Asked if they could send me twenty brochures for me to get donations from friends & family then return to them. When I mentioned they had called before and I asked for their tax ID they hung up. Filed a second Federal DO NOT CALL complaint.

We are getting calls from ADA every day. CID will say "ADA" with a # that is not listed and several other #'s which list a city and state and phone#...the latest is Haymarket, VA 571-261-0106. They never leave a message. Last night I called this # back, got a recorded message saying if I didn't want to receive calls "press 1" (probably leads to more problems if I did this).
Today I called ADA's 800 # on their website and was told that they "sometimes use outside companies to market for them" and if I want my # removed I have to give them my full name, address and phone#, which I refused.
Obviously they don't need our donations as they have the resources to hire these under-handed companies to do the dirty work for them. Let them call, I will not answer my phone.

Yep -- I get these calls also. Just a note politicians and non-profits are not bound by the Do Not Call list (also think local Police, Firefighters, Church, etc). That swhy you get the calls (I am on the DO Not Call list). Best thing to do is pick up the phone and talk with them and tell them that you want to be taken off there internal list. It work for me

been getting calls from 704-456-1308 and no one says anything on the other line. received calls simular to this before and they were scams. My number is on the do not call listing, but that doesn't stop them. I get a call at least once or twice daily.

They call over and over and over. And the number they call is a fax number and still they call. I am glad to know who they "represent" finally, thanks to this site.

Been receiving calls from 1-317-202-1715 (have seen it on caller ID - they never leave a message and so far I have not been home to answer) - ID says Am Diabetes FTI. Since I work for ADA, I am also reporting to them to be sure they are aware of it. This is NOT our normal procedure and how we conduct business. We are a professional organization and handle all calls appropriately.

I received a call at my residence at 8:40 PM from a male caller who asked to speak to my wife. I asked who was calling and he said the American Diabetes Association. I told him we were on the do not call list, and he corrected me by saying that they were exempt from the DCL because they were an "Non profit". I asked him where he was located, and he said he was in Corpus Cristi, Texas. I told him that it was almost 9 PM on the west coast, and I did not want to be bothered again. As soon as I hung up, I hit *69, and called the number. I got customer service. I told her what had happened, and I told her that since she was a telemarketer, that they were bound by the DCL. I also questioned her firmly about why the caller said he was in Texas. She told me that she was not at liberty to discuss that. I asked her if she would be able to discuss it with the Better Business Bureau or the local media. Once I mentioned Cabarrus County NC, she was reluctant to talk to me further. Once she realized that I knew where she was, she asked for my telephone number. I did not give it to her because I felt like they would keep calling if I did .

AM Diabetes FTI: wanted to mail me 20 brochures to send out to my friends/family and collect donations and return them to this supposed company.
Then he asked if he could count on my support. I asked for his non-profit tax ID#...(silence) He said he didn't know.
I hung up.
