I just tried calling the number back today and it said:
"We are sorry the number dialed is not in service"

I have received calls from this number during the day and early evening for the last several weeks.
I let it go to voice mail and it left a partial message saying:
         "Press zero now if you do not wish to accept the charges".

The number is stilling calling but a message is no longer being left.
The area code and first three digits make it appear as a local call. Weird!!

I believe it is a number used by skype. My daughter called me from Europe using skype and this number showed up.

No doubt used by marketers using skype as well.

I just received the same call from a guy who I could barely understand. Said my computer was sending signals that there was a problem with it.  I told him I don't need his services and hung up!

Got a call from this number asking for my husband by his proper name (not shortened version that he uses). They said they'd call back. The number looked kind of familiar, but now I'm wondering who it was. I just called the number back and, like many of you, the number was not in services. Hmmmm.

Received a call Nov. 28/11 at approx. 5:04 pm asking if we had "windows" on our computer and wanted info about it and they could fix it.  I asked for their phone number that they were calling from and he said they did not have a return number.  When questions as to why someone working on behlalf of  "windows" did not have a return number the phone went dead.  
Tonight (Nov. 29/11) at approx. 4:28 pm a call came in from a local number 705-749-5676 asking about the same thing and when we tried to contact them right back the number was "no longer in service".  Then 1 minute later another long distance call "unknown name and unknown number" came from same people.  How do we stop this crap.

Get calls from this number every few weeks, no message and I'm not calling them back.

I wanted to let you know that this morning I got a quaint call, someone who didn?t speak English well telling me that they were such and such an organization receiving negative energy or something like that from my computer. Anyway, like me you have probably heard that there is a scam going on where people call and say something like this then get info from you that can result in bad stuff. I checked the number but of course it was blocked.

Just answered it for the third time in 20 mins.  Fax machine.  Probably marketing these stupid vacation deals.  What a waste of someone's time.

Ya, we get the same thing from that number, about twice a day and all?! So once we answered it, and it was just static, and we waited a while to calling "hello?!" and all, then eventually hung up. We were still quite curious and all as to who this is right? Because it seems local, and when we called back it said this number has been disconnected...creepy. That was yesterday, and we haven't had a call today, so I don't know, it's quite odd.

It's not strange at all. It's someone calling using a VOIP line. It could anyone, calling you through a voice over ip connection. Someone calling from skype or any other voice over ip service, can come up as this number. The STATIC is likely a bad connection related to the Voice Over IP technology but it's 90% someone who knows you, a friend overseas or someone using an internet cafe.

When I answer all you hear are beeps like it is a fax machine.  We have received this almost daily for months.

Calls come twice a day, morning and evening.

I am around Ptb and I answered the call thinking it was my friends cell. They asked me about my computer and if it was slow. I hung up on him. Looked up the # and got this board. Don't think it came from Peterborough and was just routed through there. I know the area is updating a lot of lines to handle VOIP so I wouldn't be surprised if scams are going to pop up looking like its coming from the area.

Got a call today, from someone who sounded like he was from India - even though the number was local, there was alot of static like it was over an ip connection.  He said he was calling to teach me how to recognize if my computer is getting a virus.  I think he was trying to get my ip address.  Total scam.

I received a call from this number, but it was from someone I knew in the states that has a totally different number.  This is the first time this number has come up on my call display when my friend has called.  I called the number back and the message said that it was out of service.

Has called me approx 8 times in the last 3 days and when I phone back, apparently the number is not in service.  Afraid to answer it now.

Got a call from this number. Said his name was Bruce Reed and was calling on behalf of Bell Canada from Vancouver, BC. Wanting me to sign up for 3 cell phones. He kept requesting my SIN number which I would not give him. He called 5 times yesturday. When I told him I was going to call Bell to confirm this offer, he was persistant in telling me not to. I haven't had a call yet today, but, it's still early.

Got a call from this number today, guy said he was Mark from Bell Mobility.  He said that our number was eligible for a free cell phone (interesting that he called our land line).  The connection he was calling from sounded so terrible (definitely wasn't good advertising for a cell phone company..lol).  It sounded like he was calling from a subway.  Either way, sounded like a fraud to me.

705-749-5676 calls every day in the middle of the day and doesn't say anything.  When I dial it back, the message indicates the number is not in service.

rang and hung up. last night at this time same number called ... it was a telemarketer offering a free cell phone.
