Debt Collector
I found this thread when I looked up information about this collection agency that was calling my home phone.  I have recently gotten this number (within the last two months), and the automated message was asking for another person who I've never heard of.  Found this forum and thread thanks to Google.  I called the company, gave them my home number, and told them that who ever they were looking for no longer has that number and to please stop calling me.  If they continue to call, I will report to the BBB, and possibly the FBI (as was suggested above).  I know I have debts, but I refuse to be harassed about a debt that isn't mine.  Thank you all for the posts and information that you have left here.

These people are crazy!! They keep calling my home as well, asking for a family member.
Also they "claimed" to have SS information etc on the family member, if that is the case, they can find any one. Usually I do  not answer the phone but today decided to and the message is a recording... Listen and hung up... I intend to file a complaint with FTC immediately.  I strongly believe this is a scam operation. So many collection agencies are abusing their power. If a payday loan is owed, the parent company has it's own set of legal recourse's to collect funds due.
No doubt this is a "company" that has "purchased" debts and are forcing people to pay them or ruin their credit ratings.

These people are "difficult to locate". Just did a google search using their telephone and guess what...
No office or physical address!!! also they can not be founded on the internet!! crazy!! yes indeed, so I will file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in each of the cities within the 716 area code. Yes I have time... They keep calling asking for a family member that has moved over a year ago!!

If this company is a scam operation, please report them to the local authority!! The more complaints the better!
Thank you

I also received a call, did not answer the phone bc didn't know the number! Checked voicemail and there was a lady saying I had a debt that was about to be turned over and filed in the Parish I live in. I do owe a debt to the ppl they stated, but no way do I owe that much! They knew my ss number address and everything. Very weird! Then the lady proceeded to tell me that my credit score was higher than I know it is. Anyways, she told me of two arrangements I could make.. Obviously I don't have that kind of money, then a Greg Stanzel got on the phone, being rather rude and cocky about the matter..saying that if I didn't give him info at the time we were speaking, he couldn't do anything but turn the matter over to sue me. If what everyone else is saying is true, then they have obviously gotten better at what they do. I was very weary of giving my information and wanted to call back at a later time(after I decided what I was gonna do) but they guy said if I didn't do it at that time, then I couldn't. And proceded to ask where I was going to be working at. I hung up.

Caller left a voicemail stating they have a judgement pending against me. Wanted me or my attorney to return the call before my case is turned over to law enforcement in my country. I have no outstanding debt. I am, of course bothered about such calls. However, none of my credit reports show any strange charges.

They can threaten to sue, as long as they follow through with it. If they threaten, but have no intentions of following through, that is a violation of the FDCPA.

Some woman called from (716) 200-4705 claiming to make payment arrangements with me for a payday loan.  They claim that I had taken aloan out several months ago and that I closed my account purposely.  I explained that my account was closed because my automobile was broken into so I had to cease all direct deposits to the account and change the number.  The theives stole my bank statements from the glove compartment.  I have the police report so this can be verified.  The proceeded to tell me that my account could be placed with the legal department for bank fraud........ect.  I told them the story and made arrangements to pay off the 300 loan. I've paid 292.50 so far but was on disability due to surgery so I was uable to pay the remaining 30 dollar balance.  They attached a whole lot of fees and said the amount owed now is 217 instead of 30 and that I have to make arrangements.  I told them that it was impossible for me to pay since i'm on disability and the fees were ridiculous.  The woman hung up and threateden to send the file to the legal department for legal action.  They are a rip off because they tried to attached almost 200 dollars in fees for a 300 loan.  I'm reporting them to the FTC and I have the date and time of my police report should they even think about coming after me with any bogus threats.  i live in new york so I will file a complaint with the FTC because I was willing to pay them the remaining 30 dollars.  I've already paided 292.50 because they threatened to file false charges against me.  I cant have this type of situation on my job.

These people are like misquitos. They left a message on my boss's voicemail: "this is Mr. (couldn't understand) from the (couldn't understand) law firm calling for (stated my name) in regards to a time sensitive matter. Please call back within 48 hours at 1-855-350-5497 in regards to reference #496662."

