Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

They love that phrase " the situation unfolds on you'.  All the Indian scammers use it when they're threatening you with something.  You read that phrase and you know right then and there they are Indian scammers.  The damn fools don't realize how they continually give themselves away.

These jack***es called me at work on April 30th and told me their was a lawsuit against me and i had been investigated for fraud and something about a loan however i have never had a loan....they caused me to lose an hour of work which i need every damn hour i can get....however i contacted the police department because these jack***es knew my social security number and birthday and my home address and work address and called me on my work number which really pissed me the f*** off....been thinking about it and i think it may be the same jack*** that called me a few days prior and i told him noone was at the number by the name he was first looking for and he said then whats your name bi*** and i said excuse me and he said it again whats your name bi*** and i said excuse me what did you say to me and he was like mam whats your name....it is scary how much information they had so i contacted my personal bank today and we closed out my account so if they had the info to it they wouldnt get anywheres....I promise them mother f****rs one thing they messed with the wrong bi*** this time

any luck with the Lawyers?  They have been calling my since November 2013.  Sometimes 20 times within minutes of eachother.  First the calls were coming in from a 1-888, or 1-800, or 1-889 number, but now they are coming in at this 712 number.  We do have a case going with the wright co. sherif office, but all they are doing is keeping the notes of when when they called and what the voicemails are, but they can't do antyhing about it.  Just wondering if you have any better luck with a Lawyer.

I have to assure you that this is a total scam.  You can even call me and I will tell you directly the situation.  My name is Lora Sloan and I live in Texas.  You can call me [removed] and I will assure you this is a total scam.  If you didn't call me I will hope you know this is a total scam.  

Please don't fret.  I called this company several times today and I lured them into a sexual situation and they total fell for it.  They are a scam from India.

I just received a call today from the same as everyone else.  The non-gentleman stated that I have a criminal case against me and he needs my attorney information.  I told him I didn't have one and didn't know what he was talking about.  He was going to transfer me to their legal dept. so they could explain.  I hung up.  He tried calling me back twice and on the third try he left a voicemail as follows:

"This is the last and final warning for {my name}.  {my name} you have received this message, I need you or your retaining attorney or practice to return the call.  The issue again is extremely time sensitive.  My name is Mark Cooper (Indian people don't acquire American names) and hotline to my division is 712-283-4255, I repeat that 712-283-4255.  Don't disregard this message.  Return the call NOW.  If you don't return the call or I don't hear from your attorney either... the only the only thing I can do is wish you good luck as the situation unfolds on you.  Good bye."  

What a joke.  I'm so tempted to call back and screw with them and play the guilty person they claim me to be and ask how much money will resolve this.  Since all the complaints are within the past week, it must be something new.  It'll get resolved eventually.  

Got a phone call and they had said I was going to jail. I never heard of these people then he called me a M*****F*****so I did a skip trace and called back and asked from what law office he was from and he tried throwing a good law office under the bus plus they threatened to kill me and my family. Well I'm a Army Ranger and we don't run from anything.  So I called the real law office and they was very polite and have heard the same complaints. These forgin b*****ds need to be stopped.  I owe NO money to no one. They messed with the wrong damned person.

Recieved a call threatining me with trouble and to get an attorney, called back and asked for the firms name, was told to FO and they hung up. Called Phoenix police and was told they could not help me.

I am a 61 yr old female with terminal liver cancer stage IV. My husband died 2 months ago from unknown reasons. So imagine by fear when I recieved this call @ work that the police would be here to arrest me in 3 hours. The man had such a thick East Indian accent but he made it clear enough that I could get a green dot card and pay my "debt" if I would contact them at the same number he is giving every one else, I called the atorney general's office and gave them the information I had. I got this same call yesterday. Called my cell and my direct line at work. I was very unsettled by the amount of information they had on me. I was transferred to a "Sheldon" who offered to make payment arrangements with me, but requested payment by GreenDot MoneyPak card. Ummmm, no sir! These people are complete jerks. Do not give them any money. Don't even talk to them. Just hang up. This is complete garbage. I went ahead and reported them to the attorney generals office and you should too.

My husband was called on his work line and was threatened with being arrested unless a certain amount of money was sent today. I called the number after researching that is is a scam and when I asked that my husband's number be removed from their call list, they threatened me with going to jail and called me b!+?4 several times. I called back for a supervisor from another phone and was treated the same. They would not answer from the original phone! It is very scary to me that these Indian people have access to our very private information. I truly hope there are some regulatory standards in place by our government for all of our American jobs they gave to India. They handle nearly all Accounting, medical billing etc. (our private information), if there is not something in place by our government, there should be!!!

