I find some of the remarks posted about these ?faux telemarketer calls? amusing.  I put together a software program that has logged over 380 of these annoyance calls since 2012.  Those of you that let the calls roll to your answering machine, voicemail or worse yet answered the call you have just ensured you will get another of these calls.  Maybe not from the same number, but they?ve just identified your number as valid and passed it on.  Most of the initial calls originate from software (aka; ?robocalls?) ? once your number is identified as active, then a person may be there on the follow up calls.  If you have the capability to ?block? the number that called ? that is the best action.  If you don?t have a blocking option, keep a phone with caller ID close by and simply hit ?talk? and ?off? simultaneously.  If you really want to block them ? there is reasonably priced software that a layman can install.  Of the 380 calls I?ve blocked, only 16 have been in the last 6 months.  So the message is simple ? blocking works?.

That doesn't work anymore.  I was told they can't prevent the occasional calls.  I have told them not to call again. They just change their number.  My suggestion:  turn your ringer off,  if it's someone you know, they will leave a message.  Don't get scammed.  Best wishes,

If it is important they will leave a message, if it's not I don't want to talk to them anyway.

Don't answer is my advice to you just gives them a reason to call again. They know your # is valid if you answer.

I don't answer the call either. What good does it do to be on the Do Not Call registry when they circumvent the entire program.

I never contribute over the telephone and I seldom answer these calls.

We had a missed call from them. No message was left.  Thanks to all the information given above, I have blocked their number on our phone so when they call here, it will not go through to us, it will just hang up.  If you do not know how to block calls on your phone, here is how it is done on our phone, and maybe same/similar for you... Use CID button on your phone and find the number you want to block.  Click Save (yes, scary but you must click save).  After you click Save it asks if you want to save to Phone book or Call Block.  Choose Call Block.  Then it will ask you to confirm with Yes or No.  Click Yes.  Click Save again and now that number is blocked.  If they call again, your phone may ring once but then it will block the call and hang up.

BCFA 713-955-5554   Called about helping with donation for breast cancer.  I asked who they supported because I don?t support orgs. who support planned parenthood and she quickly wanted to get off the phone

Called our office today at 10:47 AM. Hung up before navigating our IVR. Caller ID said BCFA 7139555554.

got a call from a lady wanting to talk to the woman in the house. when I said she wasn't here (which was a lie), she said then I am authorized to talk to anyone in the household. then she went through her whole spiel again, repeating the same information for me and I said, "yeah, I heard you the first time," and then I told her that we give regularly to MD Anderson in Houston.

this is the funny part. she said, "well, sir, we never want to compete with other cancer charities and pull from their resources, so can I count on you to commit to the smallest contribution amount and send out a kit to you today?"

I laughed and said, "do you hear yourself? you just did." at that point I was about to ask her to put me on her do not call list and she hung up on me. that really got my goat, so I tried to call back because I did that one other time and someone actually answered and I told them I had politely listened to their presentation on my phone and then was hung up on.... and they proceeded to apologize and put me on their do not call list.

no such luck with this bunch. no one answers when you call the number back. so I got on-line to research them because it has a Houston area code, near me and lo and behold I find out it's a scam. I'd like to give that lady a piece of my mind...especially knowing that sweet ladies like my mom would probably fall for it.

All BCFA breast cancer financial assistance.  I don't know if they are legit or not, but now I am blocking all 713-955 numbers.  My blocked call list is maxed out so I am looking for way to "lengthen" it.

Your greeting/disclaimer wouldn't be worth the time taken to record it... there's nothing legal about it and it won't stand up in any court... except your own kangaroo court, of course...

They called this morning claiming to be the Breast Cancer Assistance Fund. I hung up on the woman before she got through the first line of her spiel. I researched the organization and the money they raise does nothing to help the woman who have breast cancer. It helps the CEO. Do a search for the organization and you will know it is a scam.

Actually, there are several things people can do - you can register with http://www.stoppoliticalcalls.org/index.php - which does work.  When a charity calls, you can tell them to put you on their internal do not call list - and they must comply, otherwise they are just as liable to get fines for disregarding your request as businesses which disregard the DNC list.  There are MANY call blockers - a good few with more features than the Digitone.  You can find call blockers for less than $60 on Amazon.com which are as good, if not better than the Digitone.

It don't matter if your on the federal and Texas no call list, they allow charities and political phone calls.  The only thing you can do about it is what I did, buy a Digitone call blocker.  And no, I am NOT affiliated with Digitone in any way, form or fashion.  I paid for mine just like everyone else has to.  Expensive little buggers, but well worth the money.  When I bought mine about 2 years ago it cost me $100.  I know that a lot of people can't afford that kind of nicety, but perhaps they have come down in price since then.  If you do go shopping for one, make sure to do your homework first, they all don't have the features that the Digitone does.  Good luck.....
BTW, I got a call from 713-955-5554 too, but since it was their first time calling it didn't get blocked.  When a call comes in that's blocked by your specifications, the call will be instantly hung up unless there's another phone in the house, which will then only ring once.  When a marketer calls, all he/she will hear is "'CLICK' and a dial tone".  :>

Duh ~ ~ I answered the call and it was from a woman requesting donations for some cancer thing.  I declined and hung up.

3 pm  4/2/14 phone call from BCFA -- left no msg on my answering machine.

Received a call from this--they asked for the lady of the house and said they were with the Breast Cancer Awareness Fund, or something like that.  Said she wanted to send me a pledge kit for a donation to them.  When I asked if there was a website for them that I could visit instead, she insisted on getting some information from me.  When she asked for my name, I told her I wasn't interested and hung up.  Any legitimate charitable organization would have a website, I would think.

Just got a call from this number, caller ID said BCFA and I don't answer my phone anymore,  I have turned off my answering machine so I don't have to listen to these a**hats give me their information off a copy that they read.  Not giving to anyone where 95% lines the pockets of some idiot in the corner office.  This is just wrong to bother hard working people in the US of A.   Charity begins at home.

Received a phone call from this number and I  didn't answer.  The man on the phone called my name and said "hey sexy".  I guess this is a ploy to get you to find out who it is.  The fact that I'm 85 let me know he didn't know me.