I wasn't told that I was being served (YET) but it was made to sound very official. I tried using a pre-paid desposible cell phone to contact them back at the call back number, and while listing there was nothing. no ringing, no answer, just silence, then there were a few enaudiable words that sounded like a bad connection, then silence.

I am not glad to see that this has happened to other people, but I am glad that every one has been able to post their situations to help others from getting ripped off by these people. I know I have debt. And I have been served once but it was by a city marshall, not some A-hole on a telephone.

I received a call today from 716-200-4705. Mr. Defrane from IAG Firm.  There is a civil matter in New York against me.  I live in TX. Gave me a case #.  Told me to call back today or I will be served. Call back #855-350-5497. I looked up the phone number and its a personal house number (googled the address and its some shack).  The number belongs to Andrea Tills 20 Matejko St.  Buffalo NY.  And yes, I am putting her address out there. They have also called 2 of my relatives from the same number with the same message.  I will be contacting the FTC.

Do not engage in conversation with them.  It's a scam.  Have you ever applied online for a payday loan?  People like this get that information and bully you.  Ask for it in writing by certified mail.  It's the law!

There must be a group of these idiot collection agencies in Buffalo NY that are buddies with each other. When you send one company a do not contact letter you start getting calls from another company in the same area. The bad part is they try to contact everyone I ever knew, but not me, even though they say they cant get in touch with me,  I have had the same address and phone # for 15 years. These people @ IAG are scum . I guess once they get a do not contact letter they will pass this bogus account to the next blood sucker down the line..  This should not be allowed to happen,,either sue me or quit bothering people

We got scammed and they are back at it again. I felt so stupid after the fact, but I am a grandma raising my granddaughter, and when they told me they were going to serve me with a warrant, I freaked out. I thought I was going to have a heart attack, and I felt like I couldn't breathe. (My feeling is, they ARE going to make someone sick, or have a heart attack or stroke some day by scaring them.)
My husband finally took over and handled it, but we stupidly paid them $375 a month -- yes we did. We got an email from them which we still have, outlining the payment but not the actual proof of a bill owed. I have learned ALOT since then, and I sure don't mind telling our story if it helps someone else.

In case ANYone out there needs an address on them to file a complaint, this is from their email letterhead:

I got the exact same message from that same person too. They just scammed us out of over $1000 by scaring the crap out of me thinking I was about to be served with a warrant in court. I thought I was going to have a heart attack, and my husband had to step in and take care of it. Now, they have our personal info, and this Kristen person is calling us again, about another bill.

I was scammed. Even if you don't pay these loans, the original creditor does not even have your account after a certain amount of time. I had to learn the hard way.

I did have a payday loan, and these people are third party collectors who buy your information for pennies on the dollar. The original creditor doesn't even have your account anymore. Apparently the best way to get these people off your back is to ignore their calls. If they insist on calling you, tell them that you need for them to send you something in writing showing proof of the debt. My attorneys informed me that they have to send you something in writing. Don't make any arrangements through the phone until you get this information. I was foolish but am now getting a handle on these people. Mr. Steve Boyd sure is a popular fellow on this site. This is the man who called me. I have since stopped every payment. Thanks for everyone's post. Now i am a little smarter about which payday loan places are legitimate and who is not.

The guy that called me was Michael Hall, a total butt. He would barely let me get a word in Vann we argued the entire call. He finally says I feel soorry for what is going to happen to you. Then the next day a guy name Chris lea es a message saying I was going to be served at my home and I needed to be there with I.D. or they would serve it to my supervisors at work. I was do nervous. I never k ew about these kinds of tactics until I googled the company and see that I'm not the only one who has experienced this. Do they really serve you. The guy Chris called from a local # and when I tried to call him back the # was disconnected.???

Apparently, i have been fooled. This guy called my father and said that they were going to sue me. So my dad called me and i foolishly made payment arrangements. Fortunatley, i have pre-paid legal services and have been informed about these scammers. Of course, i cannot get the money back that i gave them, but at least i will not have to pay the rest and have since closed the pre-paid card they were taking money from. Thanks for everyone's post. I am finally getting a handle on all these scammers.
