this number calls about 6 times every day

Call repeatedly. This is a new number and I guess they are calling for the person that had it before. Called them back and they say my number is no longer in their system but their auto-dialer keeps  calling back. They said the company was NR Gourp which is located in a suburb of Buffalo, NY.

This number has just begun to call.  This is a business they are calling and apparently looking for someone who supplied our number (lucky us) They say they are not a collections agency but a law firm looking for a client?  Sounds to me like a collections agency.  I let them know now to call back and that if they are trying to collect a debt that it is illegal for them to call here.  (in our state it is illegal to contact an employer to collect a debt on an employee) We'll see if they continue to call.

A Very rude lady called requesting Employee Verification. I let HR know and they said the form was not signed and that it is an actual collector trying to track down one of the employees.

From other postings, it seems that National Recovery Group or NR Group has changed their name to "The Law Office of Scott Wheat," in what may be an attempt to trick people into believing that the people placing the calls are lawyers, which would be a serious FDCPA violation.  In various 800notes postings, people have stated than these debt collectors announce that they are calling "from the Law Office of Scott Wheat."  This may falsely implies they are lawyers or that perhaps they are working for a lawyer.  When questioned whether they were an attorney or not, they have referred to themselves as "litigators."  This may falsely implies that they are someone who practices law.

It appears that NR Group or National Recovery Group may have reincorporated themselves once again.  If it's like their last three re-births, they are running from lawsuits by changing their name.

I hope to raise this issue when I next meet with the New York AG.

Anybody know why NR Group, the worst of the worst, now seems to be off the radar.  CBS did a news report them, so may that has had an effect?  Have they closed up shop? Changed their name? Or have they cleaned up their illegal act?

I got a call from a rep at Bronson & Migliaccio in Buffalo, NY who said I owed a debt from HSBC.  He was very polite and said he wanted get in touch with me to give his recommendation to the client or attorney or whoever.  I told him I do nothing w/o proof.  He went around for a bit and he got my new address and said he would send me a letter.  A couple days after that sure enough i did recieve this letter stating a debt I had with Best Buy.  The gentelman was real polite and tried to get me the best "deal" he could.  After I talked to him two times he finally put me on with a manager and we worked a one-time settlement which was pretty fair.  Needless to say not all these agencies are bad the two people I talk to were fairly nice and only put a little pressure on me (and it worked cause I did pay them).  He also told me to call him in a couple weeks to make sure I got my paid off letter which.  I just called the rep back and he said it will b there in a couple days...and it was!  At least some of these companies know how to conduct buisness

Called numerous times between 9am - 9pm but did not answer due to caller ID. Then they called at 5:43am one morning! I answered because they jolted me out of my sleep! I didn't even look at the caller ID because I thought there was an emergency. They asked for someone who has never lived at my home and who I haven't spoken to in 3 years!!! Calling anyone at 5:43am in the morning is reprehensible and they should be prosecuted.

Contact the NY State Attorney General Cuomo-  he just closed several Buffalo NY collection agencies for major FDCPA violations.  
Impersonating Police, Threatening arrests.  Owner was arrested!  


This company was not one of the ones closed, so unless you report them -they cannot be closed.

There real Name is "NRGoup or NRG & Associates" address "305 Cayuga Rd Ste 100, Cheektowaga, NY 14225" They will try to fool you by giving you a phoney Fax number like "1-716-565-0479" Only to find it is not connected.
There real FAx is "716-565-3111" which is also really known as the "UPS Store" Phone is "1-877-847-6681, 716-362-4898 or 716-362-4891"
You are allowed to ask for simple info, I strongly suggest you respond by cerified Mail,and request reciept. I personally Have been ripped off paid thousands of dollars, only to have to place a police report, in my local
Area and With different goverment offices, including  my State Attorney General, NEVER PAY A DIME TO ANYBODY UNLESS THE REQUST IS REAL AND WRITTEN! No writing of conditions or agreement and they can say what ever they want even if the debt is real, and you intend to pay. They can state you never did or what ever suits them in a court of law. they call me from 716-362-4891 or 713-893-7051.They call me 5-6 times within 2 hours no one leave message.I call back 3 times but always call fail. Once time I pick up phone , automatic system turned on: If u name  press 1, If u not name press 2.I press 2.Afterthat, they still call me( like harassment).I think they  are collection agentcy, the way they work so stupid.I recomment guy register do not call with government and also record turn on when u pick up phone.

They have so many people working there. It sounds more like a call center when you call in their office. You can here chatting and typing. What kind of a law office is that.
They might be giving false names too. As far as I know I'm probably talking to a representative whose destination is in China=) ( I heard labor is cheap there)

Here are some things that may be helpful.

1.First, They will call you every single day. Remember these people are highly trained motivated individuals who are very aggresive and hungry for commission.

