Please file a complaint with the CFPB. I had the same situation happen to me except he never actually spoke of a debt & never stated a monetary amount that I owe. I spoke to my legal representation after two weeks of harassment at my place of employment. My lawyer called and directed him to cease & desist all communication with me and to contact him if he wished to discuss the matter further in accordance with fair debt collection practices act. Since then, he has disappeared & I haven't received another phone call. My lawyer suggested that I file a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General and the U.S. Attorney's office for the northern district of Illinois. This man is a scam artist & needs to be stopped.

This Brian person has called me 8 times today and it's still morning. I blocked the number but it is so aggravating. Getting ready to change my number. He is telling me I owe 1325.00. Even if I would owe someone that much I think I would of gotten a letter on the mail. This is a scam threatened to have my husband arrested so sick of these people.

If he won't mail you proof of debt and proof he can collect, then he's out of luck.  Per the FDCPA, you should not pay any caller who refuses to mail proof of debt/proof they can collect, to you.  Please do let your workplace know you're being harassed by a scammer, and do report the caller to the FTC, FBI and your state's Attorney General.

BTW, debt is civil, not criminal, so no one is going to be arrested.  In fact, refusing to mail proof of debt, violating your privacy by disclosing the reason for the call to a third party (your workplace), and threatening you with arrest are all violations of federal law.  Since he has your personal info - please do look into taking identity theft protection.  Also contact at least one of the three credit bureaus - Experian, Equifax or TransUnion, and your bank(s) and have them place fraud alerts on all your accounts.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

Bryan Jones from Rapid Recovery is a nasty jerk! He called my job and told me I sound like I have a dress on and I need to give him $1400 today or I will be arrested. He said I owe money to MY CASH NOW. Never heard of this place and he will not send me any copies of any documents that I suppose of signed. He will not stop calling my phone. He keep leaving messages. He even told my job that I have a warrant out for my arrest. I wish he just leave me alone. He told me I know you have plenty of money. He read me my ss#, my address, my lic# and told me he could do what ever he want with my personal information.  This is very scary and this man needs to be reported!

I have also called our companies lawyer and he said not  to give them any information in till I see something in writing.

Got a call from Bryan Jones, from Rapid Recovery Solutions, Inc. LLC. He claimed he was not a debt collector, but he was working on the legal side of the company. He was threatening me saying that there was going to be a warrant issued for my arrest for a payday loan from Cashnet USA. Also stated that this was a courtesy call before being arrested. He wouldnt give his address location.
