Said I needed to get in touch with an attorney because of some federal law I violated in Aug 2005 I was in Prison then

These are scammers who tell you that you owe them and if not paid you will go to jail.  It's all illegal what they are doing.

a person names edwin schnieder with a heavy indian accent called saying i owe money and that a have to pay or else go to jail. nothing he said made sense. i looked up the phone number he gave me and all the comments said its a scam.

I had the same thing happen today....number was 713-366-8137 he insisted on getting my credit card number, and he had my social # I don't know if I am supposed to pay or not, his name was Mike Wilson with a heavy indian accent, he told me i had to pay 738.00 or go to jail and go to court and have to pay 3.000....

amanda..please dont pay its a scam they can not threating to put you in jail and to be more precise you dont go to jail for a civil matter.you can do one or two things
1,dont answer the phone when they call
2.if you do answer and they sat there sending the sherrif to your house just laugh and laugh and see how mad he gets and now he knows he cant use the scare tactic on you and he probably wont call you again.

I got the same call today. The caller-id said Unavailable, but he left (713) 366-8136 as the number to call back. They asked for me and said they had my social security number and asked for my biological sister, who lives in another state. They said that it was a serious matter and they were calling from the Department of Crime, and that his name was Frank Miller. He also had a strong indian accent. I tried to look it up but I couldn't trace the number or find a "Department of Crime" in Texas. What I want to know is how they got that much information regarding a sibling that I have no actual legal ties to. I was adopted at the age of two, so no legal documents tie us together. Hell, we didn't even meet until the age of 17.

Is anyone that is receiving these calls from VA?

This number has been calling me a my work. The names they have given me are Chris Wilson and Eric Stone.  I do not remember doing any kind of loan back in 1996. They have been told not to call anymore but they did this last week and I hung up on them

left this number as the number to call back.
