Debt Collector
*Impersonating a gov't official or threatening to have you arrested is a serious offense*

This man using the name Joe Lane or Joseph Lane has violated many FDCPA laws and regulations, including but not limited to:

-Contacting family members repeatedly, revealing personal information to them, telling them I will be arrested for fraud, and also not honoring their requests for him not to call again
-Verbal harrassment (personal insults, threats)
-Refusing to provide company name/address
-Not honoring a request for written correspondence
-Not honoring a 'do not disturb' at work request
-Refusing to validate the 'debt' he was/is trying to collect

First of all, when asked for his company name and address, Joe Lane refused to give them to me and said unless I give him my credit card or bank account information over the phone he would not fax or mail me correspondence regarding the debt in question or give his company name or address. He's been calling my place of employment 3-4 times per day, and when I asked Joe Lane to be contacted in writing Joe Lane said no, he will continue calling my work. Joe Lane then hung up on me, and then called back within 10 minutes later to make it clear he was not honoring my verbal request for written correspondence.

I told him that I've never owned a credit card and I would like to see what documents on he has regarding the debt. Joe Lane then began threatening to call my family, my job, recited my social security number, told me that my parents raised a coward and told me that I wasn't a man unless I agreed to pay this mystery debt.

I hung up on Joe Lane and apologized to my employer. I spoke with my father and it appears Joe Lane called him and told him I had committed fraud, and would go to jail unless he gave Joe Lane his credit card over the phone. Luckily he had not done so. I had to calm him down and explain what this con artist/collections agent is trying to do.

I have filed complaints with the attorney general (NAAG.org), the FTC (ftccomplaintassistant.gov), and the CFPB (consumerfinance.gov), and also the local police department in Tonawanda, NY (716) 692-2121. I suggest if he is harassing you or anyone you care about, you should report him as well.

He uses the following phone numbers:

(716) 504-6907
(716) 418-7211
(716) 200-4491
(716) 200-4723
(716) 218-1908
(855) 255-0448
(855) 267-9155
(866) 420-4441

He will be judged for his violations soon. The more of us that report him the faster this will end.

At least some of what this"Mr. Roberts" told you is an outright lie: You cannot be thrown into jail for debt. There is no such government agency as the "Warrant Service Agency". With these two lies (and for all I know, everything he told you could have been a lie) he violated federal law and revealed himself to be a scam artist, not a debt collector.

The question is: Did you ever take out the loan they claim you did? If not, the whole thing's a gigantic fraud.

If you did take out such a loan the people you owe are required by law to validate the debt IN WRITING. They have to prove you owe the money and ? and this part is crucial ? they have to prove you owe it to THEM. (It would really suck if you owed money and paid off some con man instead of the person/company you really owed it to, wouldn't it?)

I received a call from "WSA" ( Warrant Service Agency" a guy there, Mr. Roberts said that I owed Ace Express $1700 and if I didn't pay today the amount would go up to $5000. and they would serve a Warrant on me, have me locked up and make me go before a judge before I could bail out. I started questioning him and he accused me of being combative and hung up on me. He further stated that he was a Gov. Agency and the payday loan people were also a Gov. Agency and had me on a camera making this transaction.

I called Ace Express and they said they had sold my account to another Company, United Debt Holdings, I called them and they said they had sold my account to Huntington Debt Holdings. I called Huntington and all I get is voice mail every where I turn. If anyone knows the facts and or the truth please let me know.

Ask for phone numbers to the place you owe the debt.  Call that place and see if the debt is still owed, then ask that company who you can call to pay this debt, and chances are - if they dont lead you to the agency that called you, they are a scam.

FOLLOW-UP:  Thursday came and went, then Friday, then Monday and Tuesday.  No one served me anything.  Again, if someone is threatening to sue, one must seriously consider consulting an attorney (if even Legal Aid).

Please remember, that posters here are no more trustworthy than the callers themselves -- myself included, so please double check my work.  Certainly consider contacting a lawyer if you believe you're about to be sued -- everything you say WILL be used against you, in the least flattering way possible.

I got to this post from another number who called me (716-332-6650), and gave me a "Claimant's Office" to speak with (877-344-9926).  When I called the (716) number back a third time, I got John Robinson -- the female voice leading the message intro the two times before identified the number as "The Office of John Robinson."

I asked Mr. Robinson if he was a lawyer, he said "no."  He identified the office as "Huntington Debt Holdings."  That's what led me here.

What made me obsessed enough to link these disparate 877 numbers, though, is that the original caller ("Roger Stevens") opened the call (message) by talking to my dead father's childhood nickname, then correcting himself to Dad's adult nickname.

So, I will see if these cats really do serve papers.  I'm suspecting not.

I called back and this is a legitimate company Huntington Debt Holdings which is a litigator of debt so if they are calling you I suggest you call them back.

When I had my issues with credit cards I worked out settlements all at low rates.  I settled the debts and now I have a mortgage and a good credit score.

Just got a call from a real JERK, "Dave Stegall", from this number. Wanting personal information on people and saying he is with a law firm. He threatened me and said that if he did not receive a phone call back from us within 30 minutes, that he was calling to file a formal complaint against us, with our corporate office.

Another one of the girls here got ythe same call, same guy (he was stupid enough to leave a message on her voicemail) and said his name was "Steve Segall".

He was VERY RUDE!!!!!!!

[removed:lang]

Watch out....there are MAJOR SCAMS with people trying to obtain your personal information, by scaring you into thinking you owe them money. They will threaten you with warrants for your arrest and so forth!!
