An unsolicitied, unwanted call.

not sure if it was NCO or not I won't answer any call and i let my Fax machine pick it up it seems to have totally stopped 99 percent of the unwanted calls coming to my home.

Stupid call from Dish Network... I have even asked them to take us off their list.

Who owns this number?

We have gotten calls from this number many times. When we answer no one is there. Will not be answering the phone to any of these calls again.

Keep getting phone calls from 714-949-8643.
Sometimes no talks.
Today a man talked and said that he was with Honeywell Home Security systems.
I told him that I already had s system, but he kept insisting that i lessen to his offer.
So I hung up the phone.

Well - 714 is on the move got the 949-8643 number and just got one that said Brea, CA 706-3200.

I heard that one of the things you can do is pick up and hit the 6 or 8 key rapidly and repeatedly. It supposedly sends some kind of signal that takes your number out of the autodialer. i have no proof of this, but it could at least annoy someone enuf to leave you alone.  I like really annoyed's idea. I'll try that next... LOL

I just got this same number. So glad this site exists. Now I know I'm not nuts. Has called several times and not left a message, first time i was home to answer it. I think we should try and sell THEM something. Like, "OH HI! I am so glad you called! Listen, do you have carpeting? I have this amazing vacuum cleaner that gets all the bugs, and ticks, and fleas, and doggie doo out of your carpet. It EVEN will clean up after you lose your cookies. I think it's magic! Can I have your home address? I'll send one of my salespeople over to show you. How's 11 o'clock tonight?"

I have had multiple calls.... didn't answer and they didn't leave a message.  I suspect its an auto dialer trying to identify when I am home so it can relay the info to telemarketers.  Don't Answer unless you want them to call more.

Don't hate the telemarketer, just the job he has to do.  Our pastor's son has that job in the summer and Christmas vacation to put himself through college.
He hates it too, believe me!!  
I especially hate those calls when I'm doing something and have to quit to hurry and answer the phone- - - only to find that it's a telemarketer.     Gr-r-r-r-r-r - -------

Just received call from this number but could not answer in time.   When I tried to call the number back, I received a recording saying I could not reach the number at this time.  I am on the Do Not Call list.  I guess this list doesn't work all that well.

I've heard of Caller ID spoofing, but I had never heard the bit about calling your number to find out when you are home.

Called when I was gone and didn't leave a message.  I guess I'm not good enough for a message!  With the ton on political calls that I have been recieving lately, this one is kind of nice, no one asking me to vote for someone!  If I don't know who it is, and in this case it was "unknown name" let them talk to the machine.  Thank goodness for sites like this, now I WON'T answer the phone when this number 714-949-8643 shows up on my caller id.

Received a call today from this mutt computer. Obviously a telemarketer company trying to find out when you are home. Doesn't leave a message.  Many companies hire  this kind of business to  just  keep calling your  number at different times of day until you pick up. Then it hangs up.  This info is passed on to the company that hired them to find out which time of day you are most likely to be home.

i get the call also and it says; name unavailable.
is it direct TV? our phone has been changed three time just this year cuz of these type of calls.

They call almost every day, wait until the machine picks up and then hang up without leaving a message. Annoying!

Caller identifed herself as a representative for Dish Network. She was offering some special for Dish then the call just abruptly ended. I am also on the do not call list.

Or you could file the lawsuit yourself. It's not that hard. You will need solid evidence to support your claim such as a recording of the call. With this recording you would then transcribe it. Then in your own words in the form of an affidavit you will need to describe what happened. The key here is evidence. Each FDCPA violation is worth $1000. I have one I will be filing for excessive phone calls after their confirmed receipt of my demand to cease calling. I just got the phone call. Don't these people work on commission? How many sales do they actually get if they hang up after 2 rings? I would love it if we could call them back...over and over and over again, just to tie up their phones so they can't bother anyone else.

Received a call from 7149498643. Hung up immediately after I said "hello". Called right back and it said the number is a non-working number. They've obviously spoofed the number. This is now illegal. Truth in Caller ID Act of 2010 says: Under the bill, it becomes illegal "to cause any caller ID service to transmit misleading or inaccurate caller ID information, with the intent to defraud or deceive."

What a nuisance.......

Just received this call a few minutes ago. We have been getting them lately so I wanted to answer to see who it was. It was a woman claiming she was calling on behalf of the dish. I said we were not interested and she got an attitude and said have a nice day. I tried calling the number back and got a recording that said the number could not be completed as dialed. total scam.

I just received a call from this number. It rang and the caller id said something like "Number Not Available". When I picked up after 4 rings, they hung up. I tried calling the number and a phone company recording said "This number is not in service". So then I googled the number and ended up here. Annoying as heck. I agree with what others have said... I don't understand what good the Do Not Call list and law are if this continues to go on. We've gotten other unsolicited calls, particularly from the March of Dimes, and it took 3 times of my asking them to take us off the list before they did so. How annoying.

I have received calls from this number before but have never answered the phone.  Today I did, and this guy started in with this sick and creepy kind of laugh in a low tone.  I immediately hung up.  I will not answer anymore of these calls from this area code or any other area code I am not familiar with.

Make a list of these numbers and keep them by your phone. They are very annoying.
