Blocked call from heavy indian accent.  Claimed to be from NGT "National Gifting Center"  He claimed that we had filled out a ballot.  I told him I had not filled out anything and I was not interested.  He was very difficult to understand and there was a significant delay in the call (indicating satelite).  He finally hung up after 5 minutes of making him say thing over and over again.

This definitely seems like the callers themselves, trying to trick more people into their scam, by posting positive experiences on this website. Beware!

Thank you Andy and everyone else who posted about National Gifting Center. I got a call yesterday from "Angel" who had a very heavy accent and was difficult to understand. He said I had filled out a form at .....mumble mumble... which I didn't remember doing, but I do sometimes enter contests, so....  I listened to about 15 minutes of description and assurances that the prizes (roundtrip air for two anywhere in the US, two nights in hotel of choice, good for one year) were all prepaid by sponsors Ramada, Toshiba, and American Airlines. They were doing this for advertising purposes and what they asked in return is that we would refer friends and contacts to these companies. There would be no fees or costs to us.

I sort of agreed to go at 4:45 pm today at an address in Portland, ME about 20-30 minutes from my home. Same deal as others reported about needing 2 pieces of ID, filling out gift claim form, claim number given, husband had to come too, refreshments and "gifting ceremony." However, today I searched the internet and found all of these postings and reminded myself that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't true.

Today I talked to "Angel" and told him we weren't coming. When he tried to set up another day etc I told him I had read unfavorable reports about the offer on the internet. He hung up. I feel very relieved not to have wasted our time on some scheme we would never have signed up to participate in anyway. Thanks again!

I'm in Houston and he said he was calling from Houston the first time.  After several questions I got the name of Destiny Vacations so I figured we would have to hear a travel club spiel before we got the promised prize which was a 52 inch LG HDTV or a Caribbean cruise.  I said I'll take the tv he said sure no problem. He further stated we would see the gifts on the left when we got there and there would be a complimentary chicken dinner.  (In other words he kept digging a bigger hole)  We decided to go.  When we got there they never asked us for our confirmation codes which were very important according to the phone guy.  We were ushered into a room with about 12 couples each sitting at a round table and assigned one salesman to talk with each couple.  Some had been told 20 mins, some 10 mins.  When we got there they said 90 mins.  But the main guy promised he could do a presentation in 35 minutes to all of us.  It was entertaining. However, the deal was, for $9,000 you could become a member of ResortOne and buy wholesale travel for the rest of your life and if you signed today all your family and friends could too and you could even put the membership in your will. yadayadayada. The promise is that you will then buy travel and cruises wholesale for the rest of  your life and more than compensate for the one time $9,000 plus a $299 registration fee and a $179 yearly maintenance fee.  Our guy looked like "Guido" Striped shirt, cufflinks, Doublebreasted suit, the whole bit.  When we said we would have to check them out that we were not going to commit that kind of money up front without some research  and that when I checked out Destiny vacations, prior to coming, it was not accredited by the BBB and in fact was an F.  "Guido" asked what would I need to check them out and I said a computer and he said fine I'll let you use my lap top. I said O.K. We were ushered into another room where the "manager" talked to us and had a story of how the BBB was started by the Mafia in Chicago and if he wanted an "A" rating all he would have to do is pay the BBB money to join.  I never saw the lap top and was given a scratch off deal and won a Cruise.  But I would have to pay to a process fee plus all the port fees etc. and a $50 non-refundable reservation fee.  But travel times could not be guaranteed during peak use and we got an inside cabin by the bulkhead which could be upgraded for a fee.  "Guido" didn't know of any TV's and of course there was no chicken dinner.  Didn't even smell any chicken but I do smell a RAT.
Two hours later I got a call from the same Indian guy saying he was just down the street checking out how things went.  Then he couldn't give me a valid Houston address as I checked each address on-line as he gave it to me.  He wanted the voucher# on the cruise coupon so he could register my complaints.  I said no.  Two days later (today) I have now had 3-4 phone calls trying to get the same voucher number (I finally gave them the one they gave me to go in the first place)  I assume they use those numbers to get paid for the ones they called that showed up.  If they had the voucher number from the cruise coupon they could then book the cruise and then sell it at a mark-up etc. (Which Guido told me we could do with our travel membership also.  Book travel for friends at our cost and then mark it up for them)  I've written down the numbers as the calls came in and traced one to Merced CA. I'm waiting on a reverse number check to see who it is registered too.  When he called from that number he said he was in Roundhill VA.  At first they told me they were the National Souvenir Center and I couldn't find anything on them except a company out of Korea.  Today they said National Gifting Center and that is when I found this website.  The old saying comes to mind.  What tangled web we weave when we first attempt to deceive.
I checked ResortOne on-line and found a pretty website but you have to be a member to log-on.  There was no contact information including phone number or address.  Destiny Vacations is supposed to be the only authorized Franchise in Houston for ResortOne.  I have a feeling this web is bigger then even I'm seeing.

