they call at random times through out the day. i never answer cause if it was important they'd leave a message. don't know how they have my number or why they're calling me.

This is a collection agency for credit cards in default/written off or delinquent. The name of the company is "Advanced Credit Recovery". They also use the numbers 716.205.3278 and 877.858.9985.  Plug these numbers into your contacts and monitor their calls. Once you send them a cease & desist letter, they have to stop calling you.  Be careful though because this will basically give them the green light to take legal action.  They will get a judgement against your home or force you to sell any substancial assets or garnish your wages.  There are 4 states (including SC) that do not allow for wage or bank garnishment.

This (1 716 205 3273) phone number calls me daily asking for my boyfriend's step father. Either I or my boyfriend responds by explaining that we don't have contact with him. After that the callers become very hostile accusing us of lying. Today I asked to speak to the supervisor and explained that if the calls did not stop I would consider it harassment. She told me to get in contact with my boyfriend's step father and hung up on me. She would not give me her name, the name of the company or the reason she is calling. I called the local police department and reported their harassment. If they call again I am going to put them on speaker phone and record the call with my digital camera. If the calls continue I will sue them for harassment. I urge everyone to do the same.

Getting numerous calls from (716)205-3273. An automated voice says ARC has an urgent matter to discuss with my friend (they gave his first and last name) and to either press a button to speak to someone or to call back at 877-858-9984 and use reference number ###### which was spoken very quickly and in such a way as to be difficult to catch. I've gotten the call so many times I've been ready with pen and paper to catch it all. The friend in question has no debt, and this is happening to several people. Debt collectors are required by law to tell you immediately that 'this is an attempt to collect a debt'. There is something wrong here.

I get called by this number at least a dozen times each and every week, including Sundays. It is always a recording telling I need to call them back about "an important potentially legal matter". I never do. I have no idea who they are or what they want. I figure if they werre a legitimate collection agency they would leave some sort of message. It is possible I owe someone something from sometime, but unless you actually tell me what you want I am not responding. I have assigned a special ring on my cell phone for this number so I don't even look when I hear the ring. I know it's them.

A lot of people have been getting these calls recently, but not everyone's getting the same message. Most of us are being called by a machine though. If you were called by this number and they wanted your social sec. #, I'm thinking it must be a scam of some sorts.

I got calls from this number from a machine asking for a name that is not my own to share personal information with me.

This number has been calling me at least twice a day for the last 30-40 days. The number came up with an unknown name on the caller ID.  I have a private number so I didn't answer it until today. The lady asked for me, however would not tell me anything about what type of company it was other than ACF recovery. I asked her what type of company it was and why they were calling me. She was down right rude and only wanted my phone number and social security number to verify some account. I became very angry for wanting my SS#. I told her she was the one calling me on a daily basis and didn't need my phone number again. It should be up to her to explain who she worked for and why she was calling me. I didn't understand how they were able to get my name associated to the number she was calling since the phone is unlisted and is in my sister's name. My sister has an entirely different last name and pays for an unlisted phone number. I ended up hanging up on this lady since we were both very angry and yelling at each other.
