I got a call from this answer...no message, and I got this number showing on my Cell phone. not happy because no too many people have my cell number.
kitkat 2011-06-06 20:55:02 Unknown
this is weird cause when i got a call on my cell it was someone saying that I'd won something...obviously some type of scam so i hung up after he kept trying to ask questions...but it worries me that so many different types of phone calls appear to be originating from this number

Skype girl...
Dont be so rude, and its not a skype number, cause skype does not have 'calling numbers' like that in canada. They are not setup with CRTC / Bell / Rogers to provide local service inside Canada.
IE: If you want to call Barrie from Barrie, using Skype, and have a call back number, the best you can do is get a New York State number. As of April 2011, as far as I know, this still doesnt exist.
When I got the call today from 705-725-8710 all I got was dead air, an automated voice saying 'goodbye' followed by a beep, and a disconnect.
leads me to believe its a wrongly configured (rebooted?) IVR for a long distance carrier (like those calling cards) that choose to setup its numbers to be seen.

Just had 3 phone calls from 725 8710. It's a local barrie number. cuz i'm in collingwood and i'm in a 705 prefix area as well and it doesn't have an incoming long distance ring. So I'm going to call the Barrie OPP and get to the bottom of this.

Rex is right. Overseas call forwarding to a local number.

Some woman called my cell from this number randomly saying "ohh.. his, WHO IS THIS?" (calling ME) and then claiming she got my cell number by pressing REDIAL on HER phone... sounds like a mother trying to track who her kid calls? wtf though,
SkybeGirl, you said it's a Skype number so what does that mean.. I know what Skype is, but not much about it. Do they have registered numbers like this?
Why is this one phone number pissing so many people off?!

Not Happy, Calling cell phones and business #. Talking to us like we are best friends "Hey good looking how are you?" I wish the telemarketers would leave us alone. They are sneeky, and I have had enough........Someone needs to address this problem.......
kitkat 2011-04-15 13:02:21 Unknown
got a call on the cell and it was someone saying that we won something...either $1000 in furniture or something else...i said "ya right...how much is this gonna cost me?" reply "there is no catch or gimmick here"...me "no thanks not interested" and the guy keeps talking and trying to ask questions so i hung up and even when you ask to be taken off the calling list they keep calling back

I got a call from this number 705-725-8710 April 7, 2011.
By the time I picked up, 2 rights? It said 'goodbye' and then beeped, followed with a disconnect.
Sounds like a broken IVR of a telemarketer.. but a previous poster is right, numbers can easily be spoofed if you have the 'right' connections.
Bell Canada being the keyholders, generally requires a 'reverse dns' type situation for phone numbers to show up on your phone from 'small providers'
IE, I cant run a IVR/Telemarketing system, call you and have it show as your own number, without having a contract with Bell. (This is my understanding of it, tho a couple years old)
P.E. 2011-01-03 16:44:16 Unknown
I just received same call. No one there, called back and same telephone company control issue. I'm with Rogers home phone, so its not just a Bell thing.
I blocked the number, we'll see if it happens again.

Anne 2009-04-22 11:44:28 Fax Machine
I received a phone call from this number last night at 12:30 AM and when I answered it sounds like a fax trying to go through. I hung up and the number called two more times with the same fax machine. The final call was at 1:06 AM. I tried to recall the number and got a fast busy signal. I finally had to take my phone off the hook before they woke the entire house. I tried the number again this morning and the recording I get is, "We're sorry, due to telephone control facility trouble your call can not be completed at this time. Will you try your call again later?"
Don't Call Me 2008-09-30 22:07:42 Unknown
The person(s) responsible for calling you people from '(705) 725-8710' is actually spoofing their Caller Identification (CID) so that '(705) 725-8710' shows up on your call display. The call is more than likely being placed via a voice over Internet protocol (VOIP) phone system such as Skype or other VOIP system. It is very easy to spoof or forge one's CID and make calls this way. The caller will usually pick the telephone number of a public telephone. That way when you try and call back, you get a recorded message. This is also why you can't block the caller, because he/she isn't actually calling from that number.
