7/29/13-- Just got a text from 707-879-8597 about my media center on craigslist. Wants to buy sight unseen. Just asked for my PayPal info. Said he cant call me because his "satellite server" has been down for days.. What? Your texting me and you cant call? Its all digital communications, text or voice doesn't matter.  This guy is a scam artist for sure.. ** I LOVE WHOCALLSME.COM ** This is the BEST community!! Thanks everyone!!

Yes?  This person is a complete scam!  We are tracing them now.  Here is a text we got from them.

Name:Sandra Schuler Address: 4732 S Elite ST, City:Springfield State: IL Zipcode : 62702, United :State. Note: kindly go to any (Nearest store) and send the money and do get back to PayPal customer care with the necessary information below and along with the scan receipt copy for proper verification and proof of payment so that they can credit the amount of $2,350.00 USD into your account immediately Thanks

Got an email in the middle of the night from this number.  Wants to buy furniture I am selling on craigslist.  Does this sound familiar.  This morning ask for my paypal account.  Thanks for the post, confirmed it is a scam

I got my first text from them in the middle of the night, last night. It's a sleepy Sunday, so I am going to play with them for a while. LoL All I had to do was to type the fist 6 digits of the phone number into google and a whole series of results shows for this exact number - all associated with scams. If I mess with them enough, it will take up their time and make scamming people just a little less fruitful for them. I opened a new e-mail account specifically for this person because I found their texts slightly suspect and figured that if they actually send me money, I can simply connect the e-mail address to my paypal account and comfirm it to receive the payment. Otherwise, delete the e-mail account and no biggie. I have, however reposted the item, which I had removed upon their request, so that they would "send the payment". I asked what was the hold-up as I didn't receive an e-mail from PayPal for some time after. They said that "i will proceed the payment in some hours time cos I'm at work now." ( so you all can see the brand of "strange wording we are talking about, here. I instantly thought "Yeah you're at work because this *is* your work! What is your deal? E-mail phishing? Selling addresses to spammers? Bank fraud? ID theft? Whatever it is, I've got a fence to keep you out. Muahahahaha!" Hah! Just got another. They "will proceed with the payment in 2hours time". This is a google voice number, not an actual phone number. (Yup, I called from home to avoid texting fees. LoL I am having fun texting, so it is worth 2 cents a pop for me right now. LoL) I love having my own url with unlimited e-mail addresses included. I can easily set up e-mails to protect myself and delete if needed!  I called the FTC but they are closed, so I will let them know about this tomorrow. I am sure that this is not actually coming from CA, though - or from the USA at all, for that matter.

I reported this number to the Federal Trade Commission. 877-382-4357.  They filed a complaint for me in less than a minute and were very helpful!!!!

This person texted me repeatedly about an item I posted on craigslist.  Asked me over and over to establish a paypal account and provide all info. Was very vague and didn't answer my questions about his location and name of company. The wording of the texts was odd as well.Texted back and said I was selling to someone local. He/she asked again for info. I quit responding and will block the number.

707-879-8597   This is a number connected to a Craigslist Scam Artist.  Said his name was Larry Smith. Asked for my name, address,phone....said he would send me a certified check for my furniture.  Long story short, he is a Repeated Scam Artist. Do not give people your name, address, personal information. They  target you, rob your house, they victimize innocent people, steal money and possessions any way they can.

I received a text message from this number and because I've gotten so many scammers from Craigslist, I decided to check the number out. I'm glad I did based on the information on this website.

We have been getting strange text messages today from this number about buying office furniture. Person will not answer calls only text. Gave them PayPal information. Now worried.

My husband and I posted high end furniture and since day 1 this number 707-879-8597 wanting to purchase it, wanting our paypal account, and also wanting us to pay the shipping. What are these scammers fools or just plain stupid.

He just texted me about an expensive rug I have on CL.  I texted him back and said I would be glad to deal with him but due to the "troublesome" history associated with his phone number I would only deal in certified funds.

Definite SCAM. Sent text about nice furniture I posted on Craig's list. Would not call me or give email address for me to send additional items I was going to sell. Wanted Pay Pal ID. When I volunteered to send a request for funds from a relative's account if we worked something out  they said I should go to PayPal.com and open one. Wanted price for other furniture without even seeing what it was. When I asked for their name and location they never responded again. Another site has this number listed by multiple people as scammers also- hacking pay pal accts  etc. Defintely Beware.

Why these people don't figure out we will Google them is beyond me. I have had three so far for a pool table. All refuse to speak on the phone and have all sorts of reasons for why they can't show up in person or pay cash. Total scammer.

CL scammer!!! Don't believe what they tell you! Very very pushy trying to get info from you on PayPal accounts and anything else they can get! Not happy with trying to sell stuff on Craig's List!! To many out of state scammers. Be very careful with out of state numbers contacting you for high priced furniture!!

It's a Craigslist scammer trying to buy high value items remotely by having seller pay fees up front via PayPal and/or Western Union. There's a million of them out there.