I received a repeated phone call from an "unknown" number stating that they were from the "National Gifting Center." (This call came in twice before i answered and then once more after my situation.. of which the last time the guy hung up after telling me the name of the company.) The guy had a very thick Indian accent. When I told the guy that it was hard to understand him and asked him to speak English, he then went on to attack my last name (Morgan-Zickefoose) stating that I wasn't American and saying that no American knows how to speak English. Then he started bashing Americans. Once this started I asked him again what company he was with and then he started telling me he was from "My Life Insurance." The man was very rude and I truly hope it was recorded.

The same thing happened here too. A guy with a very hard to understand accent called our house on Nov. 21st. He asked for Mrs. (my husband's last name) and said that I had filled out a "coupon" when I was at Wal-mart on June 17th. First of all, I didn't change my name when I got married, second, it's called a "ballot" not a "coupon" and third, there is no way that I was at Wal-mart that day. He said he was from the National Gifting Centre. Anyway, he started to ask me to confirm my address, and that's when I hung-up. He then called again today and tried again, I asked him to speak with my husband since I really couldn't understand a word that he was saying, his English was TERRIBLE!!
Now that I see that other people have been through the same BS, were are going to notify the RCMP's PhoneBusters. And if he calls again, I am going to tell him just to mail my prize, since he apparently has my address, oh, and I am going to tell him that I have contacted the RCMP.

Just got a call in Toronto. Did a quick google whilst on the phone to the South Asian sounding man. Then pressed him on the number of Rip Off scam reports there was about National Gifting Center on the web. Also told him I was a journalist with the Toronto Sun and asked for a comment.

Strange, the call ended.

He said he got my details from a form I had filled out in September at Walmart in Canada. Never been to a Walmart.

I just received a call from them as well with basically the same thick indian accent and everything. I happened to record the call while I messed around with him and accused him of being a scam. I also told him I researched his company online and found out it was a scam. It's pretty funny actually. If people are interested I might be able to upload the audio clip.

I got the call also. It was hard to understand the first guy, so he put his supervisor on the phone.  He said it was a dinner and that I would be listening to a 60 minute presentation.  I needed to come with my spouse.  We went and spent a delightful visit with a nice young man.  He told me about the timeshare and it was very informative.  I told him that I already had a great program with Geo Holiday and  did not want another.  They thanked me for coming and gave me a gift of a trip for two with air included to Florida.  We had a great time.  So all of you closed minded people who think you are smart by being a jerk to these people.  I have a great tan and had a super long weekend.  LOL.....

