I got a call from this number as well -- from an "Eva Green" (VERY broken English).  First of all, I did a little search, and this number is not recognized by online Yellow Pages.  Also (to the author prior), you said the caller said he is "extraditing" you to CA?  How ironic, since "714" is a California area code.  How can they extradite you to a state they pretend to be calling from in the first place?  These people are such scum-sucking losers!!

Okay, I misspoke about the "extraditing" thing (if you're outside of CA) -- I see now what you were trying to say.  Still, this is a scam!!  The woman has called me continually today, and I finally answered and challenged her on a lot of stuff that didn't add up (i.e., phony phone number and address, etc.), and guess what -- she stopped calling me!

This is some very valuable information I received this a.m.  I was able to locate and contact the phone company that handles some of the telephone numbers for some of these idiots.  But, they are not in control of what telephone numbers they give out to who, because this all starts in the states.  The telephone company for this specific phone number is Pac-West.  So, here is the information I got. This is something called VOIP, or now Vhishing.  These individuals have a main person that subscribes to a Google voice (international component) which sends your telephone number and calls to an internet IP address which they program into their phone.  They are then able to show their caller i.d. as not being international, but a local telephone number through the agent that set up the telephone number locally. All processed through an internet IP address through the U.S., which interconnects internationally through old copper landlines and VOIP phones, so when calls come in to you, they will appear to come from local telephone numbers.  The representative from Pac-West stated that those of you who are being harassed by these morons call the California PUC to file a complaint.  But, if you call Pac-West, they will contact the person who set up the landline and have you removed from their call list.  Unfortunately, the person who sets up these lines in the U.S., can then have these idiots overseas do what's called "vhish" (not "phish") for new telephone numbers to use and then again subscribe.  What happens when they "vhish" for new telephone numbers to get, there can be 10,000 to choose from.  That's why, some times, you may receive calls from several different telephone numbers.  I rec'd 15 several months ago from a landline in Suffolk County New York, which is Long Island.  Essentially, they can pick and choose what numbers they want.  In addition, some times, you might receive a call from a weird telephone number, such as a 501-12345 (which is clearly not a U.S. number), and the way they do this is through the "vhising," they can change the call back number to whatever sequence of numbers they choose.

Call the California PUC to file a report.

I got the same call this morning and the people said the same exact thing that was said to the other people on this page. So I decided to prank them, they do'nt know who they are messing with. I recorded the phone call using a fake name. They put me on hold for about a minute or 2 then came back on with all this info on the name I used. These people are idiots. So I decided to tell them I'd contact my lawyer then they went in to this whole thing about how I'd be arrested. So I finally told them they were full of crap, to put it a nice way. Then the lady said she would put me on with some type of officer.
He came on but I did'nt give him a chance to say anything. I did contact my lawyer and he said they can't do anything, If something did occur they would have to get a warrant and if you do owe on a payday loan when have you ever been arrested for not paying it back. It goes on your credit record and turned over to a real collection agency. Gotta give them credit for this scam cause it's scaring a lot of people at first. I knew right away with the question I asked that they are full of crap. So do'nt worry the slightest bit if you get a phone call from this number and your being told you owe money and they want you to pay that day with a credit card. It's all a scam!

I received a call about a month ago, by the same "Eva Green" stated above. She threatened me to send the case to court and an officer would show up at my home to arrest me. I do remember taking a loan and I did move so I thought it was because of that they didn't reach me by mail. I told her I needed something in writing and she said she needed to know if I wanted to resolve this out of court. After a long conversation I paid $100. Weeks passed and no confirmation, no letter, no email, no fax, nothing. I tried calling last week and a lady in Honduras answered telling me it was the wrong number.  Saturday, Eva Green and a Mark Thompson called me to pay the remainder as "I had agreed" so I told me send me a letter, a form, anything with your company letter head and they refused. Then they finally agreed.  Two hours later another man called saying that was impossible, so I said I will not pay a dime til I receive it, so he then said he will send me the information if I pay $200.  I said no, and they said the case will be sent to the courts on monday. They also refused to give me their website and address. I reported them to the Better Business Bureau and to the real Gibbs Law Firm.  Note, the name they used saturday was Legal Accounts Association.