I just received a call from this number and they also called my work number leaving the same message. I'm so fed up with these people preying on anyone they can did up online. I intend to call the local police and see what else to do. The scare tactics scare me, even though I'm 90% sure I don't owe anyone money. So damn frustrated...

Just got a call and I could barely understand what was said and he said he was from Corbett and Paulson so I asked him who was Corbett Anderson and corbett, and he said he didn't know.  I asked him for the address but he wanted to know why.  He made all these threats and I told him I filed banckruptcy and he said that did not matter and he slammed the phone down. The number they called me from was 712-  283-4255. If they call me back, I will call the lawyers office.

Just recieved thiss same call..... complete bs only to get on  here and see it was a scam.. I was contacted by a Dexter Walker with the Corbeet Law firm from 712-283-4255.. Called me all kinds of bad names and then told me never to call them again. and also said I would be arrested..

My call was the same as the rest. They have called me 7 times already today. When I asked the name of the law firm I got the same one as everyone else as well. All a scam turned it into my states attorney general.

This number called me and left me a message telling me that I would be arrested tomorrow.  He also stated my social security number and home address.

I got the same call! I didn't answer the 1st time, they didn't leave a message and called right back, so I answered and laughed at him the whole time. He said "you find this funny" I said "yes very funny that somebody with a fake accent is calling me from Iowa with criminal charges and Ive never been there, wtf is in Iowa anyway?" Lol then I said better yet let me turn this number over to the police! He hung up and no more calls! Don't give him any info!

The scammers are using that address and a slightly different name for scam purposes.  

You're not going to get any legal case up against the scammers because they are located in India and are pretty much bullet-proof against American law enforcement.

this message for Monica no last name. It was important that I call or my attorney. He spoke with a Philipino accent don't recall the name. I have received calls from this number about 2 weeks ago stating I would arrested at my job or home. I was recently involved in money scam and that is when these calls started. The general involved in the scam was Alex Edwards representing the company FastCash Loans in Los Angeles. His number is 323-739-7180.

Do not give these people any information it is all a scam and they try to scare people into giving information or money - if there was a real legal issue they wouldn't call you they would just be serving you - I have sent my information on these people to the local authorities and on to the FBI - they have called my cell phone and work and they need to be stopped - the more information people give them the more they stay around to scare people - so sad.

I just got this same call at my place of work stating he works for a Lawyers office and that I have a warrent out for my arrest and that they will be picking me up either my place of employment or my home tomorrow. His name was Mr Walker from 712-283-4255

I have gotten this same call all day today

i just got off the phone with a Mr. Walker..  i could not understand him, so i dont know if he said Clyde or Tyson...  i asked him for the name of the company, where he was located at and the address..  he did not give me the address, he wanted to know why i needed it and went to yelling at me, he said about tomorrow ..then i asked him why he was calling me and he told me to F--- Y-- and hung up.

He said the name of the Law Firm is Corvet and Paulson. 423 6th Street, Sioux Falls, Iowa, 51102. Phone is 712-283-4255. Don't answer this call he is a scam trying to obtain social security numbers, and personal information. I called him back and informed him he was breaking the law. he hung up so i called him back and said, "Further if anyone has a lawsuit against them they will have papers served to them or over the mail never by phone". when I told him this he said "stop calling me f******* a**". So I called one more time and never heard from him again.

I just got the call and barely could understand either person I spoke to. The first person told me he is transferring me to a paralegal. Then Tyson Walker came on and told me to get an attorney because I am going to jail for bank fraud. I asked him not to call back and he called four more times. My husband took the last call and he told my husband he is going to jail for supporting a criminal, meaning me. lol. He said the name of the Law Firm is Corvet and Paulson. 423 6th Street, Sioux Falls, Iowa, 51102.  Phone is 712-283-4255. I called Morgan and Morgan lawyers who said if they continue to harass me, to call them back and they will review a potential case.

I just received a call from this number as well. Person requesting that I obtain an attorney. Although the person identifies himself as a Mr. Ferdandez he sounds as though he is from India. I researched the number over the internet and did not find a viable business. I'm blocking these calls. I don't owe anyone any money so, I will not allow someone to scam me!
