I have subscribed to newspapers for decades, many different newspapers, and I have never had these kind of verification calls before.  This call is about finding out more consumer information, not to verify the subscription.  By paying a subscription, the person is verifying that they want the subscription.  For free subscriptions, publishers do require an annual verification, usually done on-line but sometimes with a return mail postcard.
This company is a boiler room, trying to sell something, and should be considered spam, and placed on the do-not-call list.

This company is stubborn and keep asking for my children
who are minors,  they use the myfreebrandrewards.com
website in order to get people registered, with a promise
of winning a free price.   Then, they turn around and sell
the information to telemarketers who keep calling insistently,
despite of the requests for removal from the list.

Watch out where your kids visit.

It is a Call Center that is hired by these webistes such as myfreebrandrewards.com      They keep asking for my son who is
12 and they say that he said he was interested in going
to College.     They are trying to sell a $299 dll SAT
preparation program, but for the next few minutes the
program sells for ONLY $199.     They said that my son
visited this website since it shows that he would probably
win an IPOD or some kind of freebie.    

I asked them to remove my son from the list and they said they
would do it.   Well,  the next few days they are still calling,
asking for him.

I have had a call every day for the last few days.  I call the number back and it says "this is your newspaper....."  OK, why woulnd't it say which newspaper, if it really was My newspaper, they'd say that.  

I've had calls from all these numbers, a diff one every day, everyone has the same msg when you call. no msgs have ever been left on my phone from them

Interesting. I just got "the call" at 11:55 a.m. MST. I let "the machine" take the call: long silence, then hangup. At least I don't have to call back.

these people are savages someone needs to sue this company, i subscrided to a paper in sd, ca and then within a month the subscription was cancelled and they are just ridiculous. they call EVERYDAY at least once.

I received a call from this number today. I recently starting receiving the Tribuine Review and now the calls are starting. I just set my cell phone to a certain abbreveated letter and set that contact to slilent. It is way less irratatiing when you don't even know they called.

I got a call on my cell from 707-222-8149 yesterday and as I was looking it up just now I received one from 978-416-9502. I also had recently just signed up for a subscription to my local newspaper. I am irate that they sold my info! That's no way to treat a paying customer York Dispatch! You just lost my business you idiots! And I'm telling everyone I know not to subscribe to you! I haven't answered the calls and do not plan to. They have not left a message. I am about to refuse to give info out to anyone. This is ridiculous and such a nuisance. I'm so sick of unsolicited calls, email, mail, visitors. No wonder people go postal in this world, you can't get any peace and nothing is sacred...F%*! OFF TELEMARKETERS!!! Newspapers are required to verify that someone really did subscribe to the paper. If they did, they ask about service. The process is outsourced to a company with representatives all over the country. OIf there was a problem, they call back to see if it was resolved. There is nothing nefarious about what is going on. However, some people are irritated by the calls.

Just got a call on my cell from 707-222-8149 which I didn't answer. Called it back and got the "just calling to check on your newspaper" blah blah blah. Funny thing is, I DON'T SUBSCRIBE TO ANY NEWSPAPER! I plan to file a complaint via the Do Not Call Registry.

This is some sort of a spoofed number.  It has happened before.  In fact yesterday I got a call from a New Hampshire area code that like this one left no message and cannot be called back.  So much for the do not call list.

I received a call from this number and there is no response when you pick up. Just ignore the call when it comes in as this number.

About 2 weeks ago I subscribed to my local paper, I don't know how the service is, I've only received one paper so far. Guess I will continue to ignore these calls. I got scared, though, thought it was my aunt in NH calling me on her cell phone (and I didn't have her number) about a family emergency or something.

OMG! I just got a call from 269-290-7122, googled the number, it's Kalamazoo, MI! I just have to laugh now.

This number 707-222-8149 is a service contracted by newspapers to follow up on your overall satisfaction with the newspaper delivery.

I have also received a call from this number. Funny that they never left a VM. If it is not important enough of a call for them to leave a VM as to who they are and why they are calling, then I feel they are not important enough for a return call.  Also have received calls from the following #'s. Bunch of "jackwagons"!

If they are required to make sure about the subscriber, they would do it themselves, not go through a company such as this.  I too just subscribed 2 weeks ago to my local paper, and called yesterday to see why I was not getting it, and they said I had been getting it the last 4 days.  I told them I had not gotten the paper at all, and cancelled my paper.   Now today, I get a damn call from  the 707-222-8149 number, so yes, this is nefarious calls, and a pain in the a**.

I got a call from this number - and like most everyone else, I don't answer if I don't know who it is. They left a "message" - but it was just silence with some odd clicking noises (sounded sorta like someone typing on a typewriter). I called the number back and it went to a recording that said "Hello, you are reaching CLC. We are calling today on behalf of your newspaper service. We are calling today to confirm your satisfaction of your newspaper services and delivery...". I hung up but it sounded like they wanted me to leave them a message so they could again call me back. Why would they expect someone to leave THEM a message when they didn't even have the courtesy to leave a message when the called me?!
