These are scammers, several have notified the FBI, if they call you, report to your local authorities. They will threaten with lawsuits and all kinds of stuff. #s they are associated with are 760-269-4173, and 818-337-3036, 714-786-4141 and 771-478-4141 and 771-478-64141 (that is how it shows on my cell)

Got the call again today from Ronnie cooper, 760-269-4173, I have reported them to the FBI and also put an alert on my SS# I told him not to call this was a scam. We shall see if they try to call again.

OMG The same thing just happened to me. Honestly I was a little shaken up until now after reading these posts. The number that called me is 714-786-4236. He threatened me with all kind of charges, saying that he would contact my employer and have a warrant issued for my arrest. I do have a open payday loan with lakota cash and didnt know if they were affiliated with cash america or not and didnt think to ask because I was all shaken up. After I told him that I didnt have the money to pay today he quickly responded saying ok well we will be calling your job Monday morning and filing these charges with your state of residence and then he hung up the phone in my face. I had to stop and think and came up with the idea to google the number and this is what came up. Thank God this was a scam because I was really scared at first, so now I know in the future to google the number before I let then frighten me. Oh and Ive  read that these people got your info from hacking into the payday loan service software and that you should consider changing your bank acct and putting an alert on your credit file. Hi this happen to me march28-29,12 they keep yelling and threatening me say I'm going to jail.. And their be here tommorrow., I didn't do anything. So I call the police and filed a report with state police... Why are they doing this?

Folks, this may be the you-owe-debt extortion scam. Obviously if you have no debt, you know this is a scam but if you do owe debt, this is how you can tell a legit collection call from a scam. The first thing that should happen is a legit collector/lawyer contacts you by phone or mail and this *INITIAL CONTACT* is considered a special event by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf . Section 809 of the FDCPA *REQUIRES* the collector to tell you at initial contact (first phone call, first letter, etc.), or send you paperwork within 5 days of initial contact, 5 items. If you don't get them orally or in writing at initial contact (you do not have to ask for them, collectors are legally obligated to provide them), treat the collector like you would a SCAMMER. The 5 items are:
1. $amount of debt,
2. name of the current creditor (which may differ from the original creditor who might have sold your debt),
3. a statement that that debt will be assumed to be valid unless you dispute in writing within 30 days, (get a mailing address from your collector)
4. a statement that that if you do dispute in writing within 30 days, the collector must mail you written verification of the debt,
5. a statement that if you ask the collector in writing within 30 days, the collector must send you the name and address of the original creditor if it's different from the current creditor.
The collector can threaten court action at initial contact but the FDCPA requires that the collector actually take you to court if the collector threatens it. Threatening court and not going through with it is illegal.
Note that 3,4,5 must be done *IN WRITING* so you will need to ask an address from your collector. If s/he refuses to give you one for any reason, treat the collector like a SCAMMER.

I rec'd the exact same message and an Indian guy said his name was Mike Johnson calling from Federal Legislation of Customer Affairs and Business Regulation.  He said there had been a lawsuit filed against my name and social and there are three criminal charges placed  agains my name and social and if I didn't call and don't take this serious that he could only wish me luck in this situation as it unfolds on you.

Same thing just happen to me... First the indian man stated he was from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department. I'm the biggest grump in the morning, so i sarcastically said, "really! That's why you're calling from an Orange County number?" He then became loud and attempted to be threatening. Again, I'm a grump in the morning.... so i told him off and he hung up. I look up the number online and here I am. Although I'm pissed off this is scary considering he read the last 4 digits of my social back to me. Next step is to report them. Thanks everyone!

so i just received two miss calls from 714-786-4141 and then the same number called my work.  I answered and he asked if i was brandi and asked for my attorney info because i was being sued. He had a strong accent so it was hard for me to understand him. i said i wasnt releasing anything until i knew who he was and what it was in regards to.  he said i was being sued and a cop would be at my work to serve me.  i said well you should have my home address so why dont you go there.  He hung up on me so i guess i will just have to wait until tomorrow to find out.

I posted about these a**holes last week & they're at it again, this time they called me from 3023394012. Last week I called them so many times they shut the line down or something, the phone wouldn't even ring I would just get dead air. This must stop, this is getting real irritating.

My fiance got a call this morning on his cell at work saying that they deposited 75,000 or 7,500 dollars into his bank account and were trying to receive payments but can't. Funny thing is we just opened his bank account Friday and there's no money in it to begin with & hasn't been any deposited into it. The woman told him if he didn't call her back within 30 mins they were going to supena him and have him arrested. We live on the complete other side of the country that they call from Haha. He gave me the number I called a lawyer but they said there's not really anything to do but watch our bank account & have the number blocks after I Google it (found this page). I called the number back a million times they either hungup,it was not a working number, or I got Jenny smith who wanted mine & my fiances names & numbers,then I got Ronnie cooper who wanted my name and I wouldn't give it to him i asked what company he works for he said cash advance and I flipped told him to stop f****ng scanning people and get a real job he said thanks ma'am and I hung up on him. They harass us I'm gonna harass them. They did this to my mom about 2 yrs ago and she fell for it because they said it was the same as the mortage place for their house and she thought it was real but she got her money back,changed their bank account, & they haven't bothered her since Not going to let it happen to us!!! I received the same call this morning from this company. He told me that he needed to fax documents to my attorney or my place of work. He read me back my social. I asked him what was this in regards to. He told me that I was rude and needed to answer his questions accordingly because I had no idea who I was talking to. I told him to do whatever he thought was necessary because I was going to forward all of my information over to the GA Bureau of Investigation. He hung up on me.When I called back my number is being rejected. I spoke with an attorney and He told me that he will look into the company to find out if its a scam. He said to get on the do not call list, contact your state's attorney general, contact the consumer protection agency for your state, and the Federal Trade Commission. He said even if they are a legitimate company, they are violating amendments concerning your rights on how they are delivering the information. BTW-now when I call the number is not a working number.

this guy has called me 40 times this morning telling me hes going to shoot me rape me and the cops are going to gave to come pick up my body tomorrow at 10. he keeps saying hang up to he can call me back 5000 times. hes very scray and creepy. i dont know if i should be alarmed or what. hes talking about shoving things up my butt and eveything and he tells me how pretty i am and hes watching me, and that hes my biggest fan

Keep getting the same call, started this morning and about 7 more times today...from my understanding in doing collections for a few years...you CANT call more then once a day...