2. It is highly possible that they file a lawsuit against you. You will received a letter(summon) with date and location in your county. Please do show up it is very important that you do or it is also possible that you may get "DEFAULT JUDGEMENT" you donot want that especially if you want to explain yourself. And this is also important to show up to show that you are not turning your back on this debt.

3.Here are the things they may also do.

A. Garnish your wages- Remember they can garnish you of up to 25% per paycheck. If you loss your job like thousands of people did then they have no wages to garnish.

B.They may take actions with your bank to freeze your account until everything is paid off. If you have no money in your bank like me then you have nothing to worry about.

C. If you own any properties like car and a home then they make take actions regarding that also. If you don't own your car yet or a home then that is also not in their option.

Protect yourself against this hounds. Save all harrassing messages from them especially when they get very aggressive and threatens you.

I'm pretty sure they have a caller I.D. so they know who it is before they answer the phone. You cannot block ur number when their 1-800 number.

When ask what company they will tell you nothing but that they work for lawyers. They wouldn't even say the name of the lawyers.(WHICH IS ILLEGAL). Look up any law book and they will tell you that it is consumer rights to find out who or what they are getting called for.

How do this collectors sleep at night. They try to intimidate you over the phone. THey mock you and judge you but they think they are just doing their job.

If you want to take responsibility with your bill but just got delayed due to financial problems then you have nothing to be scared about. You know you are not turning your back on this responsibility.

I want everyone to know that they buy your credit for half the money you owe. Let's say you owe $10,000 they probably bought that from your original creditor for only $4000.oo even lower. If you owe $10,000 they will probably cut you a deal on the phone telling you that if you pay them $6000.00 now then they will forget the $4000.00 balance. But we all know they already made a profit of $2000.00.

We all live in the same country. I wonder if they knew that people unexpectedly loss their job and with a heavy heart and untentionally won't be able to make ends meet.

First Step, the phone call will start if you owe money on a credit card like  WAMU.

What's weird is that I had my credit card since year 2000. They were PVNP back then. I've never been late with my payment. I remember Providian became WAMU about 3 years ago. Around 2008 my hours from work got cut so is my bf's paycheck. We tried budgeting the check book and pay all bills like any responsible person would do but it's still not enough. For the first time in 8 years  we were late on our payment on this credit card.  In the middle of the May I didn't had no choice but to stop my payments " TEMPORARILY" until I get a second job. Believe it or not but I was looking at my inbox and I submitted over 50 resumes for the last 8 months. A few weeks ago I started getting this messages from NATIONAL RECOVERY GROUP telling me that I should call them or my legal representative. I called WAMU (which is now CHASE) and ask for a payment arrangement. They said I couldn't because they sent me to their collection department which is RIVERWALK WITHHOLDINGS. When I called Riverwalk Withholdings they ask me to call K.B. Merrill Associates. WHen I called K.B.M.A. they ask me to call NRG (National Recovery Group). I called NRG and ask for a payment arrangement. I remember that the balance on my credit card is $7500 but with allthe interestit is now $10,500. I am more than willing to take my responsibility as long as I can afford it. I offered a $500.00 down payment and a monthly payment of $500.00 but the man I spoke with is asking for $3500.00 down payment. I told him that If I have that kind of money then I wouldn't be late on my payment at all. They kept on passing the phone to  so many representative but I tried my best they still wouldn't deal with me unless I pay a lot of down payment. I ask the representative on who owns my account now and he told me that  ATTORNESY DO! He even told me about sending me to court on the first week of APril and something about a Arbirtration. I told him I tried my best on dealing with them but I guess I don't have a choice but to wait for their summons because according to him they are suing me.

The weird thing is....Wamu still send me my regular bill that is why I had no idea I was even in collection......let alone Attorneys hands. I guess with WAMU closing down they got desperate and sold my account to the sharks.

Yesterday I got 4 hang ups from this #. I called it back and they wouldnt tell me anything about who they were, just that they could NOT remove my # from their list. This morning they called again and a recording said they were looking for someone I have never heard of. So I called the geniuses back, gave them the name and they said the calls would stop. We'll see.

Call my cell looking for my husband.  how do they know who my husband is and where and how did they get my number????

This number has been calling for about a month looking for an Alan Carlson.  It's a recording that goes like this

Pressing 3 the system responds we are sorry for the inconvenience then disconnects.  I have done this four times in the past week.  Today I pressed 1 and got a live person, didn't identify company and I told him there is no Alan Carlson at this number.  He then asked me do you know Alan Carlson, which I responded no.  I asked him to remove my number from their list.  He said he would, we shall see.

Have had 3 calls, 1st one. Left no message, I then called back they would not give me any information as to why they called me. Then, I hung up and they immediately called me back on another line. 3rd call, no message.

Calling my work phone - twice within 30mins..  Doesn't leave message.