I got a call a few minutes ago, from this compay (The National Gifting Centre) located at 216 Chrislea Rd., 2nd Floor, Suite 202, Woodbridge, ON.  They said they are a US-based company carrying names such Toshiba Electronics, Walmart and that I won one of the five prizes which I can claim at a pre-arranged time and day.  As I don't really believe these kind of calls, I started asking about the NGC website.  And when I was passed on to the supervisor whose name is Sam?? and told him that I need to check their company at the Better Business Bureau, he hang up on me.  The first guy whom I spoke to gave me his name as Michael Hamilton (thick Indian accent) and even game me his number (416) 628-9766 which is not working at all.
I just answered my phone while I was doing this, and it was the same guy.  He said that we got disconnected and he wanted to give me a "secret" code so I can claim my prize.  I told him that I know it's just a scam and never to call me again.

Got a call last night from the National Gifting Centre.  My experience is the same as other comments written here.  The call back number was 716-240-2797 and the contact was "Mike Jones" at extension 231. I had to book an appointment at the local address (Hwy 7 & Weston Rd. Toronto) to go through a gifting ceremony to draw one of 5 prizes ($1000 cash, 60" Plasma or three different vacations). Was told taht I filled in a ballot around Christmas time last year at Wal-Mart, Zellers, Zehrs, or other "similar retailer." I don't usually fill those ballots. I got a claim number and booked an appointment but now that I see what's written here, I'm staying clear of it.  A free vacation would be nice but not with strings attached!

My boyfriend and I live in Toronto, Ontario, in Canada. We received a call from NGC and a man with an Indian accent named "Frank". His first error was asking for Mrs. Chappell. My boyfriend and I co-habitate but we are not legally married. If I filled out a form it would be in my own name. His second mistake was quoting our address. It was only partially correct. We live in a house that has been converted into apartments. He couldn't provide an apartment number for us. When I explained to him that I would never fill out an application as Mrs. Chappell, he asked for my real name. I didn't provide it. Then I handed over the phone to my boyfriend, who gets a kick out of stringing along scam artists... without providing any info of course. I've been a Private Investigator for the past seven years. I know when someone is fishing for information. It may be that all this guy is trying to acquire is personal information, i.e. full addresses, names, driver's license no.s, etc, for other nefarious reasons. Please be careful with this guy.

my cousin who lives in Houston was called last month & he went to a gifting presentation with his gf and I think he did win a $2500 cash! But i think the reason they called him is to give him a brief detail on their sponsors. But, I don't think its a scam. These guys are probably getting paid of calling us though! We should go and try out our luck at least once!

I just got the third call in less than a month. My phone number is listed under my wife's maiden name, so telemarketers who call from the book are pretty easy to spot. Caller had an East Indian accent but I don't recall his name. He said I (or my wife) filled out a ballot in December (I don't remember the date he said). I pressed for more info, specifically asking if he had my ballot handy. He said he had it with him. I called out his lie, since we would not fill out ballots under the maiden name. He refused to let me speak to his supervisor. He refused also to identify himself when asked (illegal under Canadian law). When I continued to press for honest information, he said that he has my name, number and address and will make a complaint with the police if I continue to speak rudely with him. I'm looking forward to that call, which I know will never come.

I got a call from NGC telling my father that he won a prize of some sort. I said he didn't enter any contest or ballot; i know that b/c he doesn't speak English. I swear! Why they hire ppl with strong accent on the phone. I don't understand a thing they're saying. I basically told him: "you guys are scam artist and i am gonna report you to the police" and he hung up.

I received a very similar call today.  I am in TX, and the guy (with a thick Indian accent) stated he was in Michigan.  He told me that either myself or my husband filled out a form on December 18.  I know this is not true because we never fill out these types of forms.  The first guy transferred me to his "supervisor".  I knew from the beginning this was going to be some "promo" thing where they want you to sit in a vacation timeshare meeting.  The "supervisor" confirmed that this was such a meeting.  Anyway....  After asking for a phone number he gave me 877-204-9750 (which is disconnected).  I did not listen long enough to get the local address to go hear their "talk", as I have no intention of joining a timeshare.  My husband and I attended a very similar presentaiton in Las Vegas with the promise of free show tickets.  If you go, be prepared for a VERY high pressure sales presentation and you may or may not get the "prizes" promised to you.  Good luck!