I received this call today from these people and became very upset. I was told that charges had been filed against me regarding a defaulted payday loan and that I was being charged with fraud and theft. I was told that they would be willing to take an out of court restitution and that once payment is received they would drop all charges against me. I was starting to feel scammed and when I asked for paperwork I was told that since I was the suspect it is illegal for them to send me any information which is why I was receiving the phone call. They laughed at me when I started to becoming emotional. I asked them for a callback number and was given 714-409-0621 as well as a fax number of 949-743-2791 and to put attn: ALLEN WATSON. Not one of the three people I spoke with spoke very good english and were not able to find anyone that did. After I finished the call I did a search and found this site. Thanks to all that posted before me; it was very helpful.

I received a call at work from a "Jason Fox" from 714-409-0261. He left a voicemail stating that I have an urgent matter that needs to be taken care of and not to ignore his call, If I did not return his call all he could do is wish me good luck at what was about to happen to me. OK sounds like  threat to me!! When I heard the voicemail I called my husband to let him listen to it, he took the number down and called "Jason Fox" it took him several tries to get through but finally did get the opprotunity to speak to "Jason Fox". "Jason Fox" said he was with an attorney's office from the Los Angelos area and would not give any information regarding what creditor or account he was calling about. My husband found the phone number to the attorney online and called the attorneys office they had no employee by the name of "Jason Fox" and said they had already received several calls that day regarding these calls.
The attorneys office informed my husband that the DA's office had been notified and that this was a scam. Dont be fooled by these calls, be aware!! These people are bullies and try to scare people into giving up hard earned money. If you do get a call from them ask them if they mind being recorded for security purposes and see if they hang up!!

WALLINGFORD, CT, August 07, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Better Business Bureau is warning consumers about would-be debt collectors who call "payday" loan holders, threatening arrest if they don't pay immediately.

A payday loan, also known as a paycheck advance, is a short-term cash advance intended to cover expenses until the holder's next payday.

The callers claim they are lawyers with the "Financial Accountability Association" or the "Federal Legislation of Unsecured Loans," and they are armed with stolen personal information from their victims, indicating a major security breach of unknown origin. The names used by the scammers may change with time.

According to Connecticut Better Business Bureau President, Paulette Scarpetti, payday loan holders appear to be particularly at risk.

"Because the scammers have so much information about potential victims, BBB is concerned that this may be the result of a data breach. Thousands of people may have had their personal information compromised."

Reports received by Better Business Bureau and posted online explain the con artists threaten the loan holders of defaulting and claim they are being sued. The imposters threaten the loan holders with imminent arrest and extradition to California to stand trial, unless they immediately wire $1000 or provide bank account or credit card information.

Connecticut Better Business Bureau has advice for consumers who receive suspicious telephone calls about an outstanding debt:

-Don't be bullied into immediate action. Ask the debt collector to provide official documentation that substantiates the debt.
-Do not provide or confirm any bank account, credit card or other personal information over the telephone until you confirm the legitimacy of the call.
-If you believe a debt collector is trying to scam you, file an abuse complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) online at www. ftc.gov, or by telephone at (202) 326-2222. Also file a complaint with your Better Business Bureau at http://www.bbb.org or by telephone at 203-269-2700, ext. 2.

They called me yesterday and today and left a voice message that me or my attorney needed to call me back and that if they did not receive a return call from me they wished me the best of luck with what may happen. I have tried to call them back from a land line and all I get is a beeping sound.
From what I have read on this posting it sounds like a scam. I took a payday loan out a few years ago and they have been paid in full.

Someone from this number called me this morning and said that I owed money on a payday loan from Sept. 2008 and that they needed to speak to my attorney regarding the matter and that it was about to be turned over to the courts.  I questioned them repeatedly and got no concrete answers...they wouldn't send me documentation to prove their alligations.  They said I owed over $5000 with legal fees and when I told them I couldn't pay that they said they could settle with late fee and loan amount for a total of $900 plus....when I told them I didn't have that money either they said they could settle for $480.47.  They wanted me to fax a form stating why I couldn't pay the full amount and that I agreed to the settlement.  I am not that naive but they really had me thinking that I missed something over a year ago.  After more research on my part I discovered this is a fraudulent way for them to make money.  To top it off they are still calling this afternoon and want me to run money thru my account for someone who was in the hospital sick.  They sound very real and very convincing but it's all a LIE.  They state that they are a law firm but they really are a loan to loan (payday) loan company from the UK.
