconds after I answered and ask is this was Dave ****.  I asked "whis is calling?", he againn asked if this was Dave ****, I again asked "who is calling?", he then replied "oh you must not understand english" and hung up.  When I tried calling back I received the same message as above.  I want to know this company and a phone number that is answered so I can give them a piece of my mind.

Called at 945AM today.  I picked up because I had a million users calling me reporting stuff down, and there was silence, then I heard a muffled man's voice.  It sounded like someone had the phone cradled on their neck, the words "this business", then they hung up.

I called back and got the same message as Lorianne about it not being operational.

What a bunch of bullcrap. I'm busy, and this loser company calls me and hangs up?  I'd love to punch those b*****ds in the throat.  Yes, I've had too much caffeine this AM.  ;-)

They called today and when I picked up all it was quiet for a second and then some dude just started laughing hysterically and hung up.  Very odd. I *69ed it and 703-857-3939 came back as the recorded message.  Kind of funny this time.

They call and hang up when they get my phone recorder's recorded message. When I pick up and say "Hello", they also hang up.  I remember reading somewhere online that this can be an automated preliminary call.  One of maybe 12 or 20 hangup calls.  The company is paying a "service" to learn WHEN you are most likely to be home.  

In other words, what days of the week and what times of the day are you most likely to pick up the phone.  They may use various phone numbers to accomplish this report on your phone number.  When they get a track record, they apparently sell this info to the highest bidders.  

Armed with that information various solicitors (whoever bought your report)then give the phone number to their hired "live" telemarketers to spend the effort to call you at those proven most likely times.  

If anyone is "out there" reading this, anyone who is a solicitor trying to sell me something.  I want you to know it'll be a cold day you know where, before I EVER by ANYTHING sight unseen, from a phone solicitor who cold calls me.  All phone calls from telemarketers are suspiciously viewed as possible phishers or would-be crooks just trying to steal my identity.

And by-the-way, after we PAID to sign up with the so-called "DO NOT CALL REGISTRY" we began to get a huge, huge increase in the numbers of such stupid hangup calls and telemarketing attempts.  Makes me understand why people get so angry at such calls.  It is annoying.  

I've probably told hundreds of telemarketers to please remove our phone number from their lists.  Maybe they do just that, but I suspect they "sell" the phone number to hundreds of other companies looking for live phone numbers.  It's almost as annoying as spam and junk mail.  But at least you can delete spam and you can tear up junk mail into little tiny pieces---or mail it all back to them (with our address removed) if it has a postage free return envelope.  If I want to buy something I'll go to the store and look at it and buy it.  Or I will look online for it.  I will not buy sight unseen items from telemarketers. Too bad there's not a way currently to "zap" such unwanted hangup callers.  Too bad there's not a way to have a way to block them permanently.

I had received calls from this number and when you answer no one is there.

I have this number calling me several times a day for 6 days in a week, when I answer there is no one there.
This goes on week after week and I have no idea who it is or what they want.

I have had this number call me a couple of times. I said hello no one on other end. I called back and it said that sorry that this number is not currently operational (in a mans voice). Solictor/Telemarketer ?? They should not be able to call my number

This is a florist shop, when you call this number it says the no is unavailable on a recorded message, doesn't sound like the phone company message just someone wasting everyone's time