I got this call just today, kinda laughed and lied my way through it (I'm not 30, nor married)  Anyways, same old same old as above, but I was offered a golf package. fancy! At anyrate, the address  and phone are great, cause they kept saying they were members of the better business buearu, and I'm pretty sure they're not.  So I am calling them and filing a complaint. I gotta say, they do think Canadians are stupid!  When he said "let me make a reservation" I just hung up

I live just north of Toronto. Call received on Jan 21st. Initial caller had a heavy Indian accent - so much so that I could not understand him at all. I was quickly passed on to his supervisor who was also Indian but who spoke understandable English and provided me with a Caucasian name that I don't remember. I was told that I had entered by filling out a ballot (I never ever do that). Wanted to know my wife's name and whether I was in a certain age group (less than 70) and income over 50k. Promised one of 5 "free" gifts (same as listed by Avi above + one other of $1,000) if I went to the National Gifting Centre, 216 Chrislea Rd., 2nd floor Suite, 202, Woodbridge, ON L4L 8S5. Said that I would have to make an appointment and would receive a meal.
My suspicions were immediately confirmed that I was dealing with someone hawking timeshares (been there - done that). I hung up. He called right back but I did not take the call. I believe that the call originated in Grand Rapids, Michigan (area code 616).

I just got my call. Like everyone else, it was a guy with an indian accent. Said he was with NGC and was calling behalf of TVS. Said I had the won the chance to be entered into a draw for:

60" Plasma,
Trip to Orlando Florida
Cancun Mexico,
8 days Royal Caribbean  Cruise

Of which I would be guaranteed to win one of these things. He said they were registered with the National Lottery Commission.

He told me he would be needing some information such as my driver's license or health card number. When I told him I didn't want to give it over the phone, his story changed and said I would need it when I came to collect my prize because 2 days someone without ID got a prize when he wasn't supposed to. Told him while we were talking I was looking up all the info he was giving me online and told him I was no longer interested. He asked me to talk to his manager.

Manager with an european/north american name (can't remember) with a very mild indian accent came on the line. He tried to explain to be, but I was already ready to pounce. I asked him if he was indian...he said no....then he said his mother is and he is american. I told him I wasn't interested.

He then tried to explain again and said that it was for couples between the ages of 30-60 years old and making $50,000 plus. I told him I did not meet either qualification, of which he sounded very surprised. He then said I could fill out the saying saying that I did. I told him that would be illegal by National Lottery Commission standards. He then thank you for your time and hung up.

Chris, you intended to "go see them" - did you?  Could you tell me what it was like?  I got "the call" and am immensely curious to find out for sure what it's all about.  Strange thing is that everybody reports the calls but how do we all know it is in fact a scam?  I'd like to hear from somebody who went to one of these sessions and would really really appreciate to get your report -- a report from a person who was sceptical, initally.

I got a call this morning - December 14, 2007 - from the National Gifting Center.  They asked me to verify my phone number (it was my toronto area mobile) which I did, foolishly, and then the accented fellow on the phone said "This is the National Gifting Center calling to verify your information...".  I asked him, "What is this regarding?" and then he hung up.

What is very interesting here, is that I ALSO received a call on October 31, 2007 about a Ramada prize that I had won (much like someone else higher up in this thread!).  I am, like most of you, from Toronto.  The fellows who called me in October had me on the phone for 15 mins trying to get me to pay $800 immediately for a 4 person weeklong cruise that started in Florida and went to the Carribean, with some nights at a Ramada thrown in.  Of course, I was going to have none of it.

One more wrinkle in this sordid tale:  The first phone call I received had me going, because they (correctly) identified that I filled out a ballot for a free vacation at the Runners' Expo for the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon.  Did anyone else attend this expo?  Thanks to all for posting about this.