This dude calls me and tells me all this crap about being arrested . That thier coming to get me. So I call back get, get lady name Jenny smith. She was indian . What indiana  person has that name? I think these lazy a** crooks  need a job. It's all a scam.

Some guy called me and left me a very threatning voicemail saying that if i do not call him back that he was goning to have to turn this case over to the FBI.....WTF??? I have not even had any credit accounts with anyone since 2005. Surely this cant be from then, so I would have to believe this must be some sort of scam that scares people into paying them money in fear that they will get arrested. Oh and the guy could barely speak English. He said his name was Jack...yea right?

I took the vm that he left me over to my local sheriffs dept yesterday after I had received the calls and them hanging up on me several times. Sheriff said if they are in the US making these calls that is is illegal and something could be done about it.  The guy I talked to on the phone yesterday told me the FBI would be at my house today before 10 to pick me up and take me to Orange County California for my arraignment, well it's now 1032am and I am still here.  Could have used a nice little vacation though in sunny Orange County :). Just report the calls to your local pd, something will be done.

I woke up this morning to a long voicemail from 714-786-4141 & a foreign man mamed Brian Johnson. I couldn't understand most of what the message said but I did catch "If I or my attorney did not call him back, the only thing he can do is wish me good luck, as the situation unfolds on me. So I called the number back & the same man answered. He told me that a legal suit has been filed against me. He then began reading off my SSN, phone #, address & place of employment. I immediately interrupted him to ask what the lawsuit pertained to, and he stated "Ma'am, if you interrupt me one more time, I will bang the phone into your face & send the police to get you at your job on Monday." My jaw dropped & I was in shock. I started yelling at him for threatening me & he just said "Ok ma'am, fine then just wait for my team." Then hung up on me. I immediately called right back & now the number was out of service. So I had my boyfriend call the same number from his phone & the man answered. I asked who he was & what company be was calling on behalf of & he said that he was an attorney for Cash Advance America. He then asked for my name & phone # and I refused. I told him that I was reporting him & he recognized me as the person he had just talked to. He stated that "I do not know how to talk to attorneys & I will regret this." Yet another threat! I just started slinging every swear word I could at him & he finally got so pissed off that he hung up. I've been trying to call back but can't get through. Something needs to be done about this soon.

Ha these suckas have been calling me for about a week now & yes at my job too WTF. I'm glad my bosses are cool about stuff like this. but i flipped the script on em'. I called them about 10 billion times. I pissed mark or whatever his name is OFF, he is hella mad. I kept calling and laughing & hanging up. I swear I felt like my 14 year old sister but I think I got my point across cause now when I call the number it doesn't even ring. just flip the scipt on them when they know that you know its BS they'll stop

He said his name was Charles White. Called my cell first- I couldn't understand some of what he said on voicemail  but I heard when he said "to protect my credit and safety" I needed to call him and if I did not call then "good luck with what falls on your head." Sounds like threats to me!! I work in the finance business and I have dealt with attorneys before. Bill collectors that are legit do NOT talk to you that way. Apparently he didn't like being ignored. He called my job 9 times in 5 min period after we all (including my boss) told him not to call anymore.  He said he would call me 90 times and kept trying to transfer me to a mgr on his end because he could not tell me what the debt was for. I told him not to bother because I don't have any. He also snapped at me to shut my mouth and kept talking over me. Also kept asking my attorney to contact him. Trying to scam me and he was stupid about it.

at least you folks were only threatened with the sheriff, he told me the FBI would be at my place of employment to pick me up tomorrow. Like everyone else when I started asking questions he would hang up I called back 3 times and he just kept hanging up on me. Then he started calling my work.  

What A Scam!!!!

I just posted about this same guy, but different number:714-786-4236... He has left four messages on my phone saying the exact same thing he said to San Diego Native above... "good luck on what unfolds upon you"!!! He said his name is Mark Watson, but come on... Mark Watson with such a deep Induan accent!? That was a huge red flag for me!!!! Motto mention when I called back with a blocked number, the person picked up and hung up without saying anything!!!

Dont know who this guy is, but when he figured i wasnt a fool he so quickly hung up. But I called back and cussed him out. He said his name was ronnie cooper and was calling in behalf of cash america loans. He said said i had took out a loan for 300.00 but that was lie, cause i never did that. He said i was gonna get arrested if i didnt pay it and that he was gonna be here tomorrow with the sheriff. I told him why wait till tomorrow, im hear all day so come right now, plus how you gonna come tomorrow, if your calling from a Land line phone number dumn a**.  Plus this is an issue for small claims court, he thought he had called someone that was stupid enough to fall for his threats and scare tactics and give away my bank info. THIS IS A SCAM A VERY BIG ONE, SO BE CAREFULL. This happend about 9:40 this morning.

Just got the call. He sounded threatening "all I can tell you is good luck." I honestly couldn't understand any thing else.
