That's your clue right there - there is no "Manhattan County, NY." Manhattan is New York County, NY. There is indeed a New York City Sheriff, but there isn't one specifically for Manhattan.

It should be obvious that this is a scam, but for anyone outside of NYC reading this, there you go.

I got the same scam...Give them your local FBI office phone number as the call back number..tell them you can't talk from work...they will not call you again I assure you! hahah..jerks!

Same thing..called me said I had an arrest warrant due to unpaid loan. Said they were Manhattan Sherriff office and were transferring case to my city Sherriff.  I knew something was up as Sherriff's are county not city. I spoke to one male with accent who answered phone.  Was transferred to another male with also an accent who said he was the supervisor and read me some affidavit for my arrest.  When I asked for the date of the loan he only said in the last 12 months.  Told me to call 407-504-4880 to settle loan for $787. and said "be sure to call right away" at this point I knew something hinky was going on.  They are really good though..scared me at first..they must get a lot of money from people. Called the 407 number and it was another foreign accent so I hung up.  He called me back and I said I couldn't talk from that number and to call me back. The number I gave him as the local FBI office phone number..haven't heard back..haha. SCAM don't believe this...it's a hoax!!!

Received numerous calls from this so called Jeff Miller at Manhattan's Sheriffs department with badge number 1314008. This is a total scam DO NOT send them money you are not going to jail. By all means call these people relentlessly like they do you and have a little fun with them!!! They don't like when you insinuate them doing things with sheep or well anything. I made him so mad he call me an a**hole I said better to be one then smell like one. Needless to say I called him so many times that now they won't answer and I doubt they will call me again!! These people must be stopped! I was threatened and I told them to take my name off their scam list and that I had reported them to my bank, the FBI and FCC. I almost fell for this several years ago, but I quickly learned and have never fallen anywhere close to them since.

It is ALL a scam!! (they all have middle eastern accents) Don't give them any information whatsoever!  I get these from time to time over the last several years and the first time I almost fell for it. I instantly tell them now to take my name off their scam list and that I have notified my bank, the FBI and FCC.  They usually stop after that. I just had one this morning call my office three times only leaving a message once. It was from number 917-775-8486, Jeff Miller (that you can hardly understand). These guys are ridiculous!!  PLEASE don't ever give them any information on you. Trust me, it's a HUGE SCAM!!

I went along with what he was saying then since he didnt like everything I was saying so he requested to speak to Mr. *******. I told him I killed Mr. ******* 2 years ago so he cant speak to him. But if he really needed to speak to him come on down to Huntsville Texas & he can meet my 20 gage, then he can speak to Mr. ******* all he wants in hell!!! He didnt like that & hung up on me. I kept calling him back & he dont like that either.
These scammers are using majic jack phones calling from India which makes it hard for the FBI & Us Marshalls to stop them. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MONEY!!

Same persn called me... "Sherriff Jeff Miller". Undoubtedly the link is a payday loan, which has been paid back. He left a message on both home and cell phones. He did not say why, just that I needed to call before it was too late. It did scare me...I thought there was a mix-up that could get me arrested. I googled his fake name and number, and found his various scams here and another website. Because people thoughtfully recorded their experiences with him on both sites, I called back prepared. Just mention lawyers, recording the call, heavy penalties for impersonating law inforcement officers, etc. I did not raise my voice or threaten. By the time we got to the reason for my impending arrest it was strange---he said it was a loan for $325. I said "why would I borrow just $325?". He hung up. This was today. He has been calling for weeks. I hope it is over.

I   had 9177758486 call and tell me I owe money that they were going to send the Sherriffs after me. I called to give them my bankruptcy case # so I would not get the calls anymore. Thinking it was a Payday loan I defaulted on a while ago.  He tells me I cant use the bankruptcy for this. I told him to screw hisself, and he says "GOD BLESS YOu" Jeff Miller was his name...   TOTAL SCAM!!

same person called me i called them back about 20 times and told them i was going to send the police over there to pick them up so be there they got mad and told me to stop calling i'm not ill be calling for a few days tell they get it through there heads don't call me with that BS try somebody else.

i got a call from a 917-775-8486. saying they where from American Law Enforcerment and i had a lawsuite against my ss# after i taked to them for awhile checking out there number told them to do what they had to and i called them back about 15times i haven't heard from them in awhile i know they will call back in a couple of months but i'll be ready. If they call you  just keep calling them back and they will stop calling.

Jeff Miller called me too,, saying There was a warrent,,this happen before ,,nobody came to my house or work and arrested me ...ITS A SCAM...  I told him this isnt even a NY phone number   Funny They didnt call me back after I said that !  

Called initially claiming to be the Manhattan Sherrif's department.  I asked for a badge number and identification and a number to call back.  This was not the Manhattan Sheriffs Department.  I called back and the person answered the phone as the Manhattan Sheriffs Department so I hung up, and googled the Manhattan Sheriffs Department.  There is no such thing.  I called the number back and got a recording for a loan company.  I called the number back again and was immediately rolled to the recording.  Called the number again and was met with "How can I help you?" When confronted with the fact that they were not Law Enforcement at all - he said "So What"  I told him there are steep fines for impersonating law enforcement - he said "So What".  When I told him I would report him he stated "you do what you have to do."  

Called today and said my mother was in jail and needed $2500 to get her out. He said he was a Sheriff and his name was Jeff Miller. Heavy Indian accent. This is a scam.

this so called police threatening scammers have called for the LAST time.. I spent the whole day calling these fake criminals to the point they ask me to stop calling them. I contacted the detective in new york there number is 212-825-5904 call them and complain to them to stop these people!!!

Just received this phone call saying he was Jeff  Miller from Manhatten County Sheriff Department of New York.
Asked for a Daniel Cahoon. Then called him a her. His accent was so strong i had a difficult time understanding him, but realized this was another scam like the other 4 i have listed at my desk. (we get these all the time, we have a lot of employees). I told Jeff Miller i would take a message. And he got nasty and then he said have a great day.
i hung up on him.
